No, that was my point, the fact is, unless you publicise yourself your breach of the EULA, they don't know about and if they don't know about it, it never happened. Only put in a more subtle way. I think so far as you actually pay for something, you're allowed to do whatever the heck you want with it.

I think it's actually cut content, considering how he speaks some dialog if I remember correctly (haven't played it in a year), although that 'restored' dialog could well be spoken by a variety of HK droids, 47 included. I don't know whether he was ever intended to be full party member though, he could have been a temp character on the droid planet/factory (like Trask on the Endar Spire in KoTOR) and appear sporadically in the game's development.

Korriban (unfortunately it needed 'more'!) and HK. PS: For the Goto-haters, i use KSE and change his appearance to unique_goto_hologram (or whatever) and surprisingly he's not as annoying and somewhat useful against droids in combat.

A Noob sensing a great disturbance in the Force...
refuse replied to Doros's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I believe so, I'm pretty sure I read about these story developments being discussed on their forums. If you look through their website you'll relevant find information in their forums, their work-in-progress page and their bugtracker page. -
If Lucas against modding for KoTOR/TSL, how come they have a load of user-created add-ons for the game series on starwarsknights.com etc or allow filefront to host all them mods? I understand the legal argument against mods, by Fox and Lucas, however I feel it is only really applicable (in a realistic sense) when one goes 'public' with a mod (ie setting up a website and intending to distribute the mod, whether for free or for a price). I suppose porting is more a taboo issue as it means 'exploiting' copywritten material on the one hand and Lucas' particular fan-creations policies on the other...

Game crashes with T3 on Nar Shaddaa
refuse replied to baixiwei's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Perhaps try uninstalling the mods you've added (such as the one you mention) and load from just before you get the crash; perhaps the mod is causing problems. Perhaps your saved game is corrupt? Other than that, I suppose updating the game if you haven't already, or tweaking your graphics options might assist. -
Thanks for the clarifications Deadly_Nightshade!

No, I now understand it is illegal, I also got a similar response on holowan. My intentions would be to work on porting material from one game to the other, not to create a mod for distribution, but for personal pleasure and experience. I'm interesting in getting into modding and would like to know what limitations exist. I gather that creating entirely new worlds is proving to be difficult and I'm not so convinced by most reskin jobs. My question, legalities aside, was more about whether it is feasible to port modules and models from one game to another with the currently availble modding software. I own both games, so what I do to my copies shouldn't really be illlegal if I'm not making available to anyone else. It's highly unlikely game developers care about what users do, so long as they are not infringing their copyrights, trademarks or gaining any wealth by exploiting their labour (much appreciated btw) and isn't my intention in any case. I suppose the experience gained from porting might also, in the grander scheme of things, provide a better understanding of the mechanincs of the game engine and thus help in the development of legal mod utlities. who knows? If modders can start producing entirely new worlds and content/story mods, it can only mean the game will be more successful for everyone involved in it, right? Apologies if I'm tiring.

A Noob sensing a great disturbance in the Force...
refuse replied to Doros's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, the Wookie storyline is interesting in TSL if only because traditionally they are portrayed as victims of persecution and slavery and good noble guys, whereas Hanharr's story gives you some insight in some of the more troubling times with Wookies, twisting it on its head. I feel that Mira's story is just too darn cliche'd for Star Wars. Hanharr's definitely more useful, in my book anyway, than Z was in KoTOR, particularly if you don't care about not having yet another jedi in your crew. The crew comment is most likely residue from some of the cut content most likely, little references the game developers didn't get around to omitting or overlooked. I believe there was a cutscene where Kreia stuns the rest of your crew and puts them in storage, in order to allow the slavers to lure you back to the Ebon Hawk to further develop the plot. I could be wrong, but I think that's the gist of it. -
A Noob sensing a great disturbance in the Force...

