I find the raptor hard drivers overrated personally. It lets me load programs faster and do all that file transfer stuff quickly, but the place where I'm concerned about performance is gaming and I don't see much improvement, outside of the initial load. Having bucketloads of RAM probably helps.

Oh, it takes in a lot but think on this. If we had a more streamline system in which eliminates the IRS and the whole income tax system think of the billions of dollars saved. One system we could have would be a federal sales tax. Place an additional 3% to 5% sales tax on every non-food item purchased in this country and BOOM! What do you use the DMC for? It sounds like the bug testing advantages it has for NWN are already included in NWN2, if the developer's word means anything.

You made it sound like, the main reason why you couldn't move over, is that because you haven't been doing scripting and dialogue until now, and it would take a while to redo all the non-scripting and dialogue stuff. As for the rest of your post, I'm well aware of the extensiveness of dialogue and scripting. I just got the impression from this line:

For the record, you shouldn't use the term "chipsets" which are entirely different that CPU processors. Intel does make excellent chipsets (well, the used to), but AMD has been a fantastic alternative, especially for gaming since 2000 when the Athlon Processor came out. If you prefer to have a processor that, while still good, typically doesn't perform as well in gaming, continue to buy an Intel processor.

I just went for the gusto since I'm working and have near zero expenses. Plus, given school, I can declare some of it for taxes.

He could still use a Pentium II as a photocopier as well. If you don't want windows XP and just want an internet explorer, you can get away with stuff that is practically 10 years old. Same goes for word processing.

We'll see how well his computer plays games in a year, let alone 5 (or even 3).
