Seems a waste to me even if you do get the ambassador upgrade. Given you can get the Obsidian version (what the ambassador program upgrades too) on steam for $30USD (because of the 25% off) and it will give you everything on the mobile version. While if you spend 25USD on the mobile version you still need to spend ~19USD on the steam version to use that, thus spending 44USD instead.

Yikes. That's pretty rough. I admit that I don't have 2000+ samples to work with, but all signs point to the app using Unity Random.Range() to handle dice rolls. It's a pretty standard function unless you're concerned with cryptographic randomness or plan on starting an online casino. Back-end is an xorshift128 PRNG, which isn't perfect, but is fast and fairer than a lifetime of tabletop gameplay. Found a dev post I remembered reading forever ago. No reported bias in a million simulations. If there is something else causing the dice to go crooked, I haven't been able to find evidence of what it might be. [xkcd] Edit: Added in the link to the ancient dev post. I was noticing an inordinate amount of low rolls, hence the prompt to test them (even if it just quashed the bias that our brains can recall). The potential factor though are other things influencing the values out side of the generator itself, further data should tell me whether I hit an anomaly or not.

I can assure you that the random number generator does not play favorites or hold a grudge. Sometimes the dice and scenario modifiers just aren't in your favor. Without getting too far into the details, the game uses a pretty standard method to draw random numbers. On the "randomness" scale, it should have a distribution somewhat better than the cheap plastic RPG dice that would have been found in the tabletop version of Pathfinder Adventures. ... You would think so however testing has proven other wise for me. From 1000 rolls (for the first calculation) testing the half point (below or above the half way number on the dice) ~63.4% have resulted in below the half point within the app (from a mix of updates, scenarios and story/quest mode) on rolls for the player, while 1000 rolls of the same kinds of dice (d4 to d12, with the general spread of character stats) gave me ~52.7% below the half point.

25% chance of finding a dice skin per treasure chest redeemed is right on average. Breaking the stats down even further..., Legendary Dice have a <1% chance per treasure redeemed. Compared to Legendary Cards, Legendary Dice are at least a dozen times rarer. Good luck! Last time I checked though 25% is much lower than the 50% as mentioned by flounder. Though for me that is OK as I don't have many of the cards yet, for others that have most of the bonus cards it could be an issue though.

I have been finding it is around the 25% of chests open actually give dice. That said if it is meant to be 50% to have at least one slot give a dice colour, then its only about 15% chance for any or the 4 possible slots to give a dice skin (presuming equal chances for each slot) to equate to about the 50% mark.

Night Approaches is about the worst "wild card" there is as it essentially is saying "you will fail unless you get lucky, so your wasting your time" because most location decks will have more than half boons and some of them will be completely useless to the character you have there thus just making you throw away blessings (while the game is balanced already around needing to take extra turns or you will fail). That wild card alone cranks the "difficulty" way up beyond the level of every other wild card or scenario condition.

Bracers of Protection cant be recharged to mitigate any combat damage (the point of them). Lini cant use the weasel on a combat check if she is "transformed". Rolls occasionally end up with a -1 to every die to defeat an enemy for no apparent reason (even on non-combat checks like wisdom for the ghost), as there is no condition for this to be the case. Doesn't seem to be any set conditions causing this issue.

Huge amounts of gamers buy games they have already finished once or multiple times, why do you think digital game distributors (like steam and gog) go to great lengths to get older games available for players. It is because enough people will buy games they have played and enjoyed to make it quite profitable to do so (even outside of sales). A lack of players enjoying a game will kill it faster than just about anything else because they tell others (potential customers) not to bother, while they mention games they enjoy to others to try (whether a 'free' or paying player).
-
So whats the problem then with letting people play the difficulties they enjoy for less gold than what they have the option for now? Especially if it is as easy to gather gold as you make it out to be, as it would mean it has little to no impact at all. Everyone that does play the lower difficulties will actually get it slower not faster using this approach (while not being forced to play a difficulty they may not enjoy), as legendary difficulty brings in the most gold per game. Why dictate how people have to play the game to get a semblance of progression? Keep in mind they have mentioned it will be released on steam, many people don't want to buy the same game twice just to play on their preferred platform. It doesn't mean those players aren't interested in seeing the game be great, so many players will pick it up rather than ignore it completely when it finally does hit steam.

