  1. I played Kyra through the whole of tabletop RotRL in a duo team with Seoni and went more melee focused. It worked, but in the late game her d6 strength started to become a real issue. Seoni took the power that let her Blessings of Pharasma add 12s which helped a lot. So it's doable, but a wisdom/spell focused Kyra is probably easier. I wouldn't worry too much about Ezren's weapon. I sometimes wish he didn't have to have one in his deck at all, although it can be a lifesaver when up against something immune to attack spells. As a general note, you want to be cycling through your deck as fast as possible. Holding onto situational cards will usually hurt you more than help, especially early when your hand size is small. You want to get to the point where you can recharge as much as possible. With 5 attack spells Ezren should be all set. Don't be afraid to play Allies immediately for their extra explore to draw into your deck faster. Ezren gets to the point where his bonus is high enough to pretty much auto-recharge spells anyway. And keep an eye out for items he can recharge as well. You definitely don't need 2 arcane armor. It's good to have a spell or item on hand to help with damage in an emergency, but if you suddenly have 3 in your hand at once it's not doing you much good! Same goes for all characters. For example make heavy use of Merisiel's recharge power to churn through her deck. As for those barriers/dex checks. First, you'll want to give a thieves tools to Ezren and Kyra. They need them more than Merisiel, who can already handle many barriers on her own with her skills. Also, there is huge value examining location decks. Spells like Detect Magic and Augury are fantastic. They let you look at the next card(s) in a location deck without having to explore and encounter it. So if Kyra uses Detect Magic, sees the next card is a Poison Trap, she can go explore somewhere else and Merisiel can come deal with the trap.
  2. Yes, it's much easier to build that 'dream deck' as Hannibal put it, and also pretty much required to make it though Legendary difficulty. My ideal way of playing would be to go through the story beginning to end, with no treasure chest cards and no replaying of completed scenarios, to make it feel more like the tabletop game. Of course even then I would probably be tempted to spend resources to go after a good card more so than when playing the physical version. When we played the physical game we would only play a few times a month (and it took over a year to go through the whole story). So we really wanted to complete scenarios since it could be a week or two before we'd play again. It made the decision to go after specific cards at the risk of potentially failing the scenario that much harder!
  3. Not really, but if you have the Diplomacy skill, which is based off Charisma, then yes, it would add the 2 dice. Say Valeros is making a Diplomacy check. His Diplomacy is Charisma + 2. So his check is both a Diplomacy and Charisma check, therefore Iomedae would give 2 dice. Now Ezren tries a Diplomacy check. He does not have the Diplomacy skill, so he rolls a d4 and it's just a Diplomacy check. Iomedae only gives one die in this case since the check is not a Charisma check.
  4. Just to clarify this a bit, because it's definitely confusing, and even knowing what was going on it wasn't obvious how to fix it. Let's say you are facing a bane that has a check to defeat of 'Dexterity 9 or Wisdom 8'. You have a Dex of d8+3 and a Wisdom of d4, so the game chooses Dex for you by default and you will see a d8 with a +3. Now someone plays a blessing that adds a die, or two dice if it's a Wisdom check. Suddenly you see 3d4 and no bonus, where you were expecting to see another d8. This is because game automatically changed the check to Wisdom instead of Dexterity. Of course you want to roll the 2d8+3. So as firestormkirby said, you can change the skill used via a drop-down in the top middle of the screen (just above the check number). Just choose which skill you want, and the dice should change accordingly.
  5. Have to agree with the sentiment the game is still in beta. I was thrilled when this first released, and bought the bundle immediately. Sadly, at this point it definitely feels like I bought an 'early access' game, something I never do. Saying I feel misled probably isn't fair since I honestly don't think that was the intention 4 months ago, so I'll just say it's been disappointing. I was just excited to play a digital version of the game as it exists physically. Instead they've been consistently tinkering with gold mechanics, how chests work, quest mode issues, and numerous bugs. I'll keep waiting, but It's left me feeling disenchanted.
