  1. More ignorance than stupidity...say you don't know something is a quest item and drop it some time along the way, only to end up in that one area where you need that particular item...that's bad design, and not the player's fault. Though I think you've already said that. Bottom line is that this is Volo's opinion. It doesn't have to be the same as your's, Mkreku, or yours SP. Though, I'll admit, he could be a bit less condescending and outright jerky about it. Lyr is 100% correct.
  2. Three Words: Alba nude scene <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Somehow, this whole chimpocalypse doesn't seem so bad now.
  3. Yes, definitely. StarForce destroying processors now. At least the damaging of burnable media devices has merit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It screwed up something with one of my CPUs processes...it kept trying to run it and run it and run it (It being a starforce task...thing), and eventually burned out on me. Then again, the thing was an older model...but I didn't have any problems 'till that.
  4. Yes, but having seen things like this, and knowing that nobody who just plays the game has any clue how to do even a quarter of this stuff, those arguments are null and void the second they're typed.
  5. Then that would piss people like you off. If they didn't say anything, and you bought it, you'd bitch because it's too short. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Truth.
  6. That HL2 one in an hour and a half was amazing. I mean...so many shortcuts...took me that long to get past the first couple sections, damn it.
  7. Seen a couple problems along that line...Argonians keep reverting to a weird state in the inventory window, no matter how much ya mess with them. Their necks become pouches no matter what I do.
  8. Wow...the 5 or 6 pages per hour since noon thing is sort of....wow. Anywho, it's great to see devs actually interacting with their forum goers, unlike many, many, many, many other companies out there. For the record, I've finished K1 in under 18 hours, K2 under 22 (Both played [for the 3rd or 4th time] with the intent to finish as quickly as possible.), never finished IWD or IWD 2, but I was up to around 30 in each when I gave up on them, NWN took me around...hell, that one took the longest. Not very enjoyable in terms of story, mind you, but long. (I'd of preferred some 10-20 hours to have been cut in favor of a better OC.) Never messed with the Toolset or MP in NWN. Not once, but I still got the expansions...why? My dad loved the original so he bought them all, and I got them when he was done. Not bad, overall. I never finished BG...or BG 2...noticing a trend here? I haven't played FO, FO2, TOEE, or PS:T so I can't exactly offer up an opinion on them. I'll be getting NWN 2 the second it comes out. The hell with everything, I trust these guys to put out a strong product. For all it's shortcomings, K2 was a great game (Except the...er..."ending", of course.). Not only that, I'm damned sure I'll enjoy every minute of play time, be it 20 hours, or 50.
  9. It's called aging, grandpa. " Well, can we all at least agree that it's the quality of the content that comes first, rather than the overall length of the game?
  10. Alice In Chains - Heaven Beside You
  11. When did I do that? I believe my exact words were "Anyway, I agree with Blank. Which strikes me as odd." How'd you get all that from two sentences? Sheesh, I just don't find myself agreeing with him all that often...mostly because he's more agreeable than even me, which somehow makes him less agreeable to me personally. Ya know what? I really don't care about the religion thing. Whatever gets you through the day that doesn't involve hurting/killing somebody else, I'm cool with. That, and the concept of a "god" isn't silly. It's obviously got some merit to it, otherwise it wouldn't have lasted this long into human civilization. Now, the idea that god is an old man with a big white beard, white robes, and sandals is definitely worthy of a chuckle. And, the religion itself is great. Lots of positives to it. Only beef I have is with the people who either use the political system to force it on others, or those who harm others in the name of it...which is an almost direct contradicion of Jesus' teachings, come to think of it. I may throw out the occasional barb in religions direction, particularly Christianity since it's the one I'm most familiar with, but I genuinely have no problem with it. Did I mention that seemed uncalled for? On Topic: Good to have people agreeing with me on this...'tis a rarity.
  12. :'( So short of a sentence...yet so hurtful.
  13. I didn't. Merely stating what I'm hoping for.
  14. But, I also hate the fact that Oblivion is, more or less, a meandering exercise in pointlessness. I'd be in love were it a more focused experience with a true purpose besides finishing the short MQ then walking around for another 80 hours helping random people with their inane quests. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the game, quite a bit, since I'm still playing, but there's a void there a definite ending and feeling of accomplishment would certainly fix. Which is what I'm hoping for NWN2. That feeling of having done something and there being a definite, satisfying ending, with engaging characters, along with a strong story. If they fit that into 20 hours, then I'm happy. Very happy, in fact. In modern CRPGs replayability appears to be a focal point...realistically, they aren't going to be near as long as their predecessors, like BG2, but they've got a much better chance of being played again...and again...and again...like Blank said earlier.
  15. How am I being a fan boy? I was just calling for a bit more in the way of optimism, which is not wasted. And 20 hours is FINE, provided that it's a 20 hours I feel were spent well. If the game is a good one, the length shouldn't matter. Content is the be all and end all of every game...don't focus so much on the length. I agree, that I'd like it if these games were longer, but realistically, that's not going to happen. It's not a matter of "we didn't bitch enough, so they did it anyway" it's costs and what can be done within a certain amount of time and with a certain amount of cash. It's not like these guys aren't trying their damndest to give us a strong product...I mean, it's a reflection of themselves...so why not make it the best as can be? I may very well be naive, but I prefer that over outright cynicism or dismissing a game I've been looking forward to simply because the length isn't 50+ hours. How does directy attacking the developer help? And I'll wait for reviews, then buy this game. If there's strong replay value and the content is up to par with my standards, then I'm perfectly willing to speak through my $. If it's good, I want a developer out there who'll keep making games...hopefully a bit longer next time, but still great.
  16. Is it me, or is there an overwhelming sense of cynicism here? How about a little positivity? Would it kill you guys not to condemn design decisions until you've actually had an opportunity to sit down and play the game? Before you do, any and all of this is supposition...negative supposition. Just because it doesn't adhere to you guys' definition of a strong RPG doesn't mean it won't be. Where'd that come from... Anyway, I agree with Blank. Which strikes me as odd.
  17. Actually, no. If it's a crappy game, then it's a crappy game. Quality is and should be the #1 concern, not length.
  18. Agreed. Really, so long as it's satisfying and a damned fine example of a game, why's 20 hours so short? If there's extensive replay value, which there should be, judging by what's already been said by the devs (I know...but I still trust them.), then that 20 hr game turns into 40+.
  19. Only if you want to pay for it...
  20. Just use FRAPS, Eldar. Then convert the .bmp files to JPG using paint or something. You can take screenshots with all the bells and whistles that way.
  21. Anybody here noticed the bolded parts and what they mean... Rushing speed is 20 hours (unless I lost reading comprehension skill) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's what I got from it too.
  22. That thing destroyed my old processor. And hey, I liked WC:Prophecy...one of my favorites, actually. Though the acting was sorta not...good.
  23. It's not realistic. Generally, allies try to avoid filling you with arrows when you're standing in front of their target.
  24. Firing by fireball? :D And is anybody else getting sick and tired of being nailed in the damn back my allied archers? It's pissing me off.
