  1. My 8700K @ 5Ghz and GTX 1080 Ti can handle the game loading all NPC's at once, but lately I noticed something extremely annoying and that is that NPC's disappear at short distance. I think it is supposed to be some kind of a performance optimization not to draw NPC's, unless they are supposed to be on the screen. It's obviously not working because NPC's who should be on the screen also disappear when camera moves away from them. It's really immersion-breaking. I can't play like that.
  2. Was the game out for 3 years now? Its not so much of a fix that we need, but an option to increase global/sun shadow resolution. Perhaps modding tools can help us do that?
  3. In interiors, I would agree, but outside they need higher resolution. Softness and resolution aren't the same thing though. I prefer soft shadows too, but not if they are blocky...
  4. I maxed out all the settings, but global light/sun shadows are blocker and of lower resolution compared to point light shadows. Is there a config file somewhere?
  5. The point-light shadows in caves have good resolution, but outside, sun shadows have low resolution. Is there some way to increase that resolution?
  6. Once again, FSE is not supported, which makes it impossible to use NVidia DSR without 3rd party tools or without having to force DSR on Desktop before starting the game... I am also sorry this game didn't sell well and ended a great game that flopped sales-wise... This thread was meant for Tech Support.
  7. I finally got it to work and all SaveGames to work after re-installing the whole thing. Now all is perfectly fine, fast, stable, etc. Sorry for being offensive... I didn't have a good day that day .
  8. Is it? I have to re-install the game 3 times already due to developer's poor choices and terrible programming. First time my normal saves were supposedly corrupt, even though they weren't, but I got them to work by loading earlier version of the game, re-saving, updating, loading, re-saving, updating, etc. My original GOG PoE installer version - Game installation was fully updated to 3.01. My GOG TWM Part 1 DLC installer version - DLC installation was fully updated to 3.01. My GOG TWM Part 2 DLC installer version - DLC installation was fully updated to 3.01. My GOG Pre-Order DLC installer version - This was the very latest version of the update. AND YET, the advice to uninsall this fully and properly updated installation and get NEW installers because of this bug - https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/83395-zahua-and-devil-of-caroc-bug/ . What exactly did I pay for? Having a super-mess with the game, patches, DLC's, DLC patches, and installers? I kept my cool for so long, but this game caused SOOO many problems, ALL of which dealt with installing and patches. Developers should be paying people money for them to deal with their crap. Not the other way around.
  9. I have the same problem, but the game, TWM Part 1, TWM Part 2 are all version 3.01 on my PC. The Pre-Order DLC is also fully updated! It really pisses me off - bugs upon bugs upon bugs. I had to re-install the game 3 times already because PoE developers are so damn inept.
  10. I uploaded my SaveGames here in a .ZIP package. Could someone please take a look at them, try to load them, and then re-save immediately? I have the game + all the latest updates + all the DLC's! I NEVER had a problem like this before! Launching the game as Administrator did not fix anything.
  11. My SaveGames were perfectly fine and working with the latest patch, before I installed The White March - Part II !!! Now when I try to load my SaveGames, I get a message that they are corrupted! I sure as hell am not starting the game over! I want to continue where I left off! Do I need to download to a previous game version through GOG?
  12. I was wrong about Wasteland 2, which was also built on Unity engine. Wasteland 2, just like Pillars of Eternity, does not utilize a DSR resolution unless the same resolution was applied to Desktop. So it is an engine limitation...
  13. Absolutely. I also tried PoE on several PC's with different videocards and Operating Systems - this bug persisted on all machines tested.
  14. I can very much use 4K to 1080p downscaling/downsampling in PoE when I set my Desktop to 4K DSR resolution. What I was saying is that it shouldn't be like that. No other games requires that. Doesn't Wasteland 2 use Unity? Both vanilla Wasteland 2 and Wasteland 2 Director's Cut allow you to use custom 4K DSR resolution with desktop resolution set to 1080p. Obviously, it had little to do with Unity engine and a lot to do with how it was utilized. Wasteland 2 also uses V-Sync just fine and so does PoE for me (never got a single tear thus far), even with variable framerate and no G-Sync.