  6. I noticed the same thing as Archangelrey in that you apparently weren't getting the gold for salvaging cards. It is in fact working, it's just a problem of the gold total not updating correctly. I shutdown and killed the app then relaunched and saw the correct gold total. I tested again, had 8389 gold. Salvaged two cards for 12 gold each, but my total was still 8389. Killed the app and relaunched, gold was now 8413.
  7. I can confirm they replace a card. I opened 20 chests and got 2 dice skins, both of them were just basic white. In both cases the chest also had a purple card. Not sure if dice skins themselves have rarity though. Was hoping for some of the more interesting skin designs.
  8. Seeing the same thing as Gwendel. Apparently there's a gap between what version of the client we need and what is available on the Play store.
  9. I personally gave her a weapon card slot and weapon proficiency and equipped her with a Scythe +1 (4s become 5s on any d4 rolled). There are a lot of ways to get additional d4s on a combat check (like Harsk, Lem, Valeros, and my personal favorite Ezren with Incendiary Cloud) so along with her animal trick power you can be rolling a nice handful of dice. While it wouldn't be my first choice for running headfirst into villains (although I have!), it takes care of a lot of monsters and is good fun.
  10. Yeah, I can't help but feel like this isn't intended. Summoned henchmen shouldn't trigger the force damage, just like you can't close a location after beating a summoned henchman. Good job on beating it though! Took me a few tries, luck really needs to be on your side with this one. Funny enough, when I did finally win it was a pretty easy win. I scouted the villain pretty early with an Augury, closed a couple of locations without much trouble, got everyone setup to temp close the rest and went all Kickpuncher on the Villain.
  11. All good suggestions here, but for your specific situation I think I'd go with a Str/Melee character. This will help fill in the Strength gap in your party, and have someone who can use the cool melee weapons you'll find (Kyra, with her Melee bonus, is ok but not great here since she only has a d6 Str and needs to eventually take the weapons feat). Valeros is a combat god, but that's all he is. It's fun bashing heads, but when it comes time to close many locations (or god forbid he runs into a Siren) it's a sad day. Others have mentioned Seelah, and she is a good choice. She does have a melee bonus, but sadly her Str is only a d8. You also already have Divine and Charisma covered (though extra heals never hurt, especially with Seoni in your party). Still, her abilities are awesome so a worthy choice. Finally there is Amiri. She has the highest Str in the game, with a Melee bonus to boot. I find the rest of her skills a bit lacking though. However, her movement power is invaluable on Legendary difficulty. Since you'll be trying to farm gold you'll be wanting to tackle Legendary eventually so she is definitely worth considering. So I suggest either Amiri or Seelah (I actually replaced Valeros with Amiri in my 'main' party for Legendary runs and have been all the happier for it). However, if neither of those ladies appeals to you I will say Harsk is the character I miss most when playing with a party he is not in.
  12. Personally I'd save up for a new adventure pack. That will unlock six new scenarios and more opportunity for gold, better cards, and to improve your heroes. Once you have buffed up a bit some of the harder scenarios become easier to handle. Keep in mind each scenario has three difficulties: Normal, Heroic, and Legendary. While you can only earn gold the first time you beat a scenario on Normal and Heroic, you can replay Legendary over and over to earn gold. That mode can be tough, especially early on, so try to find a scenario that suits your team best. Not sure if Poison Pill is still the go-to mission for that, but with Merisiel in the party it's probably a good bet. Also give Quest mode a try. In that mode you play through randomly generated scenarios and can earn gold that way too. Keep in mind it's completely separate from Story mode, so progress you make in one doesn't transfer to the other (ie cards found, stats gained, etc).
  13. Funny enough, I just got my gaming table from Geek Chic delivered yesterday after a year long wait. Worth every penny. This looks like a great option for the price though.
  14. Some cool observations! Guess you rolled some some high perception checks yourself to pick up on all these tidbits!
