  1. What power have I gained though? Also, is Herittage Hall supposed to the place of "misery and madness" ???
  2. Ah, I decided to replay and consumer machine's energy, but erm.... what exact did I gain from that? Will that machine still be use-able in the future for whichever purposes?
  3. What kind of power do you actually gain from the device?
  4. One gives me major positive in Defiance Bay and another gives me Extraordinary Postive in Defiance Bay, but I wonder if this machine can be somehow used in the future. It appears it cannot be blown up once you select End. I also do not have Pallegina in my party. Is that bad? OK, something is weird. I was reading a walkthrough and it said that if I rescued people from Icantha' house, then I can absord machine's energy. I did rescue those folks and the girl, but that 3rd option is not coming up!
  5. Nevermind, I realized if I let him go, I get a MAJOR positive (instead of extraordinary positive) in Dryford village and no penalty in Defiance Bay, although it just doesn't sit right with me, that molesting f*** urinates me off!
  6. Cool, I did hear about Eder's quest and GM's role in it. It had something to do with killing ALL the Ciphers in the game to let Eder survive? I NEED Eder, he's the only true tank in my party, I can't let him die! I also completed the quest about Aelys, which is why I don't feel like keeping GM around. I guess we all have our ways of playing, I play as a wizard and I also have Aloth, without which I could not go on. When things get heated up and I am willing to lose some party members in combat (not completely though!), I do 3 sets of fireballs from both - my character and Aloth. It USUALLY takes care of things... Its also why I need Sagani - she's a semi-tank. Unless you play as a fighter, this game SERIOUSLY lacks true tank NPC's that can join your party. In most games, I have at least 2 tanks, 2 mages, and one healer, a perfect party!
  7. So far Grieving Mother was only useful in saving that girl in Dyrford Village, but given my gamestyle, her skills are not helping much. I'd rather use the dwarf archer with her wolf, but I do not want to miss out on important parts where having Grieving Mother in my party makes a big difference.
  8. So I saved the girl from those ritual crazies, using Grieving Mother's gift and told her to t o Chapel. Then I met with her daddy and had a choice of either letting him go, killing him or making him pay. Either way, if I do the thing thing and make him pay and leave, I get extraordinary rep in Dyrford village, but moderate negative in Defiance Bay. I am not sure what's more important. I know Eder's quest requires major positive in Defiance Bay if he is to know more about his brother and Sain't War from Records Keeper... Is there some 3rd/4th option? Can I have him impregnated by my new little piggy pet? That would serve him right!
  9. I dislike them. I prefer the other group, but Crucible Knights Keep is the only place where this awesome sword can be re-formed AFAIK. I only have one piece of the sword now and will hopefully find another one. What should I do? Stay clear and not piss them off?
  10. I was doing a mission where I had to go and retrieve ancient weapons. Then there was this face symbol that talked to me. I chose to 2 options that I preferred most - working best with allies and turning my sufferings into my strength..The place was crawling is spiders and with specters. I defeated them all, including that spider creature that wanted to leave with some stone. Then I went back to that room with symbols on the floor and made 2 party members stand on each of 2 symbols that glowed. Then the face symbol asked me if I want to sacrifice myself to some stone. I did and now have this stone and it seems like it does something with enchanting? I realized I could use that small pool of water on top of a pedestal vase or some kind. The only thing I can enchant is a worthless green spear that costs 5 coins with some recipe... I did not do it. Should I? What did I sacrifice exactly and what are the benefits? I thought I could enchant items back in my stronghold if I build that house that will have enchanters. So whats the point of that small pool pedestal? I am SO confused... Name of worthless spear is Cladhaliath and the name of recipe is Engwithan Soul Spear...
  11. What is WILL for? Its the most omitted attribute from all the replies. I have this Will +16 ring and I don't know who to give it to. You say Intellect is good for barbarians and rogues??? I thought wizards do most AoE spells and that's what I increased for my wizard and Aloth. Another question, how do you increase focus? Just weapons and spells or something else? Is focus same as accuracy? Is it me or do these attributes seem generally messed up? BG2, IWD had simple, to the point, and this game has complex attribute system, where Constituion, known to be quite important for warriors, is actually almost meaningless...
  12. Unlike older AD&D games, such as BG1/2, the information regarding classes and attributes in the game does not list which attribute is important for which class, except for that one time when you create your character and important attributes have gold or silver stars next to them. I remember in BG2 and IWD, it would say which attributes are best for mages, thieves, etc., but it is not like that in this game. I really wish they'd stick to BG-style skills... Could someone list the most important attributes for each class, please? First 2 attributes = most important (gold stars), and 3rd attribute = less important (silver star). That what it was like for a Wizard - 2 gold stars - one for Might, another for Intellect, and 1 silver star for Dexterity. Is it like that for each class? Regardless, I would like to know the most important attributes for each class. Here are some thoughts: Priest (Durance) deals with mind-spells, so I assume Will-buffing items are important, correct? Thieves/Rogue's obviously need Dexterity Fighters obviously need Might, Constitution, and Dexterity It would ALSO be of great help if someone could list the most important/most beneficial skills, such as Athletics, Lore, Mechanics, Survival, etc for each class???
  13. How do you put money INTO the treasury box? I found the box, but cannot figure out how to put money there...
  14. Oh, so if you haven't gotten the edition for backers of the game, then those NPC's do not exist or simply cannot be talked to or just carry generic name, like Noble? Off-topic, but how do I add money to treasury? I found the Treasury box and it can store items, but I cannot figure out how to put money there!
