  1. I can run both KotOR and TSL on an Intel 945GM Express, which is pretty much the same card you have, but with Windows XP.
  2. I think the game, for some reason (a bug) doesn't load up the proper map, like a trigger or a script wasn't activated when it should, to allow you to carry on with the game. It looks like you're stuck in a 'cut-scene' Ebon Hawk. Something like that occasionally happened to me on later levels (Nar Shadaa), where after a cut-scene my jedi was left wandering around locked up in a room with no means of getting out or progressing. I overcame it by loading older saves, although in a couple instances I had to restart an entire planet, which can be frustrating. I'd recommend you start the game from scratch, since you've recently installed the 1.0b patch and it's early in the game. There is also a mod that allows you to skip Peragus, which might be of some help to you if you don't want to start all over again, but other than that, I don't know much else. Perhaps someone else has other ideas?
  3. It doesn't sound like the mod is the problem, since it's just item files you drop in your override folder, right? I don't think it alters any .2da files or models. What are your system specs though? It sounds like your game installation is messed up or your machine is having problems running it. If the 1.0b patch is said to fix your problem, you probably need to start a new game from scratch, since your old game saves will be from the older version and hence some incompatabilities might persist.
  4. I have no idea what you're getting at. Care to elaborate? Pressumably 'Pikmin' is a modder who got banned from Lucasforums for plagiarizing the work of others in the past (under a different name) and through a series of circumstances and abusive messages, his identity was 're-discovered'. From what I gather, there was lots of drama and name-calling.
  5. My characters are usually more Force-orientated after I've leveled up a bit, so I don't really use that many saber forms, apart from Makashi, which I try to compliment with at least one crystal that gives Blaster Deflection to make up for the lack of defense. I find it really compliments the Force Jump that Guardians/Weapons Masters get. As for Force forms, Force Channel is obviously the best all-around choice (and the one I mostly use) from start to finish of the game, but Force Potency is also quite good for Sith Lords and the lightning storm force power, especially when you're level 30+ and running out of force points during combat isn't an issue anymore. Likewise, Force Mastery can be useful for LS when you need all those extra protective force powers to last longer.
  6. And this is why the Internet fails. Had we been living in the 20th Century, we could probably ascertain whether the 'two weeks' was a sarcastic, pop-culture reference, or in fact a straight up release date announcement.
  7. Yeah, I think that 'cyclic redundancy error' is another way of saying that your disc is damaged. Since it's the second one, I'd suggest you borrow one from a friend (since you only need it for installation), or possibly buy another copy if that's not a burden. Don't mix up the discs of different language though!
  8. Well I'm sure that doesn't really include major aspects of the plot, but rather sub-plots and parts that were vague first time around... So yeah, you might forget stuff like and , but you won't ever forget that , or that etc, you know the big twists that totally blew your mind first time around (assuming you didn't see it coming or were told)... Well, not unless dementia starts kicking in, in the year 2059! :D
  9. Securom is the copy-protection that is used on the game. I don't have Vista on my computer, but maybe it's a matter of enabling administration rights? Have a look at here, perhaps some of the info there can help you generate the analysis file. Depending on the analysis file you provide Securom with, they will then supply you with a modified .exe of the game (i *think*) in order to get the game running. Unfortunately, only they can do that.
  10. You're probably right on that one. I haven't played any of the games, for well over a year now. Mind you, the upcoming Brotherhood of Shadow mod for KotOR looks interesting and reason enough to get back into it.
  11. Still, what has taken the team 6 to 12 months could have been accomplished in say 3 to 6 in terms of bug-hunting. I don't think a public beta would necessarily speed up the process, not as much as if they took on-board more experienced modders anyway. What appears to be lacking is any real consistency in the volume of work completed for the past year or so.
  12. First off, I am not a member of any mod team, nor am I modder myself. I am not 'insanely devoted' to any team, you can look into my past record of posts in this forum and you might even realise that I am consistently critical of TG's progress. The difference is that there are better ways of wording your criticism without being crass. You will also note that I am not begging and name-calling to get attention. Secondly, you make a lot of claims and avoid providing any clear answers. In fact your 'arguments' are equivalent to those of a five year-old, resorting to name-calling, accusations and diverting away from answering anything. I didn't want to say it first time around I saw your posts about hiring a team, but yeah, I agree with Darth Mortis and it seems that you only want to get your hands on a newer beta. What your intentions are (to play for yourself, redistribute it with your name on it, or whatever) doesn't interest me the slightest, but I do find it curious how you insist on trash-talking TG. Even if you are legit, do you really think they would want to work with you having that attitude? Finally, I had nothing to do with the editing of your posts. I have no idea what your original post was like, but you should probably be more careful with the language you use.
