  1. Understandable. Some people love it and some people hate it.. I definitely agree it's not the best experience in the rpg world and it's probably a bit bordeline on terms of parody. I mean, you can make 2 cats fall in love but you cannot romance with a companion lol So there's alot of "strange development choices" going on in the game. Larian has always had this comic-relief quality though, even the first Divinity was kinda like a Diablo parody in that way. Never taking anything seriously. Divinity 2 pushed things more and D:OS just got crazy with everything. Ex. My character is on a quest and suddenly gets transported to another dimension for barely a reason. I compared my experience with D:OS with the experience I had with "Zenith" which is a full on parody of Final Fantasy. It was a nice experience for me but if you ask what I prefer, yes, I'd probably prefer a more serious game with well thought out world and dark tones. Especially if I'm interested in lores, character development and so on.
  2. I failed. Meh, I'm not paying $60 for a PC game. Even back when I was buying console DVD's I could usually find a sale for $10 off. I have a well worth paying job but I rarely buy games at $60. Maybe I've become cheap, or maybe I've become extremely picky when it comes to AAA titles. However, that new Darksiders 3 games is one of those exceptions, Ace Combat 7 is another.
  3. I loved the last Bioshock but considering that I got it for extremely cheap, that may have factored into it. I thought it was the most interesting and balanced of thr 3 but judging by thr video, seems like I'd enjoy Prey more than any of the Bioshocks. Sometimes I think the Bioshock games are overrated - as alot of triple A games are these days. As far as Fallout 4, there was a few great moments here and there - I'll say this, I love the engine, color pallette and art style that Fallout 4 utilizes. Much better than the dead grays and browns that was in FO3 but other than that it's hard to say that anything in FO4 was "quality". Even the character creation is outdone by Saints Row 2 if we're to be honest. I must confess though, I've never tried mods with FO4. What was the better Fallout game: Fallout 3 or Fallout 4? I'm not going to put it up against New Vegas because it's not by Obsidian lol As for Skyrim, my love and hate relationship comes from the opposite side of the spectrum. Skyrim (to me) isn't really anything good without mods. I found the map, the dialogue and the story to be horrid. The dungeons, caves, etc were poorly designed in my opinion. I have 50 hours of just fiddling with mods and probably only half of that of playing the game. I enjoyed Oblivion much more. Like FO4, I felt like Skyrim was unfocused.
  4. That's a good way to look at it too. I thought the last 2 updates were kind of lackluster... mainly because I thought it would be better to put all that info somewhere else instead as an update. So perhaps you're right, maybe they've been saving it up for a huge update which would be great. They should be at least, it's only fair to give backers great updates (I realize the OP isn't a backer yet because no badges or maybe they haven't confirmed their pledge?) but I'm speaking in general.
  5. If a dev were to chime in, they'd say something along these lines: "Hang tight! We're cooking up something amazing for you all ;)" As opposed to: "Give us a break, we're a bit busy at the moment..." I don't think requesting an update about the game is a bad thing or anything people should get offended about. The OP doesn't seem like they were meaning to attack anyone. I see what they are saying, now that the campaign is over we'll get something meaty like we were in earlier in the campaign. Of course they're working on the game but they are constantly updating twitter, tumblr and facebook so what's the difference of writing an update focused on the game? Just saying. So yes OP, you can expect ACTUAL exciting updates soon! :D
  6. That's what I thought about FO4 as well. See, I have a love/hate relationship with Skyrim and FO4. Both games have a ton of problems but FO4 seems very unfocused and like they tried to do too much with it. The basebuilding and collecting crafting items kills the game for me. If I want a building game, I'll take Terraria or Minecraft. The FPS mechanics are tuned better this time around so shooting enemies is much more satisfying and engaging but some people hate how VAT's doesn't stop time completely, instead just slowing time forcing the player to make decisions in an alotted time frame. The dialouge system is rigged lol There's 4 or 5 options but instead of saying different, they all say the same thing but in different words or phrasing. It's an action game in disguise if an rpg really.
