Some of the later horde type barriers will say stuff like this card is not defeated if all the summoned stuff isn't defeated but for everything early like the Skeleton Horde barrier and there's a villain in the first pack who summons something before you fight her - it doesn't specify that those things must be defeated to defeat the initial card, so evade away!

I've found in both the card and video game versions of Pathfinder, at least for me, one of the hardest things to remember to check is whether blessings in your hand match the blessing on top of the blessings deck. At least in the video game if you go to play one that matches, it forces you to put it back in the deck instead of letting you accidentally discard it, like I'm sure I did many times in the card game. But what about the idea of having blessings in hand glow green or something when they match the blessings deck, and possibly even more useful - if any character has a blessing that matches the blessings deck, either the blessings icon or their icon could glow of have a special symbol, etc? I would love a feature like this.

F2P Strategy?
Brainwave replied to cyberkal's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Thanks for understanding. Also, to repeat something I wrote previously, if you guys were to make something small like say the Promo deck only available via real money for a reasonable price, like a couple dollars, I'd gladly support your game by purchasing that. I was also already considering daily gold but since it appears that currently there's no way to get the P cards at all other than as part of the $25 pack, I just thought I'd mention that you guys might want to consider having it purchasable separately in some way. -
Worst luck stories...

That card is quite literally one of the worst foes in the entire adventure path, for the reason you gave. I feel your frustration. -
Card equipping screen
Brainwave replied to Brewsta's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Interesting idea but I'd be worried I'd miss re-equipping something important and lose a good card. Much rather just keep everything "equipped" and drag down the cards I don't want. But maybe this feature would appeal to others that have more confidence in their ability to not mess up than I do... -
The 10k gold pack is the character add on pack from the original game, it includes 4 characters plus a bunch of extra boons, and possibly some banes as well, not sure there. It does not include the other characters (those were all included in the original game with the base set but here it looks like you will have to buy those separately with gold if you aren't going to buy the $25 bundle). Deck C is this deck that I just descibed, it's the one listed for 10k in the shop. So yes, if you intend on buying this, which I would recommend, the deathbane light crossbow was probably one of my most used cards from the original set, that you are careful about which characters you buy separately because you wouldn't want to buy one of the 4 included in this pack if you're going to buy the pack eventually. (And if there's any confusion about what characters are included, look in the shop under the "character" tab, the add on deck is at the top, and it lists which characters are in it). Oh and class decks are a different thing that was introduced to the card game after Rise of the Runelords, they aren't in the video game yet, but perhaps they will be included later. Hope that helps!

Locations not to scale

It's supposed to be 2 more than the number of characters, that's how it was in the physical game. -
Undo Button
Brainwave replied to whoopdido's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
It's already pretty darn easy to farm gold, it's just a grind. I've run Poison Pill on Legendary about 20 times now with Merisiel and Kyra and undo really wasn't needed to help with success. It would just be nice to help fix occasional misclicks. Now if they make later/harder scenarios worth more gold, then that's another story but at least through AP1 as far as I can tell, all scenarios are worth the exact same amount. And the difference between this and chess, among other things, is that chess is a competitive game. You're not competing against anyone here so why does it really matter if someone wants to min/max their game? And I've already seen (see the thread about winning on Legendary with Lem) that even without undo, people want screenshots/videos to prove any "feats of strength" that are claimed by other players, so it's not like if someone claimed they won on Legendary while playing blindfolded that anyone's going to believe that without a video, with or without undo. -
Forfeit Question

Oh, interesting. I haven't actually used Forfeit yet. Then it sounds like it's treated exactly the same as running out the clock in the physical game. -
F2P Strategy?
Brainwave replied to cyberkal's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
This is indeed a good game and the developers made the decision to allow players to unlock content via in game currency. I for one don't particularly appreciate being told that I should spend money at some point when this method has been offered as an intended option because I as a player should be second guessing whether the developers are making enough money off their intended system to support themselves... Feel free to support them however you like and I will do the same. Personally to be honest I'd rather they'd just charged $5 for the app and another $5ish for the rest of the stuff and didn't even have the in game gold stuff at all. But apparently they preferred this type of more all or nothing pricing system, their choice, not mine. All of that said, I may well decide to spend actual money at some point, but I don't like being told to do so by a random player. -
More characters - running out of time becomes a more serious problem, less characters - not being able to make checks becomes more of the problem. Just looking at blessings - with 2 characters the max amount of blessings you can add to any particular roll is 2 but with 6 characters on the party that's 6 potential blessings that could be added to any roll, and that doesn't include bonuses from other cards or character powers. On the other hand you have 4 more locations to close with the same amount of time that 2 characters have, which means doing things like covering as many locations as possible to temp close all the extra locations if the villain is encountered becomes a more important strategy. Beyond that, I would recommend for a newer player to play a game or 2 with a smaller party to just figure out the game without having to manage too much stuff going on. For someone more experienced, I found more characters to be more fun, as there's a lot more going on, you can make better use of all the different boons you will find, theres more ability to help in various ways on any particular check, etc.

From someone who played the entire physical card game solo with just Merisiel, she's pretty darn amazing. Yes she has issues but those have more to do with needing to make rolls that she has poor stats for, like intelligence (what kind of rogue has intelligence as their lowest stat.... /sigh). But she's very good in combat - 2d6 added to any combat check plus a d12 in her main combat stat is quite good, once you get a few points in dex and some better weapons she's pretty much unstoppable, and her other stats for the most part, are good enough when she needs to do stuff other than fight or disable traps. If playing solo, just realize what her weaknesses are and plan accordingly. Maybe take a blessing that gives 2 dice to an int roll, or an item that gives you an automatic success at a diplomacy roll, that you wouldn't otherwise take if she was in a more balanced group.