  13. That's a funny understanding of the concept of altruism you seem to have. Sounds more like you want to come off as some sort of holy benefactor to save the 'community' from another let down. As for 'torching' your house, you must really have a big idea of yourself to think that. Blatant plagiarists and rip-offs have been dealt with much less and there have been many more letdowns in 'the community' than simply waiting for this particular mod to fully materialise. On the one hand you say you don't want to raise false hopes, but on the other you mention on more than one occasion how you are going to hire a crack-team of programmers to do the mod. You say you want to keep it secret, but then you go on about being shot down by TG for not accepting your alleged deus ex machina help. What's the point of that if you don't want to raise false hopes and sympathy for yourself? Lame.
  14. Perhaps swiftshader or 3danalyzer might help in emulating what your card seems to lack (I always get a message that my card is not supported when I launch the game, but oddly enough it runs anyway). There is a thread dedicated in that group to the 915 card, perhaps someone there might have some further info. With my card, which is pretty much the same as yours, on Windows XP and 1GB of RAM I can run both KotOR and TSL at medium specs. The only noticeable problem is that silver/shiny objects and armour are rendered white and some Force powers lack visuals (such as Force run not producing a blur effect on my laptop). Other than that, both games run surprisingly well, considering how bug-ridden the game is. Aside from looking into these options, I don't know if it's possible to get the game to run, without any hardware upgrades.
  15. I have the 945GM on my laptop and manage to play the game. Have a look here. It's a group for gaming with your graphics card. Perhaps someone there might be able to help you.
  16. I don't see how it would take 'all day' to update a web-page like Mantis. Or even post a message there saying that they are 'too busy working on bugs to update bug-list page'. Compare that to the work confirmed and amount of updates that preceeded the unfortunate leaking of beta and you can see why people are doubting the development of the mod since then.
  17. If I remember correctly, as a DS, as soon as Kavar runs away, you get to talk to Tobin, so you don't have to fight him. Perhaps your save is messed up? Try loading a previous save, maybe that clears it up.
  18. Have you maybe messed around with the save editor or cheats to alter influence and alignment of any NPCs?
  19. God couldn't get Duke Nukem Forver out if he threatened 3D realms with eternal damnation. I don't even want it to come out because the adventure of watching it's development is infinately more fun then the game itself could ever provide. I guess it depends on which deity you believe then, right? If you're going to pray to a mythological creature for salvation and inspiration, you might as well throw in Duke Nukem Forever (and a bug-busting, plot-development Obsidian-made expansion/patch to TSL). Otherwise, it seems a rather pointless (mind you I consider myself an antitheist, so apologies to anyone if I have offended their spiritual beliefs). But seriously dude, assuming you have actually hired people to do this and you aren't talking nonsense (to put it politely), why not get on with it and start your own thread or website and ignore what Team Gizka is doing with their project? Maybe there you can even showcase all the improvement and what your goals and targets are, you know?
  20. Haha, still with this? Sure dude, can you have them look at Duke Nukem Forever, while they're at it?
  21. You do realise that you first posted on Saturday, three days prior to your last message, right? Regardless, this four year-old game is notorious for being bug-ridden, a result of a rushed release on behalf of Lucas Arts, so patience is required. All this is discussed elsewhere in the forum in greater detail if you are interested. I am no tech expert myself, but with regards to your problem, have you tried looking through other posts in forum? Perhaps someone else has already addressed the same issue. 'Search' is your friend. If anything, have a look here, where you will find links to archived game saves. Maybe using them will indicate whether your problem is located in that specific part of the game, or something else.
  22. This happened to me on a couple times, but I believe it had something to do with a corrupted save file as it didn't happen on a regular occasion. I would suggest loading up a save earlier in your game, maybe that helps out. Do you have any mods installed? They can also wreck havoc from time to time.
  23. I suppose it really depends on how you build your characters and play the game, but you did mention one valid point being 'fun'. That should be enough, beyond the odd task that requires it, shouldn't it? I mean as powerful as say Force Choke can be (as a DS power), it seems to me more of a 'fun' throwback to Darth Vader's signature move than anything else. Think of Stealth as a Grey/LS equivalent. Don't forget that a high Stealth skill will also allow you to build some pretty nifty weapon and armour upgrades.
