  1. Hmh, my purchase isn't going through. I'm afraid to try it for the 3rd time since I might end up with 3 copies of the 4 games I'm trying to buy.
  2. Been laughing at my weird *** dream. Obsidian finally announced Project North Carolina. The game was called Haven. Their great business plan was to sold it only in Hollywood kiosks. Hollywood was a chain of kiosk in that dream. So yea, only in those kiosks, for 15 dollars. They also announced Virginia, but I can't remember what it was :/
  3. Too bad that we don't have the technology to push the damn isles further into the Atlantic Sea. I'm pretty sure the British would love to be nearer to their true companions the Americans. Win-Win situation if you ask me. Europe gets rid of the arrogant, loud and obnoxious british tourists and British get to be closer to their bffs.
  4. Even in the big picture DA2 did hurt BioWare somewhat. Will it hurt ME3 sales? Most likely not, since that's a different franchise and people will want to see how their journey ends. BioWare has a good reputation, so one mistake like DA2 isn't a complete disaster for them. They will lose some sales on (initially at least) on the next Dragon Age game, since people will remember the faults of that game (even those who don't post on Codex). But if it gets great reviews again, those same people will most likely forgive BioWare and buy the damn game later on. But I don't think the collective butthurt is big enough yet, to make a real impact on the sales of the next Dragon Age game. For me and couple of my friends it bumped Dragon Age from 1st day purchase to something I/they will consider buying after reading enough of reviews. Most of all, Dragon Age 2 made EA look like evil corporation (again), with their ridicilous schedule.
  5. So "amount of recycled maps" is now a measure of its own, separate of how good/bad the game is? Not just that. The game certainly had more flaws. For example the boss fights were pretty damn annoying. Not hard, just annoying and boring. I don't like to micromanage 4 guys to be out of LOS in a long long fight. Not that normal fights were any better with the multiple waves of enemies spawning "out of nowhere". And don't get me even started on that "epic" dragon fight. And the plot felt a bit retarded. And basically the game forced me to have Anders around, because none of the other mages that were available for me could actually heal. All the playersexual companions, enough is enough. I don't want to romance every damn companion in the game. Most of it comes down to the game just being so much worse than Dragon Age: Origins.
  6. Yes, at least I managed to finish DA2. Jade Empire didn't intrest me at all and I never managed to finish NWN OC, can't even find my copy. Must have buried it somewhere deep. But then again I don't think either one of those games had as much recycled maps as DA2.
  7. You kiddin' me? People gonna literally throw themselves over ME3 when it's released, 2 million+ Beta testers for SWTOR and a huge-budget PC exclusive with cutting-edge tech funded by courtesy of EA tells me BioWare is now stronger as ever. DA2? Why, pretty good game overall, considering the short dev cycle. Just wait how fast DA3 is gonna sell, regardless of the usual whining of course. BioWare gets lots of puplicity, that's the best thing that could happen to them. The worst thing would be just getting ignored. While I have trust that BioWare is able to do quality products, I don't have trust in EA that have to please their shareholders. Proof of this: DA2 and the ridiciously short development cycle. And yes, I'm waiting for Mass Effect 3 as well, to see how the trilogy finishes, but that doesn't change the fact that Dragon Age 2 did hurt their overall reputation as a company and a brand. For MMO the real test starts after 4 to 6 months of release. Will the playerbase stay, or will they find something else to play. Someone who has been looking into the game more, can prolly tell if EA will even make profit with the initial sales, or do they need the people to keep paying them montly to actually make profit later on. The good news for BioWare/EA is that Blizzard is most likely alienating bunch of WoW players with their Pandarens. I've already heard from a lot of my ex-guildies (don't play any longer myself) how they are switching to SWTOR (which I would imagine is mostly due to the damn Pandas).
  8. Wasn't it in ME2? Can't remember them in the first game. Anyway, I think it's a good idea to battle the big shizzle with other big shizzle instead of shepard going solo on it, etc. which I somehow had expected. They've had "sand worms" in both games I think.
  9. BioWare in name only. I wonder if gay/lesbian romances are in. Doesn't matter. It's a Bioware studio now, so they gotta keep up with the quality, otherwise it will only spoil Bio Edmontons repuation. Do you mean their reputation before or after Dragon Age 2? If after, then I wouldn't expect much from their games...
  10. Too bad Last of Us is a PS3 exclusive. Don't think I will be buying PS3 at this point...
  11. BioWare in name only. I wonder if gay/lesbian romances are in.
  12. Says the guy with a creepy clown as his avatar! :D
  13. Hard to say, some article I read said that they would run out of cash in early 2013. But if their 2012 releases fail badly, who knows. South Park itself has the potential to be a huge success for THQ (depending on the deal with South Park Studios & Obsidian ofc).
  14. I would imagine that by the time we actually have the technology to actually accomplish that, the prices for various resources would actually make it economically viable.
  15. Or a couple of asteroids filled with minerals. Anyways great article.
  16. I take it you are not working on South Park Alvin?
  17. Ah yes, too bad I can't edit the 1st post
  18. "Junior Programmer (March 2010 - Present) " He needs to update his Facebook profile then
  19. Feels a bit sloppy and consoly if you ask me. But I guess it's worth the 5 euros/dollars. Definately not planning on playing that as MP.
  20. I thought I'd start a post where funcroc can sta.. post everyone working on the project and a place for those developers lucky enough to stay under his radar to post and say hi. So far the following people have been (mostly by funcroc) recognized as being part of team South Park: http://www.linkedin.com/in/chrismlang - Production Intern http://www.linkedin.com/in/dini800 - Jr. Designer http://twitter.com/#!/johnjoeyperez/st...766418675085312 - Artist? http://www.facebook.com/jonaburke?sk=info - Jr. Programmer http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=151...380&sk=info - ? http://twitter.com/#!/framerate/status...294399185977345 - ? http://twitter.com/#!/SplendidSteph/st...306628920819712 - Junior Artist/Animator http://twitter.com/#!/MikeyDowling/sta...312388396462080 - Audio/Dialogue Producer? http://www.facebook.com/roguezombie/posts/250826694978456 (Anthony Davis: Last thing I was working on at Obsidian!) - Programmer? http://www.facebook.com/gelatin/posts/286042128104501 (Andre Nguyen: It was unclear, but I'm working on that game. 21. Losing my mind watching ice-hockey. Nothing new there, but I just love it how everyone is allowed to take cheapshots against my teams star players with penalties or getting their *** kicked by some goon.
  22. Deadliest Catch: RPG would be just awesome. I want to start as a greenhorn on some baaaaaaaaaad ship and make my way to the top! It could have skill like baiting, balance and stamina (it effects how well you cope with sleep deprivation). Make it happen!
  23. And youa re simply trolling. Why I'm even answering to you, I do not know.
  24. Nothing really, I just made a comment how Obsidian has more diversity in the settings than other companies (currently) and I guess that summons your friendly neighbourhood canuck.
  25. Actually I was talking about their current situation and currently they are only doing those two franchises. Over the time they have had bunch of fantasy games and scifi games + that Sonic game for DS, I really wouldn't count Shattered Steel and MDK2 here either since they aren't even in the same genre we are talking about. Nothing based on the "real world". More games yes, but it's just fantasy and (space) scifi so far.
