You know... I agree with you, but I find it damn difficult to create the character and go on with it for more than a bit. I always find it very annoying to just punch enemies' faces. This is the reason I look for scouts/vanguards etc. You roam maps just to kill encounters... maybe I'm doing something wrong.. That said... Aumaua for a pirate? What does he need? Dex/Mig? Res? There's also a specific bg that says I'm a sea raider...

Six barbarians? It's a horde, not a party! (please note I play a barbarian in tabletop, lol) I know about the paladins' particular code of conduct, but I believe it's very restrictive for the advantages it gives you.. You know my real dream? Play a sort of darin buccaneer/pirate. Two weapons or rapier+buckler. That'd be fun and cool!

Ok. Maybe I was lacking PoE lore then. I couldn't see a rude and uneducated barbarian be the mouth of the group. I'm too old-school for that. Bards, Paladins, Fighters even...they do the talk. Rogues, Bards, Rangers...they do the scouting.. So..this means that in this game the only thing that tells a class apart from the other is the abilities and mechanics?? Ow... Now I'm very confused about what to do.. No fun in being always on the front kicking arses... hit hit hit...

No. Tank is the least of the things that I care for. I have Edér in that role, Kana even. I care for dialogue options, trap detecting, scouting.. Try to imagine you're sitting at a table playing your favourite rpg. Now the group will elect someone who will be ahead during exploration, someone who can be the mouth of the group, and of course someone that can even hold his own if in combat. This doesn't necessarily mean tank. This is what I'm asking for. I know the player character is the one who speaks, but I want to do it properly and with many options.

Nono, I play easy mode anyway, I favor roleplay over the rest so difficulty is not as important as story plot for me. I'm just thinking at the two characters that I got on the scales: monk and chanter. Two different approaches, two different playstyles, both suit me. What I'd like, as I said at the beginning, is be an excellent frontman, not just the one with the most hp or the bigger fist.

Mmm... does mechanics also allow you to SPOT traps or only to disarm them? I have a monk in my playthrough which is doing good, and I wonder if with stealth I will be able to spot the traps... I'm saying this because...well I don't understand how it works...that is: If I'm the frontliner, then it's me who goes ahead. But if I don't spot traps we'll be all dead in no time..

Hi there, I'm trying to figure out what the best frontman of the game could be. It's just an exercise of the mind, nothing more, but I wonder if some kind of character like this could be viable: Someone who can: -Talk with people and get most answers availabile -Scout ahead and come back just to remove fog of war -Disable traps -Fight ahead of the front of the party -Of course survive.. All this may sound like a rogue, but I'm sure maybe some of you may have different approaches to the concept, or maybe have even played this archetype. Difficulty is not important, as aren't race, bg, whatever, as long as you reach the abovementioned purpose. Someone ever tried?

I like a bit of high Con and Mig just to "remember" I'm a dwarf As for the talk options, I like both Perception AND Resolve, and would like to be balanced between the two. That's because I imagine a monk having also good reflexes, and to me, resolve also means this. I reckon that dialog options will require maybe 15/16 of those stats, so I think I can eventually use objects to reach good values, right?
-
Cool, but I'd like to stay unarmed or with a quarterstaff at best. I'm looking to be as monk-ish as I can.. So.. you are saying to me that the best dialogue stat would be Per? I thought even Res had a major role... As soon as I get this answer I'll start the game... I can't change stats with respec, can I?
-
So this is what I chose: Boreal dwarf, from Ixamitl, scholar, war background with calisca. Stats are: Mig 15 Con 12 Dex 15 Per 14 Int 10 Res 12. Seems very fast, and hits somewhat tough. He has Lore 2, Survival 1, Athletics 1, Stealth 1. i assume this is correct and viable, yes? Any object I should take asap?
-
So I understand you'd focus on lore and survival correct? This way I'd be capable of throwing athletics in without spreading too thin.. that's not bad, I can have someone else do the scouting section... I like the dwarf ranger for instance.. Fox's really cute...he he... All in all...I think it can be a fun and powerful character...and I love dwarves he he

My bad Boe, I mistook the bonus from the elf I'm afraid... so I get to choose also between boreal and mountain...I'll think about it. Lore is a thing I like. I like to think my monk as well spoken and educated. So I think 8. I'd much like to take up mech and stealth but I think It'd be hard to reach high levels...but there are objects around that help right? Survival to 4 sounds right enough to me. Athletics 4 is ok. So you think it'd be better to focus only on lore or I can do it bringing up stealth and mech?
