As expected and yet surprisingly well done
Flouride replied to Cantousent's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
I think we wiped on it multiple times with Bendu, though after a while we just went all-out on it and killed it pretty fast (gotta love Katarina). We had way more wipes on last boss. -
And if they are only distributing the game there's a good chance Obsidian will actually see some of the profits from the game.
-
It's not really news though. They've been doing this 2 projects thingie for a while now, so when one gets cancelled it's only natural that they have to start their pitching again to get a contract.
-
Why would you get it for PS3 though. Isn't Bethesda's engine horribly bad on PS3.
-
I recommend you do play it eventually. It's a lot of fun, Aye, it's just Volly bring Volly. Someone should dig up all the **** it said about FNV before actually trying it.

Aye, the DLC is well worth the full price. It's not your BioWare DLC with 30mins of gameplay (yes I'm looking at you Dragon Age). I think it took me and Bendu about 8 hours to finish on Hardcore. The last boss itself (I think) took at least 1 hour, maybe even more. -

Once I tried Katarina, I never even tried the other chars. She was just that much fun to play. -
Obsidian to co-develop Wasteland 2 if 2.1 M is reached
Flouride replied to C2B's topic in Obsidian General
While Fargo's name is legendary, most of it is because he owned Interplay. Kids these days don't know **** about Wasteland, Bard's Tale etc. the games Fargo has actually worked on (designing etc.). -

What if the game doesn't raise 2.1 million? InXile keeps all of the money? -
Obsidian to co-develop Wasteland 2 if 2.1 M is reached
Flouride replied to C2B's topic in Obsidian General
My theory is that it's taking them some time to get their own Kickstarter going (it takes time if you want to do it properly), so teaming up with Fargo gives them some revenue and work for some of their people. Fargo/InXile get great designers helping them out with dialogue etc. and possibly grants them the use of Onyx Engine. I'm still waiting anxiously for Obsidian's very own Kickstarter project, but will donate my 15 dollars for this as well, as soon I bother to figure out how the donation system actually works. -

Dammit. Now I have to donate. -
Well it sounds intresting, not sure if I'm gonna pledge my money though since they seem to have hit their mark already

I agree with Bos_hybrid, you should listen to the fans to a some point, but when you start jumping everytime the loudest part of your fans bark you are doing it wrong. Sometimes the feedback can be helpful, for example whoever thought the Mako driving or planet scanning was fun, was dead wrong. So listening to fans on those issues would help. (Unless there really are people who enjoyed those parts of the game, I personally don't know anyone) I think the correct method is to do the games you yourself want to play and take some of the fan feeback that feels right for you (developer). Adding 15151 romancable chars is not the way to go, even though your (teen and female) fans demand it. Because for every fan demanding char X to be romancable by both male/female/dwarf chars, there's 1 who does not care for that at all, in fact they will feel the total opposite when every damn char in the game is suddenly falling in love with you.

Do you take Euros or Finnish Marks? I might even have few Swedish Kronors?

Revised duckroll's list based on Alvin's info Delaware - Knights of the Old Republic 2 Pennsylvania - Neverwinter Nights 2 Georgia - Alpha Protocol Massachusetts - Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer South Carolina - Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir New Hampshire - Fallout New Vegas Maryland - Dungeon Siege 3 New York - South Park RPG Cancelled Titles: New Jersey - Known as Seven Dwarves while in development, it was something Brian Mitsoda helped develop before it was cancelled. Connecticut - Aliens Crucible, the first Onyx Engine title in development at Obsidian, it was a RPG set in the Alien universe directed by JE Sawyer. North Carolina - Latest major project directed by JE Sawyer, rumored to be a next-generation RPG funded by Microsoft. Recently cancelled. On hold? : Vermont - Scifi RPG with a handful of designers/artists working under the direction of Jason Fader. Could have simply been a failed pitch. Developed in Unreal Engine 3. Virginia - Nothing much is known about this title other than it was a small internal project which was meant to be released in 2011. Could have been the XBLA game which was put on hold. Uses Onyx engine? That still leaves us Project Rhode Island that we know nothing about and maybe the new project as well where Rich Taylor is that director...

It could be the lack of any bonus money from Bethesda sealed the fate of Vermont (for now at least). Wasn't it April last year when Obsidian last had layoffs?
-
The co-op mode was pretty good with just 2 players. Yea, sometimes the camera would **** you over. But most of the time it didn't bother me at least. With 3 or 4 players it was more annoying, but then again I only played for about 1 or 2 hours with 3 or 4 players. Went through the main game and the DLC with Bendu.

Obsidian currently working on new secret project?

Frozen Synapse had it as well and that game was great as MP. -
Obsidian currently working on new secret project?
Flouride replied to funcroc's topic in Obsidian General
Hard to say, it could be many things as PNC was bigger of the two projects they have. It could be a new project for publisher with smaller staff, Kickstarter or a project they are working on to pitch it to publishers. -
Hmm, thats intresting. Vermont uses Unreal and not Onyx?
-
What is their track record? It takes some time to come up with the documents, make the pitch, rewards and not to mention handling the stuff with Kickstarter. Didn't it take Fargo a week or two to get things sorted out with them, even though InXile was ready to go?

Obsidian currently working on new secret project?
Flouride replied to funcroc's topic in Obsidian General
Vermont was something older I would imagine, since it Sydney Wolfram (?) working on it and she was laid off like a year ago. This new project is most likely their kickstarter project. Unless Feargus had an ace up his sleeve with another contract waiting to be signed. -
It's not new for me either, can't remember where and when I heard about it. Thougt it was ******** stupid back then and still do. Though I figured the site would get better in time, too bad it hasn't and I don't see how it would become statistically relevant anytime soon with all the different ways of scoring the games around world while ignoring like 90% of the review scores.

Metacritic sucks, and will continue to suck. The fact that publishers are paying bonuses based on site that does not function in any ways, nor is statistically accurate at all is sick. On topic: Employee number now 107, on monday it was 123
