Hiding Hats
anathanielh replied to Morrowsong's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I’ve never seen consumers so deadset on being anti-consumer. Especially with a feature that can be completely ignored and doesn’t affect them in any way... Why wouldn’t you want an option to hide your helmet when it’s purely up to you whether you want to do it or not. It’s not dark souls... -
Bounces always go to enemies (unless it’s a spell that’s reflected but that’s different or your character is confused/charmed/dominated and they can attack allies). With explosive shot from stuff like serafen’s blunderbuss at the start of the game, that’s foe only. (You can see a yellow circle when highlighting enemies). If it were a red circle, then it would hit allies as well. The blunderbuss modal aoe is the only one that doesn’t really explicitly say what the aoe hits. (It hits the target and everybody around it including allies)

It’s dual wield and the weapons benefit from dual wield attack speed bonus. At range you fire the gun, in melee you swing the sword. I used this build for my first character. The pistol/pistol build has a high burst at the start of the fight (2 shots right after the other) but after that they just fire and reload one at a time. It also benefits fully from full attack skills like flames of devotion, making them even stronger. Pistol/sword is better if you just don’t want to switch weapons and it also makes it so that you can use a certain powerful weapon while still benefitting from dual wield speed. (For example, instead of using a fine sword and a regular sword together and having them switch every hit, it can use a fine sword and regular pistol and only the fine sword would be used in melee with the bonus attack speed from dual wield). Keep in mind that you won’t benefit fully from full attack skills since you’ll only use one weapon at a time. (Primary attack skills better with this build) Also a certain weapon set is made with this build in mind. (Won’t list it here for sake of spoilers)

@anathanielh, several threads on the same topic or companion romance/sex and like/dislike or wished were merged into the existing thread during a forum cleanup. Oh well. The reason I kept my thread separate was to distance it from the arguments about other games and keep it civil and about PoE2. I understand though.

What are people’s thoughts on Sir Athen’s personality? I personally find him quite enjoyable though he is a bit of an ****. His constant quips and burns keep me happy and always make the adventure better. Please be civil and do not mention a character’s real name or physical traits for the sake of spoiler-free goodness.

Aside from the companions (I agree it's too easy to make them like you so it may seem like they all want to eat you out), most of the sex talk is done for comedic effect or makes sense in the situation (ie a brothel or bathhouse). The only nude models I've seen are in the bathhouse, where it makes absolute sense for people to be naked. Also I don't believe genitals are showed either if people have problems with those.

This thread is semi-enjoyable but it just makes me flaccid, dude. I just wanna have a good time. Reminds me of the “player sexual companion” thread but thankfully not as off-topic. Honestly, if OP doesn’t like the women in this game because they aren’t like women in his area, that’s fine. I don’t agree with it in the slightest, but it’s fine. What i can say doesn’t make sense is OP’s statement about the game imitating reality because it’s more “mature”. The thought that this fantasy game with magic, dragons, Eothas statues with probably huge junks, and elves/orlans/aumaua/etc. is trying to be realistic is absolutely deluded to me. Fantasy games can take inspiration from real life (like setting and weapons for example), but they’re definitely not obligated to model reality in any way. It’s the responsibility of the writers to define the rules and world of the game. If you want a history game, there are many elsewhere, but this isn’t it.
