  1. The screenshots don't look much better than TS2, but the info is fab. The fact that the game will no longer be lot based is pretty awesome, and the traits system sounds nice.
  2. I just want to make it clear that I don't agree with nightshape that "there is no good or evil". There is good and evil, it's just that which is which depends on who you ask, and if people disagree how can it be so obviously black and white? Like you, I think rape is an evil act, but how many times (on this very forum) have you seen people claim they want a particular criminal to get raped in prison? I think wanting someone to be raped is pretty evil, but obviously those who believe in eye-for-an-eye style justice don't think the issue is so black and white.
  3. That is a fabulous argument. Congratulations. BTW, you're evil.
  4. Believing that good and evil are a matter of perspective does not mean believing that there is no good and evil. I believe certain acts are evil, but I don't expect everyone to agree with me and them insult them when they don't. "Some issues are black and white and if you don't agree with me then you're a ****". This is the attitude that is arrogant, in that same way it's arrogant to dimiss someone as a "liberal crybaby" if they are anti-war or a "conservative nutjob" if they are pro-war. Who are you to decide what's black and white and gray?
  5. PETA probably thinks it's evil, but I'm sure the farmers who do it don't think so. I personally think it's pretty horrible, but I think evil is too strong a word for it. Unless your intention is actually to hurt the animal because you think their suffering is funny, then I'd probably call it evil. So intent is pretty important. Or is it? Take my avatar for example, Dexter is a serial killer who only kills other serial killers. There are people who think he is a monster who must be stopped and others who think he is a vigilante stopping monsters. Is he a good man (because he punishes killers) who does evil things (because he kills), or an evil man (because he enjoys killing) who does good things (because he punishes killers)? If the world is as black and white as The Architect claims, this should be an easy question to answer. Or perhaps this is one of those conveniently gray areas. When does an issue because black or white, when the majority agrees? Jews believe the soul enters the body at birth and so abortion is allowable (though not encouraged) and this is obviously not something Christians agree on. So who is right? Abortion is a black issue and Jews are wrong, or is abortion really a gray issue and Christians are wrong?
  6. This is true. Exactly. If people think that female genital mutilation is all fine and dandy, simply telling them that they're evil for thinking that isn't going to change anything.
  7. But what if that old lady is trying to cross the street so she can rape and burn a kitten?
  8. "To be the one responsible for removing that inferior race from the planet is truly a great honour." "It feels so good knowing you hold a persons life in your hands, and then to take it feels even better." "I showed her a good time and got what I wanted. The struggle was all part of the fun. She wanted it and she loved it." "The flames are so beautiful, I could watch them for hours. What a great way to get rid of the disgusting little vermin. "You think murdering an innocent child is a morally debatable topic? You are a truly evil person." Good and evil are labels we put on things based on the beliefs shaped by our society and our own individual experiences. Nothing is inherently good or evil, and to claim some issues are black and white whilst others are gray is to arrogantly assume your views are the right ones.
  9. ^ There is no explicit sex in the Euro version.
  10. Is the full dialogue really that much better? That quote I saw everyone showing as proof of how awesome and mature the original text was just seemed juvenile.
  11. I thought the (rather long) tutorial was boring and ending up doing it in a couple sittings, but I figured I should stay with it and I'm really glad I did. Basically, don't be surprised if it doesn't float ya boat straight away.

    But what if they're jerks?
  13. Of course it does. Now would you kindly spank yourself for not experiencing its awesomeness.
  14. ^ Heh. To slow, but what can ya do...
  15. Well, no, I meant streamline. Is it called streaming in industry? Anyway, my point is that, like Dan says, "open" in terms of level design is to do with linearity rather than loading times. I think some people get confused by Morrowind/Oblivion's style and think that only games which streamline loading can be open-ended. That's far from true. "Open-ended" and "open world" are two different things. What make the Elder Scrolls, the Gothics, and the GTAs (and all it's clones) open world is that they all take place in one huge "level".
  16. "Open world" doesn't mean no load times. Both Oblivion and the GTA games featured load times when going indoors. Like Bloodlines and Deus Ex, both The Darkness and Thief 3 feature central hubs you can move between, but a game which allows you to move between its levels is still level based. It's just a non liner level based game, as opposed to linear level based games like most FPS.
  17. I want to be able to shoot the radios of enemies like in MGS2/3. Trying calling for backup now, jerks.
  18. No one in Europe wears baggy pants and sneakers. No one.
  19. It's a quirky third-person action/adventure game for PC and perhaps Xbox 360. It has the PC leaping between different classic litterary works that have been corrupted by a very naughty person, thwarting enemies and solving neat physics-based puzzles on the way American McGee's Grimm?
  20. If Alpha Protocol doesn't allow me to make agents with 2m heads then it will be Alpha Protocol in name only. Apologies to Gfted1. And the rest of the internet.
  21. I've borrowed my nephew's PS3 while he is on holidays, and I'm currently playing update. Sometime I'll get around to DMC4.
  22. Well it's not medieval fantasy, that's a start.
