  1. I'm going for a test.... I'll let ya all know how it fares.... P.s. What concept shall I choose behind this MC? Background? Abilities? Such as survival (obvious choice)...mech?
  2. I doubt I'm experienced enough to handle a situation like that.... but I'll try my best
  3. It may absolutely be fun and unique... but from the last posts I haven't understood if it's melee or ranged... when I read spiritshift I thought it was melee...
  4. That's it. I don't want to give up playing, and now I'm looking for your advice, you people that know this game well, to achieve what I'm looking for. First of all, I want to say that I want to thank everyone of you guys who has been giving suggestions and encouragements to me, for I really want to play this game as it deserves to be. Now.. let's look at the character. PoE master boeroer ( ) recently came out with a particular paladin, an elf with spear who is adept at charming foes. I want to take inspiration from this kind of build as this is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. It perfectly summarizes the MC that is kinda unique, and with a perfectly thought bg. Now... unless I try and play exactly THAT character, this leads to what I am expecting to play. A character with unique abilities, someone that stands out. A MC that makes you say "no other char does what I do". At first, I thought my idea of undead hunter could be as I just described. But then, I realized that, while maybe not so efficiently, every paladin, fighter, cleric... just everyone slays undead and spirits. So, when I said "I can't feel my MC's power or presence" I was just missing some kind of UNICITY that makes me enjoy my character in EVERY detail, from bg to carefully chosen stats and equipment. So, without further annoying you with my philosophical thought, I just want to be unique. This is what will make me enjoy this game. Anyone has a suggestion? Just not min maxed, exactly like the aforementioned build is. Thanks from the deep of my old fashioned gdr addicted heart
  5. You're totally right. And you know what? I keep refusing to let this game go, just for the reason I played the other games, and I can't understand why I don't enjoy this now...
  6. But wait man. You KNEW this when you bought it. Why complain about it now? You're absolutely right. Matter is... I come from BG. IWD. PS:T. All played. I dunno why I can't go on right now. It's that.... I mean... look at "the witcher"... You're immersed there. You're part of it. What you do AFFECTS the world. Here in PoE... you just go on... Caldara sends you to Maerwald. Marwald sends you to Defiance Bay.... No choices. Just follow the story. Read a book.... @Ben... sorry to contradict you, but.... Optical epicness is something I'll never find in this kind of crpg... tiny pixelated creatures are hardly impressive. But it's how it's meant to be. In crpgs story is more important than sheer graphic. Only here... story is veeery driven. You just can't divert.
  7. I played both bg1&2. But that was the standard back then. There was no good graphics, no voiceovers... now I value quality and graphics along with gameplay. And sadly, my paladin is just a tiny toon which is not epic at all, at least aesthetically. Moreover, it doesn't make any difference which character you play. Dialogues are just the same..
  8. Well to be honest... skyrim is another game that I just didn't understand... I played some hours of it just to discover that all I had to do was roam around the villages... I found more appeal in the Dragon Age series, while everyone keeps telling it sucks. I was a mage, and when I rolled that blasted staff I wrecked havok. the magics were spectacular, and the graphic is astounding. Cassandra unrolls the story for you, and there's no way the herald of andraste can pack his bags and go home...
  9. Aeons... I just can't see the story. I ended up in Defiance Bay without knowing why. I go around the map (usually tiny) without ever feeling part of it... Just enter every possible door or hole, kill and come back.. I'm sure it's just ME that's the problem...
  10. Nonono... it's not a matter of low level. It's a matter of immersion. I don't even know what face I have in this game.. Walls of dialogues and nothing particularly fitting for my playstyle... Everytime I play I'm bored after twenty minutes...
  11. Aeons, it's not just a sensation of weakness... it's not about being badass... it's about silly movements... it's about graphics that are too shabby to show some real power... it's a mechanic thing I think. Add this and the fact that this game has no class quests, and being fighter, cipher or anything else is just the same...
  12. Yeah boer... I still got this feeling... I know this game is more rpg than many others but I can't get involved in it... dunno why... I try to go on, but after a bit I get bored by the lack of... something that keeps me want to go on... this didn't happen in other games, such as dai.... I feel my char lacks in power, epicity...
  13. Yes, guys, I can't enjoy my MC. I dunno why, he's just what I wanted to build, my ghost hunter. But it's so... common... it's.... just it doesn't do anything special... no dialogues, no mech, just hit hit hit.... I begin to think it's my fault... maybe I'm expecting something that this game will never give me... I'm depressed.
  14. Welcome first of all! From what you say, I guess your class should be priest. While not tanky as a paladin, he's versatile like no other, and the fact that he has a chosen divinity adds to the flavor of the roleplay. Chanters are very passive in combat, so I'd avoid them. Lore-wise, the Orlans have a high impact on the game. As to what concerns the dialogues, if you go couple pages back, in this forum, you'll find a thread I opened. A gentle fellow wrote a list of dialog options divided by class and race. Can't remember the title but it has to do with paladins and priests... give it a try!
  15. Huh, I'm surprised you managed to do the ogre level if you struggled with the drake. I suspect with a few more tries you'd have been able to beat him. It's true what you say, no ogres. Just jumped down the pit
  16. Uhm ok, I thought it was way after 8th level.. 8th is fine I think... As for the drake in Od Nua... I got there level 5 and we all died, the first time...
  17. The bucklers are just tiny little frisbees... The other bigger ones just make you clumsy with everything you make... Dunno... maybe I'd like 'em... Badgradr is cool... but comes late afaik...
  18. I see, BUT... I'm kind of a traditional guy, who likes shields on paladins. Not having particularly awesome shields is the reason I'm going 2h...
  19. Yeah...still don't understand why Maw was meant for barbarians... bah...
  20. Oh sh*t, I forgot it's a large shield.... you're right... I could go with the outworn then....
  21. I also thought of using arbalest...for dwarf flavor, you know... Tidefall is great... if I'm correct it requires 10mech...to spot.
  22. Apart from what FOE means... did you (op) try this mage? how does it fare? If anyone can dish out a PROPER necromancer, I'd be interested... and for "proper" I mean that it MUST be a mage... lemme knoooow
  23. Hey, tonight's my last dutyshift, so tomorrow I'm gonna try and play this pala-priest-undead-spirit-hunter. Was wondering a thing: Before I can reach the optimum setup with weapons and all.. shall I keep shield/weapon (for example the sword in Caed Nua is anti-spirit..) along with larder door for example to maximize FoD... or shall I keep the same combination and take a plain simple rifle and greatsword? The only good greatsword comes from raedric...early on at least..
