Well fact of the matter is that Prey 2 got cancelled, scrapped and handed to Arkane for new development. While IIRC the lead writer claimed reasons for cancelling it were purely political and completely stupid, but that's rather one-sided view and chances are it was just ... Well, crap. They did nice trailers. On the other hand, to my knowledge, Arkane is yet to produce a bad game. True enough, Prey 2 might be the first one in the trend, considering I'm pretty sure studio was mainly working on Dishonored 2 - then again, they might just continue it too.

You've played Prey 2017 and Prey 2 to make the comparison? That's some impressive time travel and dimensional shifting.

DOOM added multiplayer bots. When I can play it all by myself, I suppose it's time to test MP.

Well, possibly. I couldn't find a reliable source on this.

The Great Game Giveaway: Tuesday Edition
Fenixp replied to ShadySands's topic in Computer and Console
So I clicked the "Unredeemed keys" tab on Humble Bundle and went HOLY MOTHER OF GAMES, redeemed whatever I'm still interested in, and here's a list of the rest of ... Stuff. All of it is in the form of Steam keys. PM me a list of whatever you want, I'll do a random draw and redistribute them in one way or another tomorrow or when I feel like it. Order in which I get your lists don't matter so speed isn't of the essence for as long as you manage it before I do the draw. After I do the draw, I'll post whatever got left out. Edit: Giveaway ended.- 487 replies

So, the new bits of France in Euro Truck Simulator 2 are extremely pretty - and the game actually lets you drive about outskirts of Paris, sort of. They also added the roadside speed measuring thingy which tells you that you're an **** when you go over top speed. Very nice, especially coming as a free update to the game - when compared to the Eastern expansion and rest of Europe (which apparently also got reworked), you can see how far did SCS go since starting the whole thing. It also serves as a nice demo for the France DLC that'll come out tomorrow and that I'm sure to get now. Edit: Anyway, yeah, Euro Truck Simulator. It's a game that goes to show that when you approach subject with care, attention to detail and put actual effort into releasing a quality product, you can absolutely create a game that's about something incredibly mundane, yet extremely fun and compelling. After looking about a bit, I can see just how much effort had been put into creating an experience as relaxing and fun as possible - the compressed portrayal of slightly greater than life Europe with a constant stream of more or less mundane yet varied landmarks, the driver AI which does its best to exist and keep to rules of the road, yet stay out of your way, spawning and despawning vehicles in such a way to remain convincing without stopping progress for too long... This is just a well polished product that went through many iterations and testing. Well done, SCS. Well done.

It's more about investing too little time into games you wish to try and then proclaiming you dislike them is a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Of course you won't like them when you say you do just to prove yourself right, but with just so little time invested into a game, chances are you'll dislike it just because you've had a hangover or any number of other completely unrelated reasons. At the end of the day tho, if your definition of a good game is "If it doesn't grab me during first 10 minutes, it's worthless." then why not, after all there's an entire market built around such an approach.

For the release of newest DLC, all already existing parts of France in Euro Truck Simulator 2 (including Paris!) got reworked in a free update for existing owners of the game.

You and Kojima have something in common then

Hi! With the Underzee expansion I hope. I mean, surely, you had to meet the Constant Companion. You really kinda do have to read the text, gameplay is rather barebones without it and half of the game's atmosphere is the context. Then again, I can't imagine anyone around here minding reading in their games. I keep recommending it to these fools and not all of them have played it yet, which is concerning to say the least. There are even some who didn't like it, but that's just crazy talk and nobody should listen to them. Missing the best writing in a videogame since Planescape Torment is just generally a shame, and Sunless Sea really does play to the strengths of the medium for videogames while also rivaling some of the best novels I've ever read in its world building and often even moment to moment writing. It's an exceptional game.

I'm on my notebook, so Odallus: The Dark Call and Volgarr the Viking. Prison Architect sometimes too I suppose. Now I'm kinda sorry I didn't puchase Shovel Knight when I could, but oh well. Didn't get too far into Odallus, but I quite adore how Volgarr just catapults you into entirely new, super-challenging levels when you're doing really well.

Y'know, with Dishonored 2, I have actually finished the process of purchasing all the games that I have really wished for thus far. And now, Keyrock comes in here and ruins it. Thank you, Keyrock. -
When I was reading through some info on official ME: Andromeda website last time we've had this discussion, apparently: a) Andromeda is supposed to be a privately funded project. We do actually have historical precedents for rich weirdos going "You wanna do this illogical and risky thing for potential fame and fortune?" and sufficient other weirdos replying with "Yes." b) Said weirdo has apparently also detected extremely resource-rich systems in Andromeda galaxy, of a kind which are difficult enough to locate around Milky Way as it is (remember that Milky Way is not explored systematically - mass effect relays catapult you all over the place, and exploring Milky Way outside of bounds of relays is not really allowed because of Rachni incident - which might be another reason to shoot for another galaxy, not stirring trouble in our own after that happened.) c) Powerful species routinely wipe out all life in Milky Way, which is part of the main storyline of ME. It has been implied that this is the most important reason for sending out ships. And knowing ME universe, somewhere along the lines there'll be some sort of 'unexpected' twist about REAL motives for sending ships into Andromeda galaxy.

TBH, theme of exploring other planets does sound a fair bit more interesting to me than theme of exploring Fantasy World #1005, even if execution is not particularly better than it was in Inquisition. We'll se what we end up getting I suppose.

Wait you like playing half of the game with reduced field of view in wobble-o-vision?
-
Why would you hate on Morrowind!? Oh, right, not what you're taking about.
-
Yes. There's literally nobody else playing this. Developers were like "Tale bought it, our work is done."

When I'm not trucking, I'm doing a second playthrough of D2 as Emily. I must say that combat has improved drastically since the first game, both by providing a lot more challenge and by feeling a lot better. And, like it tends to be with Dishonored, I'm noticing many details and finding a whole bunch of new areas that I didn't even know existed on my first playthrough, and I do tend to be relatively careful not to miss anything. While the main structure of the story is rather primitive, the way it's filled with detail you can find if you look is most certainly not. Dishonored 2 is certainly my GOTY this year by a large margin. I'd say the only thing that prevents me from calling it better than that is simply how very similar it is to the original - I know, 'don't fix what's not broken', but for me the "wow" factor present in the first game is just not there anymore, sequel is firmly keeping to what the first game started and expands upon it instead of trying things of its own.

I don't really understand business much so can't comment on that in particularly informed capacity, but remember that big part of that the 4 million were KickStarter money - in other words, money other people gave them to invest into development of the game, into paying their employees etc etc, not to invest them into any other projects. I'm pretty sure there's even license agreement of some sort that developers agree to when creating KS campaigns which, among other things, prohibit them from using money for anything but what it was raised for. You just... You just cast detect evil. And you know. That's really one of my biggest issues with settings based on DnD.

Yes, of course you did. Now stop worrying about it and go play the game, and when you buy Tyranny at some point, you can decide for yourself.