Closing glassworks halt
Loswaith posted a question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
For Android, for the scenario Trouble in standpoint (normal). On closing the glassworks with Kyra (Merisiel elsewhere) the game ceases to offer anyway to continue on after that if you successfully pass the wisdom check and permanently close the location (removing remaining cards). It simply stays on the green "star" (explore i think it is) for turn order. No other stages can be selected (like discard), though you can view other characters still. If you quit and/or restart the app (after complely terminating the process), you return to attempting the wisdom check as if you had never tried, only for a success again to not progress. Failure of the wisdom test to close does let you progress however. -
Actually those small amounts are counted for because all that is rounded down and conservative (though its unreliable that you will defeat all banes). Likewise you only get 100 gold for normal missions as well. Actually you only get 5 gold for closing a location, thus for starting players that is 15 gold at best. Also you don't get any gold for excess cards on a scenario completion. Likewise adding a third character increases your chances to fail and makes the game longer as well (thus taking even more time). Keep in mind those calculations are with 100% success rate (very unrealistic) and rounding down and presuming they never buy chests. So why exactly (given it takes that long already with legendary) would it be so bad to take even longer to get there playing missions players are actually going to enjoy playing?

I'd hate to see what you consider alot of grinding for gold, when it is about 25 games (on average of 150 gold per game) to just enough for one more scenario, plus about ~10 missions per character and many more for chests, and even then you miss out on the bonus cards. All in all that is about 230+ successful missions to just unlock the characters (with character pack) and missions. Then there is random chests on top of that. So if we presume about 20 minutes per game that is 75+ hours of playing just to unlock everything presuming not even a single failed mission (which is really unlikely) and before you have even bought a single chest. Realistically though with failures and longer play times due to learning, certain wildcard combos and general interruptions to connection/play time efficiency, we are easily looking 100+ hours just to unlock the characters and missions. Seems quite alot of grinding for a tablet/phone game let alone a good chunk for a PC game. Even if the lower difficulty story missions did give the same gold for replaying, as they do the first time, it would take even more time to unlock everything.

+1 from me too , I like randomising characters to vary playthroughs. Not sure that option would be of much use considering you could end up with party that can't complete adventure path. As easy as Rise of the Runelords is, there are some party set ups that would find completing the AP next to impossible. It might be of some use in Quest mode but in Story mode... not really. Well doesn't the factor that you just cant win an adventure path with any party setup (no matter what you do) show a real issue with the design of the adventures in the first place. More difficult is fair enough, impossible is an issue. It is quite possible for a free player to only ever have the starting two characters for the entire game, even if it is unlikely (sure not as big an issue for the tabletop as you get more characters to start with). Especially if they plan to buy the game as a bundle down the line (but want to keep playing) and know gold spent buying characters wont be refunded, or focus on buying the adventures.

Android on Nexus 10. When upgrading the Hand Size power feat (eg from say 5 to 6), it no longer will show the previous level of the feat as chosen (eg if upgraded from the starting value of 5 to 6 the 5 card hand icon will disappear, but the 6 will remain). This doesn't effect game-play as far as I have noticed, but also makes it harder to track where you have spent power feats.

A few general questions.

Well that would explain things. Thanks for the heads up. -
A few general questions.
Loswaith replied to Loswaith's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Thanks to all for the replies. Neither Kyra nor Lem have powers that always give them extra dice, only for fighting undead does Kyra get extra dice, while Lem can only get dice for others from recharging cards (as many other characters can). Sure they both get quite a few blessings, but other characters get just as many. All the characters have some very useful abilities, Kyra and Lem really aren't any different in this approach (accept maybe more directly support focused and less individual focused). Sadly even over on the Pazio forum I've not been able to track down an answer for this.
