  1. I agree with the curve in WoW being very easy. But sometimes I like a game that really isn't horribly challenging...how good a game is isn't in the challenge, its in the fun. It's been really easy to get the feel of the game, but if they don't add a lot of stuff pretty quick, the game will probably get boring when I get to lvl60 (lvl 41 now, been playing for less than 1.5 months). The cartoon thing is right on. If you like really high quality art and can stand cartoony, low poly count models, WoW is perfect for you visually. It doesn't take a high-end system either. But I seriously am worried about it if I am still playing WoW when KotOR2 comes out, cause I really don't want to sacrifice something, and I know I will. For you doubters, WoW isn't some really hardcore RPG with tons of stats and RPing, its more like Diablo II got smacked with an RPGstick, but if you just want stupid fun, it is a great game.
  2. I have been away from the forums since right before release on the x-box(that always sounds so friggin dirty). Anyway, I wasn't too worried about the wait cause Bloodlines was coming out. Well, that game got a bug that made it unplayable(argh) but shortly after WoW came out. Soon I am going to be faced with a dilemma. The dilemma will be how to schedule class, work, homework, 2 games and friends into my life. Normally my obsession with a game peters out as I beat it and I do not play it obsessively after. But WoW has no end. This is why I avoided the whole damn genre to begin with, I didn't want to have to make choices like this. ARGH
  3. Fallout wasn't exactly hard, it was...sometimes a little difficult. Like, to figure out what you had to do next, or where you should go next. Anyway, my first playtrough of Kotor was pretty easy, because I am an XP point freak. I wanted every XP point I could get so I leveled pretty fast. All the "special" enemies where actually a piece of cake when I first encountered them (Calo, Bandon...) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It all depends on how you play. If you play fallout 2 (never played 1) like I played KOTOR (straight up fighting every thing that was an enemy), it is really hard. In fallout, sneaking around and avoiding conflict was actually important, especially in the early going. In KOTOR you could just run through the game without worrying too much about what was around the corner, that wasn't the case in FO.
  4. I don't know why people make such a big deal out of the EU anyway. Beyond the inconsistencies, it is mostly very poorly done. I can't speak for TotJ, but I read the first collection of (I think this is what it was called) "Golden Age of the Sith", and it was horrible. I've read 15+ of the novels and they were mediocre at best. They were entertaining, but overall not very good. In one novel, a character managed to switch genders several times within the novel...at one point it was a mother, then a father...etc. I was really confused. So let's just say the truth, the EU is a nice "guide", but by no means is it an exhaustive resource.
  5. Everyone has had good ideas (some I agree with, some not) but no one has had a good Malak. Vin Diesel? He would be horrible. He might make an ok Calo though. Malak: I can't come up with anyone good either, but someone should be able to. Revan: Damn near anyone...it would depend on how they were going to play it Bastilla: can't outdo Kate Beckinsale Carth: I'll agree with Kurt Russel because I can't think of anyone better Mission: The girl who played Dawn on Buffy would be pretty good and not nearly as annoying as Hillary Duff Jolee: I gotta agree with Danny Glover, no one does the over the hill wise cracking black man like he does
  6. That always drives me nuts when you run into a path like that. Your "good" character says something smart mouthed, but not necessarily evil, and before you know it you are threatening to kill them and wear their a$$es as hats.
  7. Im not sure why it isn't feasible...at least for the sabers and bladed weapons...all they have to do is make the weapon ride your hip and I would be happy. It always seemed wrong that you have serious conversation you're sitting there with your sword raised.
  8. there was a female of yoda's species in ep1 wasn't there? I think she was on camera for like 2 seconds in the jedi council chamber.
  9. Yeah, but IMO subtle dialogue really adds a lot to replayability...so in my mind it is worth it.
  10. I think the dialogue should be split a little more. For instance, I tried playing KOTOR this last time as a good jedi who was struggling with the dark side...but it didn't work very well. The choices were too cut and dried, it was difficult to be selfish without threatening violence in a lot of situations. Falling to the darkside doesn't just happen all at once.
  11. Rancors...they would eat the chocobos...yum on a rather odd unrelated note, does anyone know how rancors are born, are they from eggs or live birth? If eggs, that would make for an interesting idea...you just carry around your rancor egg until it hatches and slowly raise the tiny rancor ,affectionately named Spuds McKenzie, to adulthood at which point it devours your enemies whole...unless of course they are fast and throw skulls quite well.
  12. I would prefer to be kept almost completely in the dark, even general info could detract from the experience somewhat. I don't want to know anything about the storyline that you don't pick up in the first portion of the game, and so far I think that Obsidian has done a good job with that, they release characters' names and class but little else.
  13. It would be interesting if one of the generic "masked" bad guys you defeat early on, later infiltrates your group as an NPC because he/she knows that he/she can't beat you head on.
  14. I think it would be cool if different styles were just feats that you could get better at. If you wanted you could put a point in all of them and switch for different situations...or you could just be 3 levels deep in one and just be a bad mutha in one of them.
  15. I don't think my idea is probable, but I do think it plausible. And depending on how they did it, it would not necessarily have to be a revelation. I do tend to agree that they should bring back the characters in major, but limited roles though. However, something needs to be done for continuity. Bastila coming back as the villian may be too heavy handed. But I like the idea of making the stories tie tightly together. Little cameos would be nice, but they'd be just that...cameos. I want something more concrete, though probably more subtle. I think that might be why I am not a proffesional game designer or writer, course lots of proffesional game designers and writers are far too heavy handed.
  16. Oh, I know that something that major is already in or out, but I came up with the idea on the way home from work, and it a quite plausible concept.
  17. What if Bastila was the ultimate sith behind the "sith lords"? It would fit pretty well. Most people saved her in the end, either by making her their apprentice or by sparing her life. She then could either fall to the darkside again for a LS ending, or defeat her master for a DS ending. However, Revan survives this second betrayal and that's why he/she disappears. It is a stretch for a major plot concept, but it would be interesting and twisty enough for an RPG of this sort.
  18. I kinda like those touches that are reminiscent of the movies. As long as there aren't too many of them, they add something to the game. Though I agree, a rancor would be too much, the concept of being dropped into a pit with a giant beast has been done in at least 2 of the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games. Dueling, as well as most bounty hunting should affect alignment.
  19. On a related note, I'd like to see more varied level content on worlds. It would be nice to come back to a world several times and have at least some new content, rather than pretty much running through the world once and being done. If there were more quests like the genoharrden ones, it would add a more dynamic feel to the game.
  20. I like the idea of having your own sith army, but why have it stop there. Make it a series of subquests for the dark individual, so they have to teach, or order their underlings to do things. Similar things could be done for a light sider, except with them, they'd give republic troops orders. It wouldn't even have to be very in depth, but a little would go a long way.
  21. It looks too dark. Dantooine was all sunny and happy, course, who knows what a serious bombardment from a fleet floating above would do to the atmosphere.