  15. Ever since the original release of this game, DSR downscaling or custom resolution downscaling has been broken. I have a 1080p monitor, but I can use NVidia DSR (and/or AMD's equivalent feature) to create a 4K resolution and then downscale from 4K to 1080p. Using NVidia DSR (and/or AMD's equivalent feature) is identical to simply creating custom resolution, but NVidia DSR (and/or AMD's equivelant feature) simply makes it easier and more compatible with games. This effect of downscaling from custom / DSR 4K resolution to 1080p is pretty much the same as using 1080p with 4x SSAA, which greatly improves image quality and does a much better than in-game 4x-5x MSAA. The problem lies in the fact that all other games that allow the selection of custom DSR resolutions (like 4K in this example) in FullScreen mode actually apply that resolution to the game. Pillars of Eternity does NOT. PoE can only use DSR/custom resolution if that resolution is already applied to Desktop. Other games do not require that. Other games apply custom DSR resolutions (4K in this example) without requiring Desktop to be set at those resolutions. That means my Desktop can be set to native 1080p, but a game (otherside than PoE) uses custom DSR resolution (4K). Why can't it be the same way with PoE? Requiring Desktop to be set to the same custom DSR resolution is plain wrong and unnessary. It is very annoying too. What are the official channels through which I can report this major bug to the developers???
  16. Does this bug affect the game in any way other than having that entry on The White March map? Is there a way to remove it until the next patch comes out?
  17. Could someone please answer my question??? Are there TWO 2.02 patches - one for Vanilla PoE and the other one for White March????????????????
  18. Are there TWP 2.02 patches for the GOG version just like with 2.01 patch??? I have The White March expansion with version 2.01. Then I installed 2.02 patch for PoE and got pink screen problem... Is that because I did not have / install the second 2.02 patch The White March? Does this pink screen problem affect those without the proper White March patch if they are located in White March parts or anywhere in the world?
  19. Are you serious??? The game looks much better with 4K DSR. 4K DSR = 4x OGSSAA @ 1080p! It improves the quality of all textures, including pre-rendered background, but it has the most significant effect on objects, like NPC's! NPC clothing, armor, weapons look sharper and clean with 4K DSR. There is also no aliasing shimmering that you get even with 8x MSAA @ 1080p + FXAA or whichever combination. One way or another - the game's resolution function is flawed. If the game is set to FullScreen, then selecting resolutions should actually force the game into those resolutions, be they under native display resolution or above. As far as load times go - yeah, I know the save files are much smaller. What I was pointing at is that the game USED to load much faster, before The White March and 2.0 update. I know The White March added new content, but the load times increased by 3 or 4 times! Why?
  20. First of all, when a game runs in fullscreen mode and DSR custom resolutions are available for selection, selecting those custom DSR resolutions should actually make the game use them!!! This game does NOT work that way. It will only use 4K resolution Desktop is set to 4K resolution. Why is that??? It does so in FullScreen mode and Windowed Borderless mode. I complained about this maybe 3-4 times and developers just ignore it! When my desktop is set to 1080p and DSR custom 4K resolution is listed in NVidia CP, PoE Graphics Settings ALSO list 4K resolution. However, seleting that 4K resolution and pressing apply does NOT result in PoE using that 4K resolution! Why not? It isn't normal. I have a high mid-range PC with 3770K @ 4800Mhz, 16GB 2200Mhz RAM, GTX 980, 256GB SSD, and Windows 10. I CAN play this game @ 4K resolution and maintain 60fps. I end up forcing my desktop to use 4K DSR resolution to make PoE use that 4K DSR resolution. However, that is very annoying because my desktop is very hard to use with 4K DSR resolution since my display's native resolution is 1080p. I have the latest 2.01 patch for both - the original game and The White March. Saving the game is now much quicker than in version 2.0, but load times still take quite some time, even on SSD. In fact, load times on SSD are only about 1-2 seconds shorter than load times on my 2TB Western Digital HDD. This was NOT the case before 2.0 patch and The White March. The game used to load MUCH faster, maybe 3-4 times faster!
  21. I must have deleted that file on accident and now when I try to patch the game, I get an error that the file cannot be found. My game version and I would need the file of that exact version to apply update on top of it... Could someone please upload?
  22. Yeah same here! Did you guys check the game version in Main Menu? Mine still shows it as 2.0! Load and Save times did not improve AT ALL either! They seem even longer!
  23. Topic says it all. It updated fine, but game version still shows 2.0. The save and load times did not improve at all and now when I load the game, everything is pink... WTH?
