  1. It seems to be only counting some kills. It is progressing but I did have a battle where the combat log said he did death blow but ended the fight with 0/25 on the advancment. But it is intermittent and some fights advances eg 3/25
  2. Hi I have my MC monk using a soulbound item (increases as you use it) and I have had it advance in power a few times. Now it says I need to kill 5 blights or 25 enemies. I think I understand that but it seems I have killed enemies but still 0 for 25. I was actually in a cave with some spiders and my party was killing about 5 spiders while I fought 2 spiders to the side. I'm pretty sure I got the kills. Any reason I wouldn't get update 2/25 on the staff? I'll check the combat log.
  3. For the field fight I remember there was sort of a choose your own adventure (text) and I believe I got rid of some battlemages and another unit type (archer? cavalry?) but I couldn't get rid of their knights. Then my team (had reloaded and) crafted some fleet foot potions so they could move fast and disengage with less risk if needed. This is helpful for both casters to get to the right spot and for my damage dealers to run to their target. Eder and my Monk charged around eliminating big threats. Sagani shot arrows at big targets (mages etc), and at times engaged in melee when needed to block someone. Those three of course used their abilities like stun or knockdown or wounding arrow (or use items eg summoning items or scrolls such as entangle if at opportune time). I had the companion Paladin but she neither gave or received serious damage I think she engaged some knights. Durance just spammed AOE Buffs/Debuffs all the fight helping allies around and managed to avoid drawing attacks. Aloth used the Confusion spell mostly probably cast it 4 times. This was key to preventing their DPS while my own DPS shortly eliminated their threat and my DPS was not disabled by Confusion etc..
  4. I perhaps wrongly thought GROUND ATTACKS where either attacks that cause you to be 'prone' or else maybe Ground Attacks are any attack made on you when you are prone?
  5. dreamrider I wonder if you have analyzed the interaction of gear and food/drugs? It seems that bonuses do not stack so if a character has an item with a significant bonus then they should be careful not to waste the food for that attribute. Also this affects how to appraise the value of items. Your best in slot item may change if you like to eat lots of foods. Finally I wonder how items affect drug crashes. If I have a -1 to stat from a crash and then I equip an item with +2 what would happen? Would it not affect at all ie still -1 stat? Would it stack? ie -1 plus 2 = net value of +1? Would it over write? ie -1 is overwritten to net of +2?
  6. If that Stenes is a soul bound scepter it could be affected by any weapon group feat. For example if he has Peasant weapon focus it will affect soul bound scepter even though scepters not in Peasant focus. But you can't stack them up. Eg if Noble and Peasant feats are taken on soul bound weapon you will only benefit from one of them and not stacked.
  7. 1 and 2) I haven't hit this because my play style is to specify every single action of every single character, summon, animal companion. So I just have a different play style and haven't hit this. I'm not saying you 'should' play my play style but you might enjoy it? One thing that helps is I have 'autopauses' set after things like "companion uses spell or ability". Essentially I am constantly having auto pauses and checking if actions are wise. The drawback is the time and fuss to do all that but the advantage is you have access to use more efficient tactics and even just more variety tactics. I find the micro painstaking and meticulous but not annoying. Your experience could vary. 3) For mages, druids, and priests yes it's a different class balance than compared to fighters, monks, and paladins etc. The former do run out of spells if you use them all the time while the latter usually have per encounter ability like Fighter knockdown and Monk stun. It's just a different character type. If your difficulty setting you can rest whenever you want then you can find the sweet spot between using too many or too little wizard/druid/priest spells. Also you don't have to take a priest/wizard/druid so you could avoid it. Or just take 1 or 2. Chanters and Ciphers can use some spells but they earn the points to use them each battle. A second aspect is that you get more spells per rest as you level up on a wizard etc. When you are level 13 for example you will have 4 x 1st, 4x 2nd, 4x 3rd, 4x 4th, 4x 5th, 4x 6th, and 4x 7th level spells. That's a grand total of 28 spells/ rest and by that time you have developed 1 or 2 spell 'specialties' that you can cast each encounter! Example I think at 12th level you get to pick 1 first level spell that you can cast every encounter. I choose rapid speed for Aloth and he starts combat with that usually since it's a 'fast' casted spell. 5) for this I find it goes into my giant multi page loot bag and I sell all of the non-component thins like weapons and armor that aren't in any way special or needed by one of my companions. The components I save in case I want to enchant or craft something.
  8. It seems to me just as a novice player that constitution effect on health (not speaking of endurance atm) is important because if your 1 or 2 characters are your main and second tanks if their health (not endurance) gets quite low the only thing to fix it is resting or something like triage talent. So very few things fix health and constitution makes the health pool larger so it is somewhat convenient. Now perhaps it is better to have something else as stat to prevent health loss but as novice player learning strategy gradually even immediately there is some safety/convenience in having constitution on your tank(s) just so that you don't have to rest simply to replenish tanks health. This would be as a novice before figuring out all the strategy and meta and not to mention leveling up versus content.