Regarding skill and power choice, first off don't worry about making a bad choice. The great thing about this game is you can always start up a new party later and choose different skills and powers (in addition to different cards you will find in a different game) to give yourself a different experience. But in my opinion the best way to choose is to look at what skills and powers you are using. Skill wise are you using weapons with Kyra (strength) or spells more (wisdom)? Those are probably the most popular choices but you might find you want a bonus in something like intelligence or charisma if you've been having trouble making rolls using one of those stats. Merisiel uses dexterity a lot both for combat and for defeating barriers but same thing, you might prefer to take another stat if you've been easily making those rolls but having trouble with something else. Regarding powers, same thing. Have you been using Merisiel's power that lets her recharge or discard a card for a combat bonus a lot? If so, +1 to that makes sense. Or you could take weapon proficiency so you could make use of dexterity based weapons that need that, like Longbows for example. Or if you're doing fine in combat so none of that seems particularly needed, you could take increased hand size so you have more cards available all the time (although be careful about increasing anyone's hand size too much because with more cards in hand, it's easier to go through your deck faster and run out of cards). But overall just pick something that sounds useful and have fun. There's no real bad choices, worst case scenario you can try again later and pick something different.

Completely agree about evading. In addition to everything that you said, it allows Merisiel to explore in less optimal situations than Kyra for example. Just used up all of your cards except one good card you don't want to lose fighting a nasty monster, but got a free explore afterwards from a location special? If you're Kyra you might choose to forego that explore in case you run into something nasty, end up losing your remaining cards and possibly other effects on top of that. But Merisiel (mostly, of course there are some things you can't evade) can explore in a more risky situation and just evade if it's something nasty or anything boon you don't want to miss, etc.

F2P Strategy?
Brainwave replied to cyberkal's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Yes I agree about quest mode, although I'm not 100% sure how it will work, will probably be the better method for grinding gold. On the other hand I have half the gold I need for the add on pack already, so yay -
Undo Button
Brainwave replied to whoopdido's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
You'd have to be careful with this, the Sentinels of the Multiverse app gives the abilty to go back a fair amount but that game has no random dice rolling. With this game, that could allow people to redo combat rolls until they win with minimal dice, etc so maybe only allowing this for non dice situations? On the other hand this isn't really a competitive game so do we actually care if someone wanted to cheat and constantly re-roll? I definitely like the idea of some amount of "undo" abilty though, as everyone accidentally clicks the wrong thing from time to time and sometimes the current red X that undoes current selections isn't enough to fix a misclick. -
I would also be interested in being able to purchase the P deck separately assuming it's not obtainable via gold.

Forfeit Question
Brainwave replied to wakasm's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Well in the physical game you can just do nothing each turn until you run out of time, and you do keep boons acquired. While there might be a couple particular scenarios where due to scenario specific effects this might not work, for the most part it's a valid strategy. To be honest I don't see much of a difference between this and people farming the same scenario over and over for better cards. -
F2P Strategy?
Brainwave replied to cyberkal's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Interesting. I have a different take on this. The character add on deck is going to take roughly 50 Legendary adventures to farm out (assuming they all give 200 gold which seems to be the case). Well slightly less than that due to small amounts of gold acquired during adventures but something close to that. So at some point some serious adventure farming is going to have to happen just for that alone, and at least for me having more adventures to pick from doesn't really help with that. In fact I'd rather just do it on an easier adventure that I can complete more quickly and not be failing periodically. In addition, I'd rather do that farming for the character add on deck first, before I'm already tired of replaying stuff. Even for someone that enjoys the game and has played the card game several times, I doubt many people are going to come up with that much gold just from casually running adventures for fun that actually matter. So I'm just running Poison Pill on Legendary until I get that and maybe the same for everything else, not sure yet. -
After you've run through all the difficulties with one party, does that unlock Heroic and Legendary for future groups as well or do you have to unlock them with each group? I realize I could test this myself but figured I'd just ask since its on-topic. I don't mind the concept of having to unlock it once but as a challenge I'd like to be able to try to go straight through just on Legendary with a future group.

Treasure chest cards and cards added when you enter a new adventure (For example once you start Burnt Offerings that will add more cards to the card pool) are not cards that you get to immediately add to decks. They just become available as options when the location decks are randomly created at the beginning of the scenario for you to try to acquire and improve your characters' decks over the course of the game. If you could just have all the good stuff at the beginning, then encountering boons during an adventure would be pretty pointless. But as the previous person said, you can do some optimizing at the beginning, you can only choose basic cards though. For example, I like to add more Cure spells to Kyra's deck and swap out Merisiel's weapons for light crossbows, which I personally prefer over darts and daggers. Oh and Thieves Tools. Give me all the Thieves Tools!

Longbow +1 error
Brainwave posted a question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
This is more of a typo than a gameplay issue but in the last paragraph of text regarding using the Longbow +1 to assist combats in other locations it says "If not proficient with weapons..." And it should just say "if proficient with weapons..." since using it to help others is based on having weapon prof, not specifically on not having weapon prof, which wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. The card seems to play correctly. -
As a side note, I highly recommend using Merisiels evade ability in most summoned monster situations. Most, but not all, barriers and villains that summon monsters for you to fight (including Skeleton Horde) don't specify that the summoned monsters must be defeated to defeat the barrier or villain card. Unless it specifies that "this card is only defeated if all summoned monsters are defeated" or something similar, Evade is your friend!
