  1. The option to tear the heart out of optimistic wannabe romances is always an entertaining passtime. Especially if you put them down in the most comedic way possible. Perhaps if Juhani could have been convinced to commit suicide I wouldnt have slaughtered her in all subsequent replays of the game. Romance in games is quite often ham-fisted and only makes the player cringe with embarrassment. The whole "tragic loss" thing is always a bit irritating. Like when you can see through the "happy couple" of npcs who're having a wonderful romance then one of them gets blasted as a planet explodes blah blah blah. Unless there's some kind of relivance to the plot and not some silly reward at the end of some obscure conversation tree like "0mg I t3h luv yuo!" unless, of course, it's used properly when that person is dying.
  2. Those who abandon the force have been shown to weaken in its use, like Kyle Katarn etc.
  3. I think the interactivity with your party is being increased severely, so perhaps confrontations with cross-alignment will feature. We can but hope.
  4. First of all, the "catgirl" from Kotor can probably be junked in with JarJar as one of the most annoying characters in an otherwise fairly blameless game. Yoda has a pretty regular robe. I mean, he's about 2 feet tall, he's not exactly going to be trailing around 4 feet of extra robe. Videos of you waving sticks around is not a high priority for me. I just don't like the idea of introducing new saber weapons. I'm a grumpy old man with traditional views. Any idea that simply introduces a "cool" item to a franchise is a gimmick if that item's only purpose within the media is as a "cool" item. I don't mind expansion and innovation, as long as it fits. and Nunchuku don't fit, at least in my mind anyway. What I would like to see is the game being more Mod friendly, but since my question was answered at E3 with a resounding "No" I can't look forward to any such developments.
  5. buy a separate hi-fi. Buy the cds. Listen to cds while having game on.
  6. I think you start off at lvl1 due to some "disconnection with the force". Not sure how that works.
  7. Well since there were very few situations where a diplomatic character was a viable option in the original, I'm assuming the number of battles will be high in this sequel. Perhaps have the colour reflect your alignment, the shape reflect your choice of Jedi path and philosophy. Aggressive lightsabers should look more designed for fighting, one who uses the force more should have a more mystical feel, neutral has a balanced saber between form and purpose. I don't know, I'm just bouncing ideas here.
  8. I ignored the other ideas in your post because they were probably acceptable. That and everyone's too busy arguing about one another that finding actual suggestions within about the middle of the thread becomes an exercise in futility. I really can't see a use for sword-chuks (8-bit). I have no problem with innovation, I just find 'new saber types' to be a gimmick. I know that staff sabers were first introduced with EK, but since ep1 you can't move in a star wars game for someone using these weapons. The idea just grates. It's just perpetuation of the gimmick philosophy. It is adding a new saber type. You can continue your jedi fantasy with your saber whips, nunchuku, wolverine-like claws, bayonets, butter knives and bookmarks. Now, if you were talking about an extension of the stun-baton into a more versatile weapon, i'd agree with you, but simply the moves required with nunchuks or whatever would decapitate, or at least cripple, the user. When my opinion comes up against your gimmick-ridden ideas, I think mine is right. Perhaps you should focus more on the idea and why it'd be good and fit in with the star wars mythos, than attacking people with a contrary opinion to your own? My idea was an alternative which I personally would find to be more in keeping with the Star Wars mythos than the usual range of Gap accessories. I do find that developers do not seem willing to allow clothing over armor, and I don't see why. That is the premise of my idea. I'm not irritable. I just find the majority of ideas being posted here to be laughable and I will condescend those ideas as the fad-inspired tripe they are. Perhaps you didnt pay any attention in Kotor, what with imagining nunchuku and everything, but there was no sense of individuality in the Jedi order. It's much like a monestary where a life of austerity is imposed to allow greater contemplation of one's self and spiritual matters. Some punk in bright orange robes with a thong back and flashing different coloured lightsabers is just plain wrong. In future perhaps you should respond to the argument than the person. Oh, before I forget saying "IMO" or "IMHO" doesn't give your opinion any weight, it merely makes you sound like your suggestion is validated because, goodness!, you're humble. If you can't make a good star wars game without compromising the integrity of the series, then perhaps its time to leave this universe.