  15. I find that 90% of the time, looking into someone's soul does not touch the story or a quest of any kind. Once in a while, you reach into someone's soul and you can do things or something interesting happens. What's the point of digging into other NPC's souls? I read a few, but then I realized it doesn't matter and stopped reading... Those NPC's actually have names, so they are not generic, but neither do they matter...
  16. Technically, this game is OpenGL, but when used with ReShade and OpenGL 32.dll, ReShade reports that the game is rendered in DirectX 9. OpenGL is a different API, but maybe in this case it is some kind of a wrapper? I also noticed the game can be forced into DirectX 9 and DirectX 11. DirectX 11 messes up location maps and world map too AFAIK. DirectX 9 does not. Are there any advantages of using forced DirectX 9 over OpenGL or vice versa?
  17. Thank you sooooo much, people! I'm level 6 already and I'll playing battle over and over until I get it right!
  18. I GOT AN IDEA! Here's my SaveGame (Zipped) on Normal (latest patch 1.04) - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/93831976/Wyrmund.zip Can someone defeat Wyrmund with my party? That is without venturing anywhere, just from that location. Just out of curiosity. I want to defeat him on my own, so I don't need a SaveGame after he was beaten. I am just curious if some veteran players can do it with my party. ALSO, any advice on spells, party, equipment (armor, weapons), my castle/fortress would be appreciated!!
  19. True. Killing enemies that are supposedly too hard for my level makes me feel like a superior player! Anyway, its settled - I shall venture to Defiance Bay!
  20. As someone stated, starting position is not a problem. I place Eder and Kana up front. Its easy if you re-arrange the icons. I also tried to run like hell from the battle, but erm... The first spell someone in that group casts drops my fighter and others on the ground long enough to finish them off... I am not sure I have that teleportation spell. I have not even examined all the spells I have. I just took them out of different books and made sure both wizards know each other's spells. The biggest issue is that first spell cast upon my group is that giant hammer of light or whatever. It either kills several party members or damages them real bad or drops them to the floor. No escape possible that way... Funny, I finished ALL the quests in that village, except for this battle. The area and other quests were quite easy for level 5 party, which is why I thought the game was unbalanced. If all the quests and enemies were easy, but the final boss un-beatable, then there is something wrong. They should have made other enemies a lot harder for me to think "OK, this area is too hard for my level - I'll come back later". I will level up to 6 somewhere else and try again I guess... I am not that good with spells. They all vary so much and most of them seem useless. I mostly use Durance's healing effects and wizard's attack spells. Grieving Mother's spells don't do squat to Wyrmund. I only have her because she can save the girl... I skipped Defiance Bay or whatever the name of that big (the biggest?) city. It seemed so big it made me uncomfortable. I thought it would be best to clear up the rest of the smaller areas before going for the city. Cities usually have tougher people, at least in real life :D.
  21. I have Grieving Mother in my party and she can do her thing on the girl, but then the fighting starts and I get obliterated, even if I try "cheat" by setting the game on Easy. I have my wizard, Aloth, Durance, Grieving Mother, Eder, and Kana - all level 5, 4/5th through level 6. I tried my best to get Wyrmund, but he just not easy. I already killed Raedric, but that was easy due to the trick, where you can hind behind the throne. There is no such trick with this guy... Should I just come back to get him later? I kind of hate how unbalanced this game is. You can eliminate all enemies within a dungeon with moderate difficulty, yet the boss will be 3x harder. Bosses should be harder, but they should be close to the strength of their subordinates... Also, another question - what level should I be to complete all 13 levels of the dungeon beneath my keep? I take there is no way to re-supply camp supplies once you fall into the hole until you go through all 13 levels??? EDIT: I GOT AN IDEA! Here's my SaveGame (Zipped) on Normal (latest patch 1.04) - https://dl.dropboxus...976/Wyrmund.zip Can someone defeat Wyrmund with my party? That is without venturing anywhere, just from that location. Just out of curiosity. I want to defeat him on my own, so I don't need a SaveGame after he was beaten. I am just curious if some veteran players can do it with my party. ALSO, any advice on spells, party, equipment (armor, weapons), my castle/fortress would be appreciated!!
  22. Thank you for such a prompt reply. If this game had properly working resolution settings, then it would not require you to set your desktop to DSR resolutions first and only then run the game. In Fullscreen mode, the game is supposed to use those DSR resolutions from within the in-game resolution settings. Only Window or Borderless Window modes require setting desktop to DSR resolution first to use that resolution in-game. This is why I said that the game does not have properly working resolution settings and is not DSR-friendly. The game looks immensely better with 4x SSAA (DSR 4K downscaled to 1080p) than with MSAA (even at 8x) as long as you set Smoothness to 0% and disable MSAA, which won't add to the effect of SSAA @ 4K in this game, but 4K + MSAA will only drain FPS. Only SGSSAA blurs the image, but DSR does not use SGSSAA, but true SSAA. I am not sure if you tried running 4K to 1080p downscaled without MSAA and with Smoothness set to 0% because it looks much better with DSR than with MSAA and its quite obvious. There is no need to enable Transparency MSAA!!! True SSAA improves sharpness of textures, not make them blurry. Just make sure to use that Zoom command to see your party closer, otherwise they are too small. You can also add SMAA to DSR resolution if you still experience any aliasing, but it barely makes a difference with such high downscaled resolution. SMAA is helpful if you downscale from 1440p to 1080p or from 1620p to 1080p, but not from 4K to 1080p. Then of course you can add some LumaSharpen since SMAA blurs the image slightly.
  23. Didn't Obsidian say they are working on making this game use DX11 by default?