  7. The last 2 updates were underwhelming if that's what you mean, especially if you don't like numbers lol Yes, we'll get a great update focused 100% of the game itself soon!
  8. Nothing really outrageous, to be honest.I look forward to indie games being announced at E3 that aren't on the list. I have really enjoyed indies these last 2 years quite more than I have any AAA title.
  9. What did you guys think of the "More voice-overs" stretch goal? I know some people were frustrated at it.
  10. I failed. If you paid full price, you may as well play it now to get your money's worth, write up a review about it, etc. If you wait to play/finish it then you may as well just waited to buy it on sale. I'm planning to pick and pucker it up on sale, the title interests me but not enough for me to justify spending full price. Enjoy!
  11. So that rumor on a new Wolfenstein appearing at E3... Do you guys think it's true?!
  12. Yeah I see where you're comimg from. For some people like myself, we tend to catagorize anime as an art style or genre of its own, rather than a general word for cartoons as a whole. Of course, the audience it attracts has something to do with that too. Suddenly now in the mood to play Nitroplus Blasterz or Corpse Party here! Maybe even Galak-Z cuz... Macross :D
  13. I hope they don't change the look of the character, at first I thought she looked generic but her design has really grown on me quite a bit. The more I look at this game, the more I like it.
  14. The big difference is that nobody here has a problem with weebs or anime so I'm not sure how people are getting that impression and I sure hope nobody is getting offended. There's no reason for anyone on this thread to get frustrated as it is all about one's perception and grasp to relativity. I own waifu fighters, I own air-dash fighters, I own games that are based off both anime and visual novel characters so I'm definitely not against anime in any way. The fact that I don't percieve or relate a non-anime based character to anime culture or try to pinpoint every single similarity shouldn't make me look like I have a problem with anime. Clearly I don't. Sorry to disappoint anyone who thought I was on the anime-hater wagon. Again, I don't think that anyone here "hates" anime or has a problem with "weebs", at least there hasn't been any proof of that, it's just people disagreeing that a character looks or seems anime. It's not as big of a deal as it's being made out to be but oh well, it's the internet... what can ya do? Lol
  15. LOL! So by that definition Nightmare Before Christmas, Harley Quinn (from Batman), Insaniac (from Small Solidiers) and Gex are anime.... Aside those few, there are literally tons of different art styles/character designs out there that feature the very same things you mention but sadly, people only acknowledge anime to having them. As if anime was the first art style to popularize or introduce these things to a general public - it wasn't, anime is just using things currently like everything else so I'd argue that anything is anime-inspred... unless it's a waifu fighter, visual novel/dating sim or Jrpg of course. That's pretty much about it. If we keep going, next Soul Calibur will be anime-inspired because of Ivy and Starfox will be furry inspired Nice jumping of the shark.Seriously, she is an anime looking character. Get over it. Her eyes are laughably huge, she literally looks like a cartoon, her head is too big, her hair is actually animated for some reason, not to mention huge, her proportions are no where near realistic, and all her dialog confirms she is a walking cliche. Yes, that is pretty animeish, and all of those features are common in cliche anime heroines. Well maybe not the weird moving hair thing. All you are are really noticing is the fact that bad character design is consistent across all cultures, so it is easy to see crappy anime characters in western media, and vice versa. Also in case you forgot your animation history, the father of American animation Walt Disney was inspired by Osamu Tezuka who made Astro Boy, not the other way around. I can't even begin to tell you how many "American" cartoon shows I grew up watching were actually anime. Such as the king of all "American" Kids Cartoon shows, GI Joe. If you want a more comprehensive description of what her design is, without any cultural indicators, I can give it to you in one word. "Crap". Also you do realize Soul Caliber is made by Bandai-Namco (or is it Namco-Bandai, I can never remember) right? A Japanese company, whose original games artists are all definitely Japanese, making characters designed to look like anime characters? Or did you think this concept art was a Western design? Japanese doesn't mean anime though. Just because it's made by Japanese and by the culture where anime originated, it doesn't mean that it should be forced or classified as anime. I'm nt denying that they're are similarities but to try to pass something off as anime just because it has some things in common or is from same place of origin doesn't make sense to me. Sorry. I don't have a problem with anyone having an opinion that differs from mine in the matter of Fury or Ydwin, I just happen to find it interesting. I can agree with you that it's bad character design though, and a bit generic but at least the armor is better thought up than a battle bikini. Still, Fury reminds me more of the female Dragon Knight in Divinity II more than anything - you might find her anime-esque as well but I just find her to be cartoonish.
