How is that possible on NWN2? Unless you've somehow built amazingly inept characters by coincidence...

C&VG: Sega rules out Alpha Protocol sequel
Tigranes replied to funcroc's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Definitely, there is a large spread. But I think Destructoid was 2/10 or so? I just don't like the idea where a review which, for whatever reason, does not have any legitimacy or value, is, through word of mouth, lumped together with reviews that do, and then given a significance it doesn't deserve. -
I could, but then I'd need to be consistent and rename your account to "indiscriminatepartypooper_1". Actually, you and Purkake might need to fight it out over who's number 1. (I love you both )

The original BG1 is unique - it's better balanced than any modded copy, as Tutu can introduce various weirdities and summoning is broken-ish. I'm just too used to the high resolution now, though, and various modded things like faster bears and BG2-style contingency-loaded mages. That said, good old wand of fireball + oil of fiery burning hasn't failed me so far... now on to TOTSC content before returning to Baldur's Gate for the final showdown. I'd play some Icewind Dale ironman, but need to find my CDs... maybe I'll make an ironman thread when/if I do.

C&VG: Sega rules out Alpha Protocol sequel
Tigranes replied to funcroc's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I think we need to stop considering the Destructoid review as part of any sort of discussion... it was a joke review from a guy who does a lot of joke reviews. It really doesn't speak for anything, unless people start taking it seriously. -
Last chance for the thread. I don't care whether you're right and I can't fix your personality if you're disposed to be arrogant/offensive/whatever, but I'm obliged to deal with any and all trolling and personal attacks, so don't do it guys.

BG1, just about to go investigate the Iron Throne, with Tutu and a host of mods. The Grey Clan is probably one of the most 'extensive' quest/combat based BG1 mod out there - I can ignore the horrendously bad voice acting (actually unlistenable), but couple of the battles are pretty whacky. Just had a boss who summons 3 waves of magic resistant battle horrors, and then two mages who contingency with invisibility, minor globe of invulnerability, mirror image and a couple others, then can cast up to level 7 spells (Power Word stun, Flesh to Stone) if given the chance. :/ Of course, the king of vanilla BG1 challenges is Aec'Letec...

NSFW: The end of Mel Gibson's career (thank non-extant gods)
Tigranes replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
I don't see what's the problem with sharing your personal view about the actors you've met? O_o -
Hey, that's true - what happened to taks? Anyone know?

Actually, for me, it's just a very practical thing. In the end I'm not against Steam because of my 'principles' about DRM, etc. It's just when I run a game through Steam, it's slow, it's annoying, it keeps pushing unnecessary crap in my face, and it gets in the way of my gaming. And when Steam keeps trying to broker deals with games to make them Steam-only, it pisses me off. So obviously, Steam acts as a major deterrent. I'll only buy a Steam game if, despite the annoyances of Steam, the game is still worth it on quality or value. It's not really a 'boycott', it's a natural dislike of Steam emerging from bad experiences with it.

briosafreak? How did I miss that? O_o But yeah, lifetime sales really don't mean much anymore - even though FO and BG have pretty much camped physical retail shelves for the last 10 years. Still, I can't see the sales requirement for the FOs having been that high - FO2 was made in a year, for instance, and if they hit +200k in the first couple of months it would have been okay, surely.

Once again, please understand that no matter how convinced YOU are that someone is stupid, that doesn't justify you actually calling them stupid on a public arena.

pc controls and computer hack help
Tigranes replied to edicus's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Depends what you mean when you say move your character, it may be a jerky / unresponsive mouse problem? If so that's quite common, search the PC Support forums and look at the Known Issues thread. If not, tell us in more detail... Search these forums for a huge amount of discussion on the computer hack. There are tips on how to make it easier (you can also use EMPs with one level in Sabotage, later on). Someone also posted a way to make computer hacks easier (i.e. more time), I think, in one of those threads. -
Nobody's "blaming" anime. Just take a look at some of the concept art, it's very much going for one of the dominant anime art styles. Overreaction much? Anyway, what I really want is better tactical combat.
-
I don't think we have a fair look of where the art direction is going yet. I mean, there's reasonable evidence to suggest they're going for idiotic anime characters with big spiky bits, but who knows about the environments?

Squished mouse won't work with menus in EYEFINITY
Tigranes replied to jalong's question in PC Support
You mean, other than a confirmed patch? I don't have an ounce of knowledge regarding anything eyefinity, I'm afraid (is it even supported?). -
That's what I meant, yeah. I know what you're saying, I just don't quite get the other argument.

Funnily enough, Amentep's one post was enough - I understand the Monty Hall thing, now it's very obvious to me that he should switch his choice (the 2/3 doesn't disappear when Monty Hall closes the door, etc). But I still don't quite get the initial stuff about the lottery. To me, there still hasn't been an explanation I can grasp about why there is no difference in probability between a person winning a lottery 4 times, and the same person winning it 4 times? I mean, this is not surprising, as I'm, again, rubbish at maths... Also, I swear we had this exact same maths discussion ~2 years ago here.

I think suffice to say, for me, and maybe for Di/others, compulsory Steam is a major negative factor in considering whether to buy the game or not, in terms of both theory & practice. F:NV would have been a 100% pre-order buy for me, now I'm still mulling it over. I'll probably get it in the end, but if I wasn't so enthusiastic about it, Steam would have killed the sale. edit: btw, this kind of stuff I think grounds the fears about Steam. That survey alone isn't a big problem as it's voluntary/optional: but it's not the only thing, and moves like these make you wonder where Steam are looking and where they will end up going. Similar to how some people feel about Facebook.

And that was the Cool Kids on the Block, carrying out their holy mission to aloofly mock everything. There's a point to be had, though. Stuff like snowglobes often end up not really being noticeable when you play the game... unless it's a buildup of several trivial oddities that create a general impression.
-
It *is* a weird thing to go for, though. Should be fun to see what's the rationale behind it.
-
Please only post massive images if they have a shred of funny in them, kthxbai I don't know how it turned out in the end or if it's even out, but I really think the Darkspawn Chronicles is a great idea and is the ONLY DAO DLC so far that really shows the true capabilities of DLCs done right. Add exciting content that enriches the game and does things only a DLC can do, not horse armour.
-
Yes it is true, no sequel for now. Try some of the threads discussing whether the game is worth buyinghere, here, here... use the Search function and look around, tons of impressions. If you want the short version: if you like good plot delivery, good characterisation, choices & consequences, get it no matter what. If you like other Obsidian games you should probably get this one. If you want a shooter instead of an RPG, don't get it. If you need state of the art graphics and perfect polish, you should think twice.

From memory, deleting the registry's Diablo 2 keys fixes.

Again, I'm an idiot with maths, but just going by alanschu's simple examples: Wouldn't 0.0625 be the only figure that is relevant here? That is, if the question is, "What are the chances of a person winning the lottery 4 times"? I mean, obviously, the probability will have increased every time she bought a lottery ticket, it's not 4 tickets she bought in a row that one, but still, since we're talking about the same person.