  9. At least some graphical representation of your character's choices would be nice. Like the character skin changed with your alignment in the first game, if youre Saber's hilt works in the same way, like as you go more to the darkside the hilt becomes darker and more, well, evil looking. If you're a light-saber weilding manic hell-bent on destruction your hilt should look appropriately aggressive. Perhaps implementing the hilt change like the force crystals in the first game. Where according to the path you've chosen you're offered specific color crystals, but if you choose you can decide to ignore the appropriate hilt and choose another. I think it would just be nice to have a Hilt respond to the user like the weapon actually reflects the character you play.
  10. The thing is; my own opinion is right. You'll learn this as time goes on. Fallout. Great game. Not star wars though, so really there's not a whole lot you can add from the universe which isnt purely game mechanics like branching storylines etc which is not exclusive to Fallout. I'm sure this forum gives the dev's a bit of a laugh at times. I wonder how often "saber whips" come up in meetings. The force is open to interpretation, as all things are. That is why it is a "grey" area and that is why it can't be pinned down.
  11. All sith strive to be the strongest of their order, it is the fundamental lore they adhere to. Malak was weaker than Revan and respected that power enough to not try anything which could possibly fail. I think if you became the most powerful sith you'd do away with whatever masked villain is above you. Effectively, regardless of your choice of path, you're going to fight the sith Lord since that's just the way things work. As good you fight him because he's evil, as neutral there's some other purpose (probably money) and as Sith you want to gain power. Chances are if you go Sith you'll fight your master, much like other CRPGs when if you shifted alignment they turned on you. Or you persuade them to become your dark apprentice, although that's unlikely. Perhaps the universe whould be in real turmoil where there is no good/bad divide. Since the events of the Mandalorian war divided the Jedi, surely the Star Forge divides them further. Some wanting to be far more pacifist since the risk of falling to the dark side has such repurcussions for the Republic. Some wanting to be more active, some being caught in the middle. Then add the lack of an obvious leader like Revan or Malak for split Sith factions, all with different ideas for the Galaxy. A more open than the "good/bad" ending would be appreciated, something which doesn't constrict the player's choices, adds replayability and is not sorted out by a single encounter, but the culmination of a series of encounters/choices throughout the game.
  12. How, exactly, does starting off as Jedi make it the same mistake?
  13. Yes, of course, this feature is an excellent idea. I mean, its not like Developers pay large sums for music which fits in with the atmosphere within the game/story. If you really want to listen to your ©rap while playing a game there's usually the audio option to mute the music. Unless you're using a stone circle era pc to play the game you can probably run winamp or something in the background. Done. As for Williams he's passed his prime, or he just didn't take the score seriously since the plot of the new trilogy doesn't deserve better.
  14. Saber-dagger? Exactly how is this more effective than a regular dagger? Unless of course if the person is wearing sodding great armor when, really, you'd be using a light saber. Don't add things for adding them's sake. Why would a sith needs to knock out an oponent with gas anyway? Either you implant a force-suggestion that you arn't there, you knock them out with force powers. Alternatively you crush their windpipe with the force and slice them in half with your saber. Saber bayonet? Yes, this is far more useful than lightsaber throw, of course! No, wait, it isnt. It's another gimmick idea. I know, lets get a crossbow, which instead of firing bolts, fires lightsabers instead? I mean, you had such a surplus of them from the original game and you didnt even start off killing Jedi until the second half. Think of it!
