For the most part the only thing that needs to be changed is the graphic textures and minor modifications to the rules set to make it Star Wars. It would take a whole less work to do that than learn a new engine and apply the d20 game mechanic. Hell, we have people making Star Wars games out of the baseline NWN.

I think that Bioreached Juggernaut status around ToB was released and NWN was on its way. Man, NWN had some serious design flaws but they have improved since then. The more you type the more I agree with you, J.E.. Maybe what they need to do is create two E3's. Have one event for the industry and press. Focused on game development and to showcase the new titles all in a nice quiet business like atmosphere then a second "convention" where people can go to geek out at the new games and party.
