  1. Sure, we need as many participants as possible... so I'll be happy to send the questionnaires to you if you're still willing to participate DL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn it, I forgot to check this thread. Yes, please do send it at your leisure.
  2. Never disagreed with you on the former, and when did I claim the latter? Just because he knows about it, doesn't mean he enjoys it.
  3. Hmm...I need to get government altering information. That type of "torture" is right up my alley.
  4. How so? The higher ups have been doing precisely that by constantly claiming "these soldiers acted alone, we weren't involved...nope...not us...not at all". I happen to trust the average grunt more than I do their commanders. That's a slippery slope...but so long as the examples you cited aren't employed by U.S. forces...I'm fine. You also get good and bad commanding officers (The Commander in Chief is included).
  5. That's a little naive, don't you think? The consensus among soldiers charged and convicted, is that the actions they took were permitted, and in some cases, rewarded by higher ranking persons...who've yet to be charged. You really believe that our government won't allow torture just because the people disapprove? So long as we don't know about it...it will continue. Abu Ghraib isn't a singular incident...and honestly, you can't tell me that it wouldn't still be going on, as I type, if the media hadn't gotten a hold of it in the first place.
  6. A good person, is a good person. How about we leave it at that friend. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good advice.
  7. Well of course it doesn't. Just seems like you're stressing the plight of Christians when we're all harassed (jokingly on these boards) equally for our beliefs, is all.
  8. Think it's more to get a rise out of Mothy. "
  9. But he'd never admit it, would he? Oh no, why ruin his good reputation? @julianw: To an extent, it can be gratifying. The double standards and hypocrisy I see coming from these boards and elsewhere concerning Christianity is just sickening, though. Cripes, it makes me want to vomit. I have yet to attack anybody on this board for being an Atheist. Absolutely sickening. But nobody will admit to there being a double standard. It'd compromise their principles. Right, Gabs? *sigh* But then again: "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness..." I guess it's all good in the end. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Go to a primarily Christian board, or even something physical, like a school, or college and say you're agnostic or atheist. Generally there'll be instantaneous moral, ethical, and spiritual assaults on your character the instant you offer a dissenting opinion on the whole god matter. The double standards and hypocrisy exist on both sides of the fence. And when have I attacked anybody for being Christian? :'(
  10. Lovewolf? ........ No prob...oh, and I don't care who shot first, Greedo's the smoking corpse, not Han.
  11. Three part series about the smuggler, written by Brian Daley in the seventies. The books are as follows: Han Solo at Star's End, Han Solo's Revenge, and Han Solo and the Lost Legacy. Personal favorites of mine, I might add.
  12. No we don't. I wasn't raised in a religious environment and I've got a stronger framework of morals and ethics than damn near every person I know. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't believe you understood my statement, LoveWolf16. I was saying that religion is not imperative for the development of a moral or ethical foundation. I've always thought that you sounded more or less sensible in an environment that lends itself to serious non-sense. *A wink* EDIT: Screw it, as much as I'd like to keep one persona from the other, It's too damned confusing to keep my posts straight. Instead, I'll turn cowboy and start shooting hombres from the hip. Dammit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :"> Um, yeah, looking back on it, and rereading it... Yes, I misunderstood. Then again, being exhausted both physically and mentally at the time of reading/posting....it doesn't surprise me. Sorry about that Eldar/Cantousent. Juuuuuuust couldn't keep it together, could you? Not even for little ol' me.
  13. Not really. Especially considering I made an 1180 in 7th grade after having arrived back from England three hours before the test when I had severe sleep apnia leading to constant insomnia. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was the older test. Higher possible score on that one...by like 500 I think.
  14. Mind your own business, if you don't want to join in the discussion, don't. We are just expressing our beliefs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He has a point, though. Nobody's going to convince anybody. And it looks like several people are going to be doing very poorly on reading comprehension when they're finally old enough to take their SATs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I did decently. <_< A 1110 is decent for having not slept the night prior, and gotten 2 hours the night before that...right? :'(
  15. Slight amendment...I meant that people generally say "You're too stupid" not that they themselves are stupid, but the people they're talking to.
  16. No we don't. I wasn't raised in a religious environment and I've got a stronger framework of morals and ethics than damn near every person I know. For the most part, I agree with the post in its entirety, and I also believe it to be hypocritical to attack Christianity and not the other religions. There's a problem there though. I only argue with people like Mothy when they sit there and tell me things like "I'm too stupid to understand why god does certain things, or the reasoning behind why he wants me to do other things." Were he Muslim and saying stuff like that, I'd be ripping into him in an instant. * I don't think Baley is advocating Satanism, he's just making the distinction between the two "faiths". Not to change tracks or anything......but here's the real question. If I'm wrong, and there is a heaven, and a hell, will I go to the latter simply because I did not believe in either...even if I was a good person, who did what he could in life to help others, and live honestly?
  17. Keep talking like that and you'll have Gromnir in here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> God, no.
  18. Uhhhh...still need anybody? I'm bored out of my damn mind.
  19. Intelligent falling?
  20. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The point of being a Christian is definitely not to make a lot of money. So yes, it is hardly a surprise that people who have a Christian (but not limited to Christian) belief about God (such as: God created human beings in their present form exactly as described in the Bible) would have lower incomes... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Higher income, for the most part, indicates a higher level of education. I believe it was stated earlier, I don't remember who by, that Peter was crucified upside down. If true, that sounds a little worse than what Jesus went through. Who's the real hero? " And I know I'm going to regret saying this, but to me, any parent who is willing to let their child suffer and die, for any reason, has no right to be a parent in the first place...omniscient being or not. For the record: Agnostic. And I happen to agree with Numbers and Meta on this one. I've seen far too many profoundly stupid people touting the same nonsense, contradicting themselves, and making claims any sane person would immediately discount to take the beliefs behind it all, as a whole, seriously. Don't get me wrong. I think everybody should believe what they want to. Whatever gets you through the day works just fine, so long as it doesn't affect anybody else in a negative way...like, oh, say, ritual sacrifice...or exclusively teaching creationism in schools (Screw Kansas). It's been said before, but I figure I may as well repeat it...so long as you keep it to yourself and don't try to force it on others, via government or public education, fine by me, have fun, go nuts, enjoy yourself.
  21. Seconded. Enthusiastically seconded.
  22. The Asagods werent that particular, in fact, the concept of virginity didnt exist in viking culture. And human sacrifices was only made to Oden, durig the midvinterblot(winter solstice) f.ex when thralls were sometimes hung as offerings and/or symbols( Oden impaled himself on his spear gungnir on Yggdrasil and hung dead for many days and nights to find wisdom ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What in the hell is wrong with people?
  23. I like that. Technology still manages to amaze me. And yes, I agree with Random's last post.
  24. They are. Quite frequently. Agreed.
  25. Uh...yo. Ignore the white noise