  15. If I'm not mistaken Corran uses the throttle assembely from a speeder as a crude "shift" mechanism to adjust the length of his lightsaber blade mid-combat. It is also silver to the best of my knowledge. To be honest all these different colors for lightsabers is a bit much. Sith have red. Jedi have blue or green. Silver/white comes from having two crystals for altering saber-length. Thing is, though, in a real-time game system there'd be a point in changing length (much like changing stance in the Jedi Knight games) but in turn based system it doesn't really work. Not unless you implement a stance/style system with specific counters to attacks or differing strengths/weaknesses for those stance/styles. If you want multi-colored lightsabers just stare at a strobe light for 30 minutes then play the game.
  16. Yes! nunchuku Sabers! please let us rape the legacey of star wars forever! Lets see what else can we come up with? Oh yeah, this was dealt with in the saberwhip thread. Jedi robe customisation? No. Jedi robes are to show the Jedi's devotion to the force, not fashion sense. They're to distinguish the Jedi as a select order, that they've given up worldly possession to follow the force and to serve as impartial mediators in the Republic. Jedi robes show station within the Order. The only changes should be minor indications of status along the path of becoming a Jedi Master. To deal with armor/stat alterations why cant you wear armor beneath the robes? Why can't they be upgradable like other armor? Lets have that, not customisable corsets. Oh, and no to sexy, underwear-clad jedi women. If you want that, make a mod or something, leave the rest of us who're mature enough to distinguish between actual female flesh and that of a pre-rendered character in a video game to be able to enjoy a CRPG without thongs for a change. More Saber crystals might be interesting if they don't all culminate in a single combo uber saber like that last game. Make the crystals so that different combinations suit different styles of play, character development choices and perhaps alignment? Hell, be true to Star Wars and only allow you to obtain a Light Saber when you've reached an acceptable level of training, make it a big step. Make it significant.
  17. Dooku used a classical form of Lightsaber battle which lead to him using a curve-handled lightsaber for better performance. I'd like the hilt to be something that derrives from choices made by the character, not something chosen because "it looks cool".
  18. I felt compelled to respond to this thread since it basically sums up a lot of the things which are, effectively, killing off the Star Wars mythos for a lot of the older generation. Take a look at the Star Wars Databank and considder the sheer rediculousness of this idea. It is something you obtain at the end of your training, something you create to show your affinity with the force and becomes as much a part of you as your hand. It is considdered an extension of the Jedi's body, not merely a weapon. Quite why there were so many in the original Kotor is kinda fuzzy. Perhaps there were so many Jedi of full training that turned to the dark side, which begs the question why didn't the Jedi Council combat the Sith with their own numerous Jedi. Lightsabers have no weight on the blade which would make them useless for a normal person using the weapon vs a trained Jedi. Jedi use their force powers to apply momentum to their blade which would otherwise be weightless coupled with glancing blows and parrying. Basically my argument is a resounding no to any form of "gimmick" lightsaber. It's just completely unwarrented and in my, and many other's, opinion entirely stupid. It's just another fad item which degrades from the original attraction of the Jedi order. Lucas screwed up the story arc of the new trilogy with silly things like comedic (or perhaps laughable?) computer generated characters, bad actor choice, hammy dialogue and the directorial ability of a stunned squirrel. About the only effective whip I've encountered is that of the Yuzong Vong's ampistaff which could shift its attributes to confuse the opponent. A light saber whip would be rediculous since the weapon has no weight and wouldn't technologically work with any stretch of the imagination, it would be far too susceptable to being used against the weilder. Whip comes in, parry, whip flies back and decapitates the user. I don't like all this cortosis stuff, I do not like gimmick weapons (ep1 staff blade, ep2 two lightsabers) I do, however, like new styles of combat (ep2 dooku). I didn't read the whole thread because it effectively went to a flame war, I did notice that someone mentioned "before they were a jedi". I can see why you'd think this was a possibility since Luke wasnt a Jedi his whole life, but back in the era we're talking about (4000 years BNR) Jedi were taken at a young age and raised in the ways of the force. I urge Obsidian to considder the implications of their additions to the universe. Please do not allow fads or gimmicks to tarnish the already abused mythos of Star Wars.