  9. It's due to being a soul bound weapon. Any bonus feats work on it, but they do not stack. So taking all of the Weapon Foci would not be of benefit but one would. I actually didn't realize that but recently read about it. And I don't think weapon styles would work like dual wielding won't work on a quart staff's attack speed assuming I am right on that?
  10. I played a bit with 2 monks and though I have not an optimized min/max going on I can give my ideas though not specifics unless you really want. For my MC monk I have enough stealth skill to get the first hit off (and scout). And that draws the fire on this character so I make him more a tank with gear/talents/abilities. And then the other monk I gave him a lot of things to make him fast and hit with disabling hits or high damage. So very different characters: tank and 'problem solver'. The problem solver is called that because you can really get high levels of speed and run down dangerous opponents. A barbarian might be good with a lot of speed and could make a similar character plan/idea.
  11. Wow I didn't know a single handed weapon affected spell accuracy. So a single one handed caster is more accurate than one with a buckler/small shield.
  12. I like many things about he Barbarian class (using Maneha) but I don't like the concealment of Endurance while Frenzying. My thoughts are that you use Frenzy to rapidly take out some opponents that you hope won't be able to take out your Barbarian. So kind of different from a tank. Another thought was to maybe use some consumables or scrolls or even tanky talents/abilities as 'insurance' that even though you don't know the endurance during Frenzy you still feel confident that the Barbarian will stay upright.
  13. Pallegina is using Flames of Devotion. She has Vielo Vidoro and Intense flames which modify that feat but aren't the point of my question. The question I have is that when I use FoD with Pallegina it is buffing her allies instead of herself. The FoD should last about 7 seconds and give her +20% attack speed, burn, and accuracy. But during the battle I see icons saying it is buffing her allies (Eder and my monk Main Character) rather than herself. Do I misunderstand this ability or is something 'weird' going on?
  14. Do offensive casting spells use the accuracy of the weapon equipped? So if you have a feat that adds a bonus to wands then your spells are more accurate with a wand equipped than a bow? Or a different example if you have a weapon that is enchanted to be more accurate will that also make your spells more accurate or is it only when using the weapon in weapon attacks?
  15. I had same problem. There are other options I don't have enough attributes to select. All I can do is "I have to think about that more" and then I don't have a conversation option with Aefre to oppose her. I guess I could attack Aefre but my character doesn't really want to do that. I guess I wanted to talk to each side first before deciding who to side with but it ended up I can't advance the quest without more attributes talking to Maere or I can just attack Aefre but I didn't really want to take it to that point.
  16. Thank you for your recommendation and advice. Sounds like there is enough flexibility and freedom as I had hoped. I will watch out for the end of Act 2 for a place to tie up loose ends and make named saved games.
  17. Hi I just want some general suggestions rather than specific places or quests. I put this in the Spoiler Warning section just in case people put a spoiler someone else won't be sad. But I don't want spoilers of quests and places rather I want general principle. So my question is in light that there is a main quest and side quests and 'tasks'. I kind of want to do as much content as possible but it would be ok if I missed a few so 90% of content plus. But my question is if I go onward on the main quest will I lose the ability to go back and do side quests or tasks. (SPOILER WARNING) So I will use one specific example even though my question is not specific. I am just using this specific example as an example. My question is general rather than specific. Ok the specific example I just visited Cead Nua and picked up Kana. I finished lots of side quests and tasks like the Temple in Gilded Vale and I found the blacksmiths supplies. But I still have to go to a southern small town (forgot name) for the pregnant lady in Gilded Vale and I haven't settled the problem at the Mill in Gilded Vale. So if I get curious to go in the dungeon of Caed Nua I wonder if I should first go back and finish my tasks. My idea was to explore the first area of Caed Nua but not go down or up any stairs and then clear those back quests. So again this is an example to a general question rather than specific and I'm curious if I should generally clear out all tasks/sidequests before advancing on the main quest? In hack and slash ARPGs I am a sweep and clear every single area type of player but that's a different genre. For games similar to PoE I think I played BG2 a lot which did not 'punish' you for the order you explored. Icewind Dale 2 is one I also played and that was pretty linear game so this discussion did not apply. Thank you if you read this far. Remember I am asking generally and not for specific spoiler examples/details.
  18. Hi thank you for responding. I just tried the controls listing and didn't see a control. I am not even sure if there is a possibility of more info. I mean maybe just a war bow or 1st map potion has no stats. So I cannot confirm that right clicking does in fact give more information about the item. For example I had hoped that right clicking (ctrl + click for me) would tell me more numbers for how strong a potion was.
  19. Should I be seeing more inventory detail when ctrl + clicking on an item using my mac? Hi I am in the opening part of the game and have looked at my first inventory item. It gives me some stats but also says right click for more details. Usually on mac (track pad) cntrl + click is the same as a right click if I was using a 2 button supported mouse. I am uncertain if there just are actually no details or if there are and I would benefit from using a 2 button mouse. Just cntrl + click is not giving any new info.