  16. LOL! So by that definition Nightmare Before Christmas, Harley Quinn (from Batman), Insaniac (from Small Solidiers) and Gex are anime.... 17. So far only Fury has been revealed as a playable character, I ~think~ Strife may be revealed as a playable character later. She does look Blizzardish!!! You're right LOL
  18. Speaking of which... I was thinking today, I wonder when people will relate Fury (Darksiders III) to anime (maybe they already have)... Thin, tall, long legs, big boobs, big butt, big eyes. None of that screams "anime" directly (if it does then something is wrong here lol) - since women can possess all these attributes in real life and such but I suppose people out there will relate Fury to anime like they try to relate anime with every other game/character, eh? :/
  19. I already started writing down all the areas I can't access due to too low hacking/lifting/whatever skills. Played like 3 hours of it, incidentally. There's definitely a lot more System Shock to it than anything, including the original games's "We'll give you a bigass space station and you're free to toy around in it". Combat is a bit clumsy, but I get a feeling that's purposeful - the game seems to prefer players figuring out more creative ways of defeating opponents than just gunning them down. I'm rather pleasantly surprised by the fact that there's a -lot- you can explore completely outside the critical path, which is nice. Speaking of, enemy designs are all fairly clever thus far, it's not just the mimics that the internet keeps yapping on about (who are, incidentally, not nearly as scary as the internet would have you believe) I'm reasonably impressed so far. We'll see if that remains. Edit: I also recycled myself. It wasn't the smartest thing I've done. Is it anything like Alien Isolation? I haven't played the first System Shock to compare in my mind lol
  20. Yep, it's that kind of hair that looks like it's always underwater lol Day 1 for me definitely though, I trust that the weapon vfx will be much better soon. That's a sexy outfit, I ain't gonna lie. I can't wait to see Vulgrim - I wonder how much his appearance will change.
  21. I thought it deserved it's own thread as there are fans of the game series here and I didn't want it to derail the other thread too much. My thought: Meh... watching the video, it just doesn't seem like it has that "Darksiders" feel to it. The weapon doesn't have that oomph, the perspective is closer to the character giving it a more modern feel (I was hoping for a further camera angle). The character looks awesome, so does the enemies. What do you guys think?
  22. I feel like I've heard the name Brian Blessed before but not sure exactly where...
  23. Hmmm...What makes your comment more meaningful/valid than anyone else's on this thread? Especially when the majority on this thread agree that the anime comparison got annoying and long-winded. Whether it was a joke or not, it got carried on to the point where people disliked Ydwin. Talk about the community unintentionally created negative hype or energy. I'm only asking because you say "Meaningless" but then don't give a reason why before giving your own thought but it looks like you're one of the ones that wants to force the connection to anime within the world of Pillars. I don't the majority would think it would be funny, I'm sure they think it would be a waste of resources. People who have backed the game wouldn't want there money going to waste on jokes now, would they?
  24. Gauntlet for about 45 minutes tonight. Sometimes it's nice to play a game and not worry about story, inventory, etc. Ya know?
  25. Well... Thank God we'll never see Ys or Final Fantasy-esque charaters in Pillars Of Eternity. No matter who tries to tell me different, my mind can be at ease with that!
