Okay, Inside was uh... Interesting. As opposed to Limbo it actually managed to remain reasonably interesting all the way through, altho I would cut a fair chunk of the 'flooded lab' bit. Animation quality, visuals, sound design - all of these things were stellar. An absolute joy when it came to environmental storytelling. But gameplay-wise... It was barely ok. I especially loved the bits where there was a clear solution to a problem like 5 feet to the side, but you could not use it as it's quasi-2D. And there's far too much trial and error required to my liking. There was also a whole 'Prometheus school of running away from things' kind of deal with barrels rolling towards our protagonist who can't sidestep into huge space right next to him because of ... Reasons. These things should be at least obscured in a sidescrolling game.

Source? It's always nice when they also remaster the DRM.

I swear, without MASH, I would not have even known there was a Korean war with US involvement

I like.

They won't allow me to shoot people with guns in real life, and joining army or police is no guarantee. And getting a license is just too much hassle y'know.

I'd just like to point out that the campaign in Battlefield 1 was exceptional when compared to other military shooter campaigns, but it had nothing on campaigns like Half-Life 2, Wolfenstein: The New Order or Doom 4. Well Titanfall 2's campaign does. It's a bit too linear at times, but it single-handedly introduced some of the best shootouts I've ever had in an FPS game. Its biggest drawback is the length - I've always held the opinion that games should end when there's nothing more they can do or tell, but as proven by me playing through it twice in a row, there was a lot more Titanfall 2 campaign could have done were it longer. It's actually fairly mechanically complex, especially considering inclusion of SP-exclusive mechanics and at the end of the game, I just didn't have the feeling of mastery I enjoy about playing skill-based FPS games. Well I do have that now, second time through. I'm leaping from wall to wall, kicking down attack drones while lobbing grenades and shooting at ground targets. It feels absolutely amazing. But the first time through just didn't give me enough time for reasonable mastery, and second time through it's too easy even on hardest difficulty considering what I have learned the first time around.

Yup. Nope.

There, now I have played Titanfall 2 for 9 hours due to playing it twice in a row. Because the campaign is just superbly designed. I do wish it was a bit longer, but it's fantastic.

There were sad emotions happening IRL when this started playing off my playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwBh_7zV4Wo Emil, ffs, why even outside the game!? Why? I ... did burst out in laughter so that works I suppose. Not sure it did for my ex-wife. Eh. "You need greatsword to slash the boar" that song has me in stitches every time.

"An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded." Wait, no, that doesn't work at all. Hmm... "Blessed is the mind too small for doubt." No, no, that's just... That's just insulting. "Suffer not a witch to live!" Almost, but not quite, something's just wrong there, but the tone is right... Oh, I know! "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!" ... Wait, what were we talking about?

Sunless Sea isn't in the same style as anything else out there, really. That's one of the things making it so good.

Because Metal Gear Rising is almost entirely based on its parry system, which both has much higher skill ceiling than Bayonetta's perfect dodging and co-exists with a dodging system of its own. Overall it feels like Metal Gear Rising had a lot more interesting mechanics that weren't necessarily based around button mashing. No. But being forced to remember an array of button combos to be able to appropriately react to arising situations is a very fighting game thing to do, one I never particularly enjoyed. Yes, I do know that majority of character action games have that to an extent. I did forget them for sure, but I can promise you I didn't like them - or they just weren't that common. All I can remember is the slicing minigame, which was cool. Oh it gets weirder from there.

Yes, Sonic, I just want more of that.

The next Call of Duty will be set in WWII . Uh... Okay. I genuinely did not expect that. Mostly because that seems like a splendidly stupid idea. But okay. Uu, it could be alt-reality WWII with lasers

You can't live without Nier: Automata, Sonic.

All right, I can't seem to enjoy Bayonetta at all. I usually love Platinum games and this is regarded as their best one, but TBH I vastly prefer Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. And that's because I'm... Kinda bored by Bayonetta. I may be wrong of course, but to me, combat in Bayonetta seems entirely reliant on combos and QTEs. QTEs I don't like because they're, well, QTEs and I've never been a massive fan of fighting games, so having to memorize a number of precise button combinations for distinct situations just doesn't gel particularly well with me. What I really loved about Metal Gear Rising was that the entire game had a relatively simple set of core moves and mechanics that left player with a ton of room for improvement, and combo system was then placed on top of all that. The system was simple, elegant, yet fairly hard to master. Then there's the character of Bayonetta that I find hugely unlikable (and for some reason rather unattractive), supporting cast which ... Doesn't seem particularly interesting either and generally writing which is massively over the top and self-conscious while not being particularly funny. Which wouldn't be that much of a problem if nearly 3 hours of the 10 hour playtime weren't un-interactive cutscenes (problem that Metal Gear Rising had too incidentally, but at least they were funny or interesting.) All in all I'm not saying it's a bad game, can't be really considering how many fans of character action games consider it peak of the genre - but it didn't really click with me. And I'm kinda sorry about dropping 15 bucks on it. So... I suppose I'll go finish Titanfall 2 again because that was a blast.

A whole lot of re-releases on other platforms is what'll happen most likely. Failing that, I do hope people will realize how important archiving virtual data is and so nothing'll be lost. Failing that, well... There's still shady places of the internet that'll have your back.

Come on Mord, we don't need to bring the discussion here to Ninja's levels. Just laugh his remarks off like the rest of us do and carry on, he does raise a valid point every now and again (like most people here do, actually, regardless of whether one agrees with them or not.) If you're so bothered by his behavior, you can ignore his posts via your account settings, or report them to a moderator if you feel they're that offensive for some reason.
