First of all, already having level 2 spells will help you a great deal. You are in a forum where literally months have been spend on discussing this game, so obviously people talk a lot about that one great spell. But don't worry... for example, level one tanglefood and sunbeam are some very good spells. Level two autum's decay is an increduble nuke for example. Truth is, after months of playing a game, you automatically think of certain extremly good high level spells. But there are many extremly potent low level spells that stay relevant throughout the entire game. And just when they are at the stage of becoming irrelevant, they become per encounter and suddendly they are hugley important again. But aside from one or two, people don't tend to talk a lot about them.

You can, but in true English form you can also say "Je ne sais quoi" because if there's one thing the English language does best, it's steal from other languages. It's like the old saying about English not having a word for schadenfreude. It's nonsense, of course we have a word for schadenfreude, it's schadenfreude. (I feel like I need an award because I spelled correctly schadenfreude first try) I hate to tell you, but all nouns in german are spelled with capital letters... so it should be "Schadenfreude" Sorry... I just had to

And remember: The pillars characters are all broken lifes in one way or another... It probably does not take a very strong person to follow them, just abit of charisma and/or that "certain somethig" (can you say that in english?) For example, up until recently I rolled a 2 might CC Wizard with very high resolve, int and per to play a good main while still being a caster. Do you think she could convince the others to follow her based on physical strength?

thank you for that compliment ... And hello fellow mind -
Does a general need to be at an physical advantage over his fellow soldiers? What sepreates a leader is in many cases not his strength. It is maybe his wits. Maybe his charisma. Maybe his determination. Your druid posses maybe not physical thughness, but he does posses the last three. And from a BG point of view, that fits... Your character is not strong. I think I even wrote that he got alng by slaying ghuls and wichts. He is a failed monster hunter, not a living legend. Remember that One question: Which spells and how frequently do you use?

Okay.... If you get hit to much drop the quaterstaff for now and pick up a small shield and spear. Instead of veterans recovery pick weapon and shield style. You will have a nice boost to deflection and a valuable boost to accuracy from the spear. By plain armour do you mean clothes? If you have our guy in frontline, give him something heavy... Plate, Brigandine, Chain... at least Breatsplate I'd say. Don't open with spiritshift. Let eder engage, then shift and attack while everyone focuses on eder. As soon as you turn back, you will be able to hold your ground with all the protection. Also, if you respec anyway, consider boosting athletics. Second wind is, especially for an beginner and ealry on, an excellent panic button, so you should maybe boost that.

I'd like to add to what Jerek is saying... this game has a learning curve, you will come from nothing to something. There is no sudden moment of realistation, learning is continous... don't expect to much from yourself at this early stage, and don't be afraid to ask questions. I wish I would have done that earlier

Questioning Iovara

I want there to be a meaning to our lives, but I've failed to find it so far. If all there is is a meaningless journey, I'm not interested; who wants to walk a thousand miles just for the sake of walking them? Okay, here is how I see the matter of life, and the sense of life. Try to envision your own death. What do you see? Black, maybe? Darkness? Or maybe you see your funeral? Your beloved, grieving at your coffin? I can assure you, you do not see what will actually be the case: Your own non existance. No, not blackness. There will be no blackness. There will be nothing, because you yourself won't be. But our minds are limited. They are not capable to envision their own non-existance. So, we conclude that that simply cannot be the case. That there will be no end. But everywhere we look, we see death. That is in great contrast to what our mind has concluded. But rather than questioning it's conclusion, it tries to combine the two. We want there to be a reason. A reason why all of this happened. Why we can not live forever. Why we live in the first place if it all has an end. In our search for a meaning we create our own meanings. Most notably, we create religions. And with it, we create the idea of an afterlife. We create the idea of being chosen by a god or gods. We create the idea of having a greater purpose, a greater task, something else than sheer survival and procreation. In conclusion, we create the idea of a meaning of life. And that thought stuck with us. The idea of being meant for some greater purpose is extremly encouraging. The idea of being chosen by a higher power is extremly uplifting. The idea of having a protective good we can relate to in desperate times is extremly comforting. So resenting these ideas is hard for us, especially wince we have been brought up with them. But I think that happyness lies in acceptance of the fact that there is no greater purpose. That life has no meaning. That it will all end, that end is unavoidable, that there is no higher power or afterlife to reward us for what we have done in our lifetime. And while this may at first seem very decouraging, there lies beauty in senselessness and the randomness of life. Because if there is no greater meaning to everything, if our very existance is a short spike of randomness in an universe where everything must come to an end and nothing lasts forever, then that means that we have no greater meaning to pursuit in life other than that what we choose to pursuit. We create our own meaning. And by doing so, by taking controll over who we are, by giving meaning to the meaningless. And I find it extremly uplifting and encouraging that who I am lies in no hands but my own. We have the ability to think. So why should we waste what little time we have following false ideas? Why not start thinking on your own? -

Well the alternative is to either not walk at all or stray around in pointlessness... Let me explain what I mean, I just need some time to write it down so that it is understandable I tend to think graphically... So... -
Should the EU become the United States of Europe? What do you think?

I would definitely not call it a sense of guilt... Rather a sense of responsibility to stop similar situations from happening in the future. Do we consider PEGIDA Nazis? Some surely do. I think that's to extreme. We all consider them nationalists, and there is a certain... Aversion towards that. Here is a fun fact: in Dresden, where PEGIDA and similar organisations are especially popular, there are only around 5% immigrants living there... In Frankfurt, there are around 30% immigrants living there, and I rarely ever experience racism or right extremism. -
Yes, I understand that, but it takes long time to cast, while abilities are quite always fast.. furthermore, if I'm in the fray, it's hard to exit and not be followed, I'll be dead already... And most magics I have damage my own party too... positioning is the key. Have the Druid not standing alone, have him fighting alongside your tank. That way, when spiritshift ends, you can easily get him out of trouble. Damage spells only the red part hits your party, not the yellow. Yellow gets bigger the more int you have. But you probably already know that. Just making sure Since your Druid has some Res, you could try make him a more frontliner-character.... With a spear and a small shield (no acc penalty) as well as some decent armour, so you can stay where you are even when spiritshift ends. Also, you can make use of all those beautiful cone spells. If you do that, you could maybe go with nature's vigour for level one spell mastery, as well as choosing veterans recovery. So, when your Druid hits level 9, he can hold his ground.

Heh, I need to get the hang of that German sense of humour. I'm serious... It's an important lesson Germany had to learn the hard way (and hasn't fully learned it seems... Look at PEGIDA) -

There is no "definite point" to journey, but it enhances your life. You could spend your life as a sheer mater of existing, or you could start thinking. And we all do that... To me, it seems like thinking is the only difference between survival and life. But there is no reason as in a necessity to why we should think. It's completely optional to do so, but since I do not believe in any form of afterlife, to me it seems like a waste not to. But I'd love to hear different opinions. If neither seems attractive to you, what do you think? -

The unification of Germany was largely a huge diplomatic effort and it succeeded. Which was very unlikely, considering how high most of the German countries valued their independence. But Bismarks Germany was largely unified at a table, not on a battlefield.