Yes, all you describe is normal in the game. However, to clear up some of your questions: Visas (the blind chick) has nothing to do with the Trandoshan slavers (the lizardmen) who were stealing the Ebon Hawk. By not killing her and her becoming your friend, she'll help you defeat Darth Nihilus (mask-dude) when the time comes. You would be getting the cutscene with Visas the first time you'd return to the Ebon Hawk after you leave Telos (the 'fortress of solitude', with all the girls running around... makes you think!) or something like that. It is also normal that after the fight with the Trandoshans you wouldn't get to pick up any loot either. If you opted not to kill their leader . It's probably a bit unfortunate that it all happened this way, usually it plays out smoother and its more clear as to what happens when. With regards to choosing who you want to join your group, alignment dictates it (LS gets Mira, DS gets Hanharr), however there are a couple ways around this. 1 - You can use the KSE (KoTOR Save Editor) to alter your alignment artificially before you trigger the 'join' sequence [however I am unsure when this exactly takes place] 2 - There is also a mod that allows you choose, by rejecting or accepting each potential party member's offer as you see fit. I believe it can be found on filefront, probably under the 'requitment' tab. That's probably what you want too. To be honest, Hanharr ain't that bad a party member, he's got some pretty cool stats to begin with and has the unique Wookie Rage (similar to Sith Marauder Fury, only it doesn't consume any force points or health or anything) and is an interesting dark character, at least when compared to Z from KoTOR. Mira on the other hand can go through mines without triggering them . Hope that was helpful! -
I think the point is that a Jedi acts upon a 'greater' understanding of duty towards the Force and everything around it (people etc). The problem with emotion is that if you focus on that, rather than reason and logic (which would be dictated by this greater understanding of the Light Side of the Force), you are easily swept away by it and can act irrationally or in contradiction of your duty. Without emotion, you don't have conflict, without conflict you have peace. Same with passion too! Ever heard of 'heat of the passion' crimes? Being a Jedi I suppose is overcoming the "human" (ie cultural and corporeal) nature and devoting oneself to the will of the Light Side of the Force, hence feeling and emotions are useless and only serve to anchor one to the qualities, problems and contradictions of 'humanity'. Think of them as idealised medieval Christians/crusaders, perhaps. With regards to the Sith, my understanding is that they represent the opposite of the Jedi (or conceptually in any case). Mercy and love are emotions that you might assume are negative to a Sith, but to be able to manipulate them, you would have to understand them, right? And to understand them, you have to experience them. Love can push you do messed up things (thank you Hollywood) and I guess mercy is a 'downfall', but then again, I don't think the Sith would see themselves as inherently evil, similarly to how Hitler didn't see himself as being evil. Think of them as idealised Nietzschean pagans, who embrace humanity and nature for all its good and wrong, perhaps.

Random question: Is it possible to import material (maps, models etc...) from KoTOR into TSL? It would really make for some interesting Korriban/Tatooine mods to say the least!

You download it from the page you already put in the link. Use winrar or whatever to decorpess the .7z file and then follow the detailed instructions, also included on the same page you referenced yourself earlier on. Simple as choosing and double clicking a .exe. No offence or dose of sarcasm directed to you, but did you even look at what was on the page you quoted? It has all the answers to your questions! Just read through.

The Droid Factory/Planet was removed from the final release of the game, as you might gather. Team Gizka is restoring a great deal of cut content, including the Droid Factory. They don't have it up for download, but if you look around, you will find a couple mods that implement the Droid Factory/Planet to varying degrees. Have a look on filefront for the available mods. They should have installation information there too.

Sith Lord - 6 points WIS less than Jedi Master! Unfair!
refuse replied to WRFan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yes, I never noticed how strong you can get in unarmed combat! In my last game as a Marauder, I decided to play without a saber on most planets, just the Force Fury/Knight Speed and my 'guns'. Took for ever to deal with some fights, but jolly good fun whilst blasting NWA on my stereo. -
The droids (both HK and T3) can get a stat bonus by accessing the computer terminal at the start of that level.
-
I've had that occur to my game a few times, mostly at random places when I enter new places... I think lowering your specs might help out if you notice it happening consistently at the same spot, or reloading from earlier on.
-
The Force powers that affect droids will come in handy, as will any Ion blasters/grenades. Other than that, it depends on how you play the game!
-
If I remember correctly, you have to 'access' the training room through the computer you took the test; it should cut to a scene with the door opening up for you, allowing you to continue.

You could always beat her to death with your bare fists. Or lightsaber. Or grenades. -
How do you get the handmaiden?

Point being that unless you hack around with KSE or whatever, that's impossible... -
How do you get the handmaiden?

Anyone find it funny that in the game screenshots on the DVD case of TSL, the Handmaiden is shown in a group shot with a female Exile? -
Perhaps you gained a few DS points that mean your Exile was more DS that LS? Curiously, is it possible to beat the game without getting a prestige class? if so, if one were to finish with 50% EXACTLY in the Force Allignment, how would the game calculate the ending to show you?

Gotta pay the bills somehow! I also heard Mission Vao did some films she wasn't too proud of...
