  1. Recruiting Hirvais is buggy right now; it's a known problem. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/88124-game-breaking-bug-cannot-change-party-303/ I got around it by disabling auto-leveling, having him join the team (though failing to join the party), and going back to the inn to force him in. Note that I had to try several times before the party management screen in the Copperlane tavern finally decided to cooperate.
  2. Bump, though it's only happened in the new game I started today, only with Calisca, and didn't reoccur when I started another game.
  3. I can see your point. It sounds to me like a minority of the player base didn't realize that this was always intended to be a tactical RPG. That MMO tank, dps, and healer was never the intent. Maybe the devs can impleent an A.I. 1.0 toggle, for the tactically impaired/disinterested?
  4. Roll up a sorcerer. Set game to auto-pause upon spell cast. Reach experience level 20 to learn the necessary spells. Equip the Robe of Vecna to reduce Magic Missile's casting time to 1/10th of a second. Cast Chain Contingency, Time Stop and Improved Alacrity to give yourself 12 uninterrupted seconds in combat, and eliminate the cooldown between castings. Cast Magic Missile, over and over, until 35 missiles are all airborne simultaneously and overlapping. Enjoy a cool, refreshing beverage for the remaining 11.3 seconds of Time Stop. 35d4+35 in 0.0 seconds. No saving throw allowed.
  5. As a counter to improved A.I, what about increasing the dimensions of sprites in relation to the enemy, and only the enemy, forcing them to spend more time going around? The severe danger to rear area dps builds is due to how damn fast melee combat occurs in this game, this would provide an effective hard counter. If you think that this would only exacerbate the power of tanks in doorways, I offer that the A.I. has to learn when to hold their ground and snipe someone who's alone and hanging back.
  6. Alt-Tabbing is both the problem and the solution. The game un-pauses itself when you return a second time.
  7. With just 4 members, most optimized parties will be stuck with 1 healer, 1 blaster, 1 tank, and only 1 optional. Can't push a flank, can't specialize you're party, can't reactively respond to changing circumstances. No real room for tactics, just a single-player MMO. 5 or more characters create both the possibility and the need for tactical decision making. No contest.
  8. The Grimoire thing was a good idea but badly implemented. I even took Quick Switch and I don't swap them during combat. Why: 1. Even with talent it takes too long. It should be instant or with a super small cooldown. 2. You cannot queue up new spells on cooldown to start casting as soon as they are ready which means you need to play "pause at right time minigame" which is not optimal or fun 3. Grimoire UI is terrible for switching them. You have to open new ones from inventory screen to check what is in them, there is no way to do that from grimoire screen, when selecting spells into grimoire there is no easy way to know which spells are in other grimoires you have in inventory or quickslots. And you cannot rename Grimoires so you can give them easy to remember names like "Defensive spells" or "Fire Spells". 4. Grimoires themselves give no bonuses to the character. How about they have their own enchantments like +1 second to duration of spell, -2 second to cooldown when switching to this Grimoire, +2 damage with fire spells, -1s to recovery time after casting a spell and so on. I would love if the whole Grimoire system is expanded and fixed so I can take Quick Switch and +2 quick item slots and put 3-4 extra Grimoires in there and have an easy way to manage and switch them and not gimp my wizard at same time. So we need the ability to rename our grimoires, and we need an auto-pause on grimoire switch completion. Sounds good to me.
  9. Depending on when you conducted this run, you may find that things have changed. A wizard's casting range being too low was fixed in a recent patch, spells can actually be cast from afar now.
  10. As someone who has yet to finish the game, I'm curious as to why there's any Save or Lose spells in Pillars at all. I thought that one of the core differences between Pillars and tabletop was their absence.
  11. So it appears that a combination of old drivers and enough heatsink dust to drown a small woodland creature is also enough to crash Pillars. Thank you for your time, and no laughing.
  12. Aaand the standard windows will close program crash is back. Although still less common than it was before.
  13. Here's the links to the files Windows told me might explain the BSOD problem, hoping they're worth something: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jqgyh64st7oz6m5/041215-19843-01.zip?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ltmwyr7nn1eemdc/WER-61869-0.sysdata.zip?dl=0 I suspect that I've ventures outside the realm of PoE tech support responsibilities, but any additional help would be welcome.
  14. Alas, disabling Realtek in Device Mangler was ineffective. At least confidence in my motherboard has been restored.
  15. Thank you! That actually did help, though my bug appears to be bug(s). I can now play the game for what's so far been over 2 hours prior to crashing. I've still been hit with one BSOD, and one crash to desktop followed by persistent graphic bugs. Not of the standard Windows close the program variety though. The game gave me an error file to give to you, something that I'm going to assume is a standard feature of Unity? Also, it has happened before, something that I may have forgotten to mention in my original post. Here's the dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/78pf64sy07uvxzc/2015-04-11_132322.zip?dl=0 Thank you for your help, and your patience.
  16. My game crashes predictably unpredictably. It crashes during battle, when paused, when on the map screen, and during character creation. Crashes usually occur after somewhere between 20-60 minutes of play. Crashes can take the form of a blue screen of death. They can also occur as one or all of a high pitched prolonged audio screech, the game screen itself teleporting around my monitor 1-3 times, graphic artifacts, and a standard windows "program has stopped working" followed by a quit to desktop. I am thereafter forced to restart, as graphic artifacts and control errors infect my web browser until I do so. The problem occurred both before and after I updated my drivers, both before and after I re-installed Pillars. I have not performed a clean install of Windows. 4 saved games from several different (brief) campaigns, from before the re-install: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9fpushull3ab7lz/044d3e9b-851a-41fe-95c1-6d040a8e1d6e%20autosave.zip?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/z1jr55l44lbndqt/259aee1d-e406-448b-b9f8-aa10f5e24c86%20quicksave.zip?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/rvcvxubi5p3983t/259aee1de406448bb9f8aa10f5e24c86%208684584%20BlackMeadow.zip?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/li9kqqc2fwbqcd0/1124825a-1057-4113-9acc-a022e051e686%20autosave.zip?dl=0 And 2 saves from after the re-install, from the same campaign: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r8fxnf0y6u7oenw/aaf9f3cd-1904-4257-9541-dd599e4d531d%20autosave.zip?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/a7v7h2ubfsolvy2/aaf9f3cd-1904-4257-9541-dd599e4d531d%20quicksave.zip?dl=0 Thank you for your time, I really want to play this game. output_log.txt DxDiag.txt
