  1. Also, if your older models die on you, there's a chance that Sony might actually send you back a newer unit without PS2 backwards-compatibility/ All PS3's have PS1 BC, though.
  2. The day we accept bad CRPG combat just because it's a CRPG is the day we get more and more CRPGs with bad combat. Which is what's happening.
  3. Well, it's fighting a close race to be a distant second, rather than being first by a massive margin as in last gen. It's no PS2, but it can still have its games sell in the multi-millions.
  4. If anything, being able to install the 360 version of AP since the NXE should make loading and texture pop-ups less significant to a degree.
  5. No. L4D >> Portal >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> HL2
  6. Well, define gameplay. I mean, for the sort of story-telling style Bioware does (and for some reason never wants to fundamentally change), you don't need different gameplay. NWN stuff worked fairly fine, so there's no need for them to treat new waters there. Not that I say that is how it should always be, but the NWN-style gameplay is the least thing that bothers me about DA. Still, Bioware ought to come up with fundamentally (no, not revolutionary) different stuff. I mean, don't they have the urge to make something different for a change? Bioware can keep their RTwP combat system all they want. It worked pretty well in BG1/2. The problem is, regardless of what type of combat system they've been trying for since then (NWN, KOTOR, JE, ME), they've all been dumbed-down drivel.
  7. That, plus their unappealing gameplay since NWN, has bumped all upcoming Bioware titles to rental status for me at best. Good thing they're getting console releases!
  8. Mute protagonists are fine. Alyx is a stupid pile of crap that needs to die. I actually got to the point where she got in Ep2. I stopped playing there because the game failed me to hook me in by that point, and it was better stopping at a point where she was , since I suspect they were going to BS a way to . Freaking stupid Alyx. She'd actually be an okay character if I was able to shoot her in the face and kill her. Being forced on the player was what ruined it.
  9. Ep1 left such a horrible taste in my mouth that I'm not bothering with Ep2 naymore (which I played maybe 30min of - I actually have Orange Box). People rave about HL2 storytelling this, HL2 storytelling that. But it's pretty bad. Cutscenes where NPCs talk to each other or to you, but where you're just sitting there doing NOTHING (or I guess, you can walk around and bump things, but that's not really story interaction, unless it involves MIT plugging in devices LOLOLOL). Alyx being forced on you in Ep1 and feeding you monologue after monologue of stupid crap was the last straw. At least Portal is good.
  10. While in hindsight, HL2 wasn't that great a game, and I don't play singleplayer FPS anymore anyway, the gravgun was and still is awesome. In fact, it made the game for me.
  11. L4D is a horrible game if you have no friends to play with. The AI is terrible.
  12. Er..... maybe I should stop using AVG
  13. Well, it looks and plays like a FPS. I'm not sure how else I should describe it. I didn't like the controls so much, but I didn't try customizing them to my liking, either; they're fine, really. In terms of design, from what extremely limited experience I could have had from the demo, things look a bit too 'static'. There are explosions going on, but it seems everything and everyone is waiting on YOU and only YOU to proceed and do your thing in order for the world to keep moving. It doesn't a great great job of maintaining the illusion of a big war going on around you, but that's just judging from a 5-10min demo. I do quite like the implementation of the first-person cover system. As you crouch, you 'stick' yourself to surfaces, and you can move along them, pop above them, or peak sideways.
  14. Wait, are they calling it an expansion pack to justify charging PC gamers?
  15. Maybe that's exactly what Meshuggie meant.
  16. The real joke is that you played it.
  17. Nick and me will form the new 'Hades-Gabrielle FO3 boycott' coalition!
  18. And Bluray!111 Don't forget Bluray!11111!!!!1
  19. Well, I'd be embarassed to use cost as a reason to select my choice of console if I was buying 16 gig of RAM for PC gaming and using Fatal1ty soundcards.
  20. How dare you mock Wrath of Dagon's (correct) opinion? >
  21. Oh, come on, I can't be only one boycotting this? I thought us PC gamers had values. Are we going to sit back and let Bioware step on us like this? We need to show that PC gamers are not to be messed around with!
  22. Well, it's not as though any of Bioware's previous titles were any sort of epitome in game storytelling. Except for KOTOR1. Man, Carth was such an interesting, well-developed character.
