It was my understanding that Kreia manipulated Nihilus all the way, as with everyone else she interacts. She manipulated the situations in order to get Nihilus in his weakened state above Telos, both to draw him out and to force the Exile to take action. After all she is the main bad guy, the orchestrator of everything that unfolds.

Perhaps I wasn't clear on my suggestion. I didn't mean to remove all mentions of the Factory and effectively remove it from the restoration process, but rather circumvent any game-play that is too buggy in that segment of the game (perhaps all of it), like the various mods that allow you to skip Peragus, via dialog where you choose to alocate projected DS/LS points etc. A datapad could be further given to the PC, giving them a brief summary of the events that 'took place' in the Factory, so that scenes connected to the Factory do not seem out of place. Granted, it's not the ideal way of dealing with the issue surrounding the Factory, but that way gamers can hopefully 'skip' many of the bugs associated with that segment of the patch. I should point out that it is my understanding that the Factory is proving to be exceptionally buggy and dificult to restore, thus holding up everything else, so if that is not the case, I can see how my suggestion seems pointless. This I suggest though in the case even where the work on the Factory proves to be too much, yet TG would want to release the rest of the patch, plus allowing other mod-teams the opportunity of having a go at it by including their work (assuming they wouldn't have an issue with others futher developing their restoration work). I am by no means advocating a rushed release though.

I disagree with the Battle of Telos being the true ending of the game. The entire game is set in the shadow of the events from the first game, so it would only be fitting for the game to further that aspect of being on the margins of influencing things. After all, the focus of the game is not on the Sith vs Jedi clash, but rather Force/No Force dilemma put forward by Kreia. The Sith, Jedi, Republic, gangs, etc were are all manipulated to varying degrees to further Kreia's agenda. The more I think about it though, the game reminds me a bit of the 'Search For The Pink Panther' or something, where the heroes are retracing the missing steps of Revan, while dealing with the situations left in the wake of his passing by and affecting everyone. Peter Sellers = Revan?

You may want to look at the stickies in for common remedies to some bugs. Furthermore, if you mention your system's specs, someone may be able to ascertain more about your problem. You wouldn't happen to be using a no-cd 'patch', would you?

@ Hassat: I don't think it is necessarily so; there is still a good deal of restored content and the bug fixes themselves are top on my list. In my only playthrough of the leaked beta I don't think I even got to the droid factory and gave up during my encounter with Darth Nihilus and Visas' options messing my game up.

I see your point, but it could quite possibly be to maintain the characters' recognisability (after all, Bastila is also in her generic outfit I believe), or even an oversight. Don't forger that Canderous/Mandalore has a greater role in the development of the game than Carth/Bastila, so it's only inevitable that they would focus a lot on his appearance and develop his story (as little as they did, but that's genuinely a result of the game's rushed release). Carth did strike me as the sort of person though who would probably leave the safety of his command ship to fight with his troops, go on solo missions etc, like most of the Star Wars heroes, so him wearing his armour didn't throw me off.

I gather that one of the major issues with the progress is the HK Factory. How about making that aspect of the game inaccessible (or take you straight to the end of related quests, with a simple datapab briefly explaining 'the rest of this quest will be implemented in the upcoming update, look out and god bless satan'), focus on tidying up the rest of your work, and release it? Since this project began there have been quite a few talented modders who have appeared on the lucasforums, who might be of assistance, by giving you a different or fresh perspective. Especially since the project leader is unable to work on it at the moment, it could be quite beneficial in the projects development. Just a thought.

G0-T0 meets HK-47 (alternate)

I'm guessing he might have had another space craft stashed there, repaired something there, or possibly ordered one from Argos. I like to think he hitched a ride with John Candy's van in Home Alone 1. -
Issue running Kotor 2 after I reinstalled the game
refuse replied to AlanWhiteWolf's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The service pack came out late summer, so if you had automatic updates turned on, chances are you now have it. You can easily see if you have it by looking at the Properties->General of 'My Computer'. While we're on the subject, does anybody know if the service pack improves or hinders gameplay of TSL/KotOR? -
I think Marcus has pointed out your problems: Vista is problematic when running old games, particularly one as old and buggy as TSL. There are some Vista fixes, but seeing that you have limited resources in terms of RAM, they might not improve your gameplay as much. Would you consider installing XP on a partition on your HD?

