Bioware/Bethesda appreciation thread
While I don't think Mass Effect was a significant improvement over KOTOR, I'd probably give it a slight edge. I enjoyed both games an awful lot. And even though ME's combat was nothing to write home about, I did enjoy it more than KOTOR's. KOTOR's was cool for me simply because it was me roflstomping people as a Jedi, which will always be fun for me lol. KOTOR's story is a bit tainted for me, because I saw too many parallels with NWN, from Bastila = Aribeth to Star Maps = Waterdhavian creatures.

Hey, who's going to PAX?
Looks like the Sega booth isn't so large... Are you the only game they will be showing? Also, a friend of mine is going. I can tell him to stop by if you can promise him goodies

Star Wars the Old Republic
If SWTOR is a gigantic bust (especially considering how much interest there is in the game at the moment), I believe Lucasarts will move on past the time frame and try something else.

You have to look for the easy to miss little circle on the 360 haha.- Can we go around without holding guns.
Yeah. In other words: it was realistic. I think some people are used to FPS aiming where high energy particle scientists can pick up rocket launchers gauss guns and immediately know how to fire them 100% accuracy at small, fast moving headcrabs. The Deus Ex system is the best thing available when you want to introduce RPG stat elements into the game because it's still based on your skill. Bloodlines's system was atrocious (auto-aim, and your chance to hit randomly decided) - you could shoot point blank and still miss. ERrr, what Bloodlines game did you play? I had neither autoaim, nor was my chance to hit randomly decided as the crosshairs proved to work identically to Deus Ex's. Heck, the Colt Anaconda even reflected this and the crosshairs would get so tight the gun was precisely accurate. And yes, Deus Ex's weapon skills (and Bloodlines), reduced the maximum size of the crosshairs as you improved your skill, in addition to making them shrink at a faster rate, to a tighter minimum. It made perfect sense in both games IMO.- Dragon Age Origins
Or sometimes something subtle like using a persuade check to get past something instead of forced combat. This was common in NWN. I understand you like BG series, but it's not as immaculate as you make it out to be. The game has some serious flaws, especially the first one, although both are still excellent games.- Mass Effect 360: New DLC available
I agree that BioWare has dropped the ball with DLC (they did with NWN too IMO), but if Demiurge had any class whatsoever (and I'll assume that they do), they would insist that BioWare attach it's name to the DLC, since it's for a BioWare game.- Best Star Wars Game (other than KotOR)
Winnar!- Mass Effect 360: New DLC available
Of course BioWare's name is on it. BioWare's name is on The Witcher too.- Can we go around without holding guns.
I loved the aiming system in Deus Ex.- Batman: Arkham Asylum
I just made it to the section of the Asylum where he's running loose. Creepy! But I had to call it a night there. I do miss save anywhere, but alas. My H2H skills have become pretty badass. Bonus combo points and throw/takedown abilities....booyah! And inverted takedown- Bioware/Bethesda appreciation thread
I do have vague recollections of you sometimes aggressively agreeing though Volourn hehehe. I could be remembering stuff incorrectly though. Even I remember the name of that sword is the Lirlacor, and it's been years since I last played it "I'm a sword okay? Not an axe. I don't chop wood."- Bioware/Bethesda appreciation thread
It is just comedy, but it was hilarious. Fallout's low int still takes the cake.- Bioware/Bethesda appreciation thread
Like I said, it's been a long time since I played either game, but from what I remember NWN was better at allowing your character to progress through the game in a slightly different way. Particularly through skill checks in conversations. The thing I always found silly about BG1/2 is that my attributes and alignment had no significant bearing on how I played through the game, outside of combat. I had a Paladin with 3 intelligence that was just as capable of solving riddles as a Mage with 18, just as fluent in speech. It seemed like NPCs more frequently responded to my character's attributes and abilities in NWN than BG2. Plus, decisions would actually affect your alignment in some way shape and form. The only instance I can remember of this happening in BG2 was when you unleashed the beast at the endgame with Sarevok. Throne of Bhaal was a bit better, but then again, so was HotU with character epilogues very much reflecting how you treated characters and how you interacted with them.- Bioware/Bethesda appreciation thread
In terms of providing the player with a divergent set of choices for how to proceed through the game, I don't remember BG2 being as diverse as NWN was. Certainly not BG. Been such a long time since I played either BG game though. Or NWN for that matter.- Batman: Arkham Asylum
On a personal level I think I still prefer the PC controls (especially mouselook), but the controls are fine for the consoles IMO.- Star Wars the Old Republic
It better not be that way, and I'm betting if TOR is big, then there'll probably be no KotOR III for a long time. If TOR isn't successful, I'd bet a LOT of money that Lucasarts moves on from the entire timeline, guaranteeing that KOTOR 3 will not happen. If TOR is successful, things are a bit less certain. They might not make KOTOR III to prevent some sort of "competition" with their MMO. They might also make a KOTOR 3 to compliment SWTOR in some way.- Dragon Age Origins

Heh, I didn't mind NWN. Maybe because I played through it MP? I did enjoy HotU.- Hey, who's going to PAX?
