Evolution, creation or something else?
Part of the problem is people viewing it as an argument. That's irrelevent to the point I was making. For the purposes of this forum, I used argument, because that's usually what happens here. If you want, just replace the word argument with discussion or debate or somehting similar. Whatever you want Tale. The point still stands. I think my point still stands. Jerk or no jerk, when people come into it determined to convince others their beliefs are wrong, that's usually when it gets out of hand. That point is true, but it isn't about people veiwing something as an argument. It's true regardless of what you're going to call it, and I agree that it's part of the problem. I just don't think you should single out arguments. People can have religous arguments, and religous debates, religous discussions, religous talks, all of it. Your point can be applied to all of it. I disagree on that point. I consider debates academic, discussions social, talks social as well. Arguments are specifically about trying to make someone else believe your point of view. Often emotional, aggressive, and not based in reason. They are anti-social, anti-productive. I cannot say the same of debates, discussions, or talks. It is when such transition into an argument that they become a problem. Wait, what point are we tossing around here? What I'm trying to say is that we both have a point, it might have just lost a little in translation. We could sit here and say stuff about what debate and argument and discussion mean to us, but in the end, we both have valid points.

Evolution, creation or something else?
There really is a little bit of me inside all of us. This is a perfect example of another problem. Not just people being jerks, but the reason behind it. You see Hades, Crusades aren't what religion is known for, crusades are what you know religion for. I think one of the biggest problems with religious debates, is that people have just not come into contact with the right people. If all Hades ever comes in contact with are crusading religious people, then of course that will be his opinion of it. Is it a correct opinion? Absolutely not, but really, can you blame him? I mean, I know it's Hades, and as I type this, I really feel he should have known better, but really, if you're only exposed to a certain kind of person, you begin to assume that that's how the majority of them are. The media will do this too. Show you a worst case example, and people take it as the norm. Let me give you an example from my point of view. I'm an athiest, bordering on agnostic. But right now, I'm just an athiest. I don't tell most people that though. Do you want to know why? Because out of all the athiests I have met or seen, only a handfull of them are people I would want to associate myself with. The rest of them have been jerks. ****. Do I assume all of them are like that? Well, no, but I'll tell you what does happen. I no longer like discussing religion, because I'm afraid if another athiest is present, he will start going off like a jerk athiest will always go off, bringing the discussion inevitably to how much smarter and more logical they are than everyone else, and I just don't want to be associated with that. Even if another athiest isn't present, I'm afraid more people equate athiest with jerk, and I don't want people to think I'm a jerk athiest. Is my view of athiest's tainted? Of course it is. When you are discussing something rooted in logical and rational thought, the last thing you'd want to come off as is an illogical irrational jerkface. Part of the problem is that the jerks on all sides of the religious argument, are usually the most vocal.

Evolution, creation or something else?
Yeah, I think it's fun to think about this stuff and try to put it into words. I guess if I didn't have these forums, I'd have to write my opinions in a journal or something. Dear Diary, Pixies is dreamy! I can understand that. It's just when you read some of the stuff people type in these discussions, it's just easy to become disillusioned, seeing people just being jerks. It's hard to get around, sure there is discussion going on, and all that, but there is just a lot of jerks. Outspoken jerks. Us-verse-them jerks. I grew up on these forums Obsidian. I think sometimes you guys forget. Kids like me and KotorKyle, we grew up here. Obsidian has shaped me as a person. You guys are like my family, sure, sometimes you'll embarass me, and I'll look away and roll my eyes, saying "Oh Obsidian!" But to see you fighting like this again, like you always have been... I guess I'm just trying to say, mom, dad, stop fighting already. It's been like this for a long time, and I've just been too afraid to say anything, but I need to say something, not for my sake, but for your sake. It's not just in this thread, although it's more aparent in religous threads. If you people can't be civil about it, it'll tear us apart. Can't we just get along?

Well, I don't know about your indy cred, but for me, you've just gained some over all music cred. Also, Michael Jackson - Beat It.

It was either your shallowness, or your pretentiousness. Or both!

This weeks hot topic: Immigrants
Hades is probably the biggest cartoon caricacture on these forums. I blame it on all these years of him playing video games and PnP.

I remember the first time I saw that video I was pretty young, and I couldn't tell if he was a guy or a girl. Jackson was pretty killer back then though.

I know! I just can't wait for Gossip Girl.

Lego Star Wars didn't have voicework, it had cutesy thought-bubbles. It did have wookie sounds, though. Lego games are fun, but they're as far from challenging as a game can get. So it's an indulgence purchase at best. I don't know if anyone would really buy them for a challenge. They did have little rope though, so maybe it's made out of rope.

Holy crap. http://www.lucasarts.com/games/legoindianajones/ I predict this will be the game that makes Roger Ebert eat his words.