And thus we should not support it! I doesn't have to bomb though... It could be a really good game after all. I think boycotting it will only hinder or set back any plans for a single-player K3, while they carry on focusing on the Vader-era that sells quite a lot of SW games.
-
Look, if the MMO title totally bombs, I predict that a proper K3 will appear a lot sooner than we thought. The strength of the series has been the epic story-telling, that's something LA won't neglect. I think the MMO could be a brilliant prelude (or "sequel"?) to a K3; shame my year-old laptop is barely capable of running TSL!

2nd Meeting With Atris Help
refuse replied to Jedi Squirrel's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Sounds totally messed up. Maybe you should restart the game (it's a pain, I know), since the problems will only mount and mount. If you experience the same problems in your new game, perhaps defragmenting your hard-drive might help, in case some corruption occurs from that. -
The problem is that you want to retain the way the 'vanilla' game plays by downloading user-made content that by DEFINITION is there to alter the gameplay. Even if you get a new set of force powers, that means you use them instead of those supplied in-game; same can be said about items, NPC's, story-development, etc... The point of user-made mods is to give the game a new twist. Do you see the error in your logic? It's like that anti-war slogan "fighting for peace is like 'fornicating' for virginity". Those bug-fixes, along with other ones that will/might pop up later in the progress and other 'spring-cleaning' will most likely make the patch a lot more stable and intergrated into the game. Are you an experienced modder yourself and do you have inside knowledge on the work that remains to be done, in order to come to your conclusions? There are no guarantees of the outcome of this mod, but judging from the quality of FINISHED work they released in the past (fixes that have since been removed from their site to be implemented in their patch), I'd say there's a good chance that their work will deliver. I played the beta myself and was very pleased with what I saw, prompting me to be more patient until the eventual, bug-free release. It remains to be seen and you don't need to share my optimism, but nobody is forcing you to care about this project, nor download it. I'm sure that mod team has broken up and/or ceased operations on that project; last update on their work was last year. I remember reading something about it in the Holowan forums on Lucasarts last summer. If you want Hanharr to become a Jedi/Sith and don't mind about the story/dialog aspect of it, you can easily do so with the KSE (save editor), where you can alter inventory items, stats as well as add and edit classes for your PC and NPC's. Just make sure you make copies of your save games, in case you alter something you shouldn't, or mess up a character.

It sounds like he's more annoyed that the game has forced him to act beyond his routine playthrough strategies. He also assumes that whatever mods he has downloaded (leaked betas or not), that they are somehow supposed to be perfect, seamless additions to the game. Particularly in the case of the leaked beta, I feel he should realise that what he has installed was never meant to be available to anyone in the first place. Obviously there are going to be issues with balancing and bugs that have not been addressed, so arguing about it is pointless.
-
I believe that items are spanwed randomly (according the level), so provided you are strong enough a Jedi/Sith, powerful stuff should show up. I have a suspition that some of the robes might not actually be obtainable in-game, without being 100% certain. Perhaps there are cheat codes to obtain items?
-
Unlike KotOR where you ended up finding loads of lightsabers and very few jedi npcs, in TSL it's quite the opposite. After completing some quests (apart from dealing with the Jedi Masters) you will be given at random a short, single or double-bladed lightsaber. In Nar Shadaa for example, after clearing the path for the woman in the refugee camp to reunite with her husband and you talk to them, they give you a saber in gratitude. In any case, there are far fewer sabers to be found in TSL than in KotOR. Heck, even the Sith Assassins don't seem to have any! If you don't mind cheating, you could always use KSE (a save editor) or the console commands, to add sabers to your inventory.

In the first game you owned the speeder, which came with the Ebon Hawk when you stole it.
-
Does the game say something about a [cheat node] when you click on them? There is a common bug the causes some trouble on Telos, depending on your response to the Handmaidens as soon as you enter the Academy (more on that in the appropriate sticky). If that doesn't help, perhaps your save has been corrupted, so try loading up a saved game before you enter and use different dialog options.
-
If you mean the speeder 'upgrade' that the Rodian is talking about, the answer is no. He even says that he's looking for something that doesn't exist. I read in an interview that initially there were plans on expanding the speeder racers to take upgrades and such in the first game, but they didn't impliment any of it in the end, even though there is allusion to them existing in the game. The dialog with the Rodian, therefore, I believe is a bit of a in-joke reference to gamers futile search for such upgrades in the first game.
-
Yeah, it's also a bit tricky to get the all the airspeeder parts and then installed in the correct order, which makes that quest frustrating. I only accomplished it once I think and even then, it seemed rather pointless. I believe the quest's akwardness might have been a result of the game's initial rushed release...
