You can beat BG1 pretty quickly if you just go to the mines, straight to the city, the Iron Throne HQ etc. You can also spend a long time exploring all the areas and side quests. If NWN2s main quest is 20 hrs, and there is a great deal of extras, it can still be good... I hope.

Went to the beach with a few friends last summer. We jumped into the water from the pier, and went for a little swim. After a few minutes we got back up on the pier again to rest and get some sun. One of us, a WoW-slave who never bothered to do any physical exercises all his life, suddenly realized that he no longer had the strength to do the most basic things, like getting back up on the pier, which was between 2 and 3 feet above water level. We had a few good laughs, but if we hadn't been there to haul him up, he would've been in trouble. Oh btw, he never did drugs, nor does he like coffee. He started to work out after that. I think he's up to 80 lbs in the bench now. J.

bah.. thought it was june. snore.

Well, maybe I exaggerated a little. Folkepartiet are a bit extreme though. We have Fremskrittspartiet. They have 35% now. Scary, but understandable I guess.. Btw, what happened to that Folkpartiet stripper ? .. I had to google her right away.

Land of the vikings? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not all that many farmers. More fishermen.. along the coast. Norwegians are spoiled, rich, lazy, apathetic and emotionally cold. Practically half the population lives on welfare instead of actually working. We're so politicallly correct (socialist government) that we're about to be totally a**fscked by immigrants, who just give a little snicker when they find out how easy it is to get welfare money instead of working. I think Mullah Krekar (a muslim leader) is going to release a book on why children should blow themselves up.. I think he'll get some sort of support to work on his book. It's probably my tax-money. The nazis had these insulting educational movies that they showed their soldiers during WW2, where Norwegians were portrayed as introvert farmers with their heads in the sand. They were right. Well, that's about it. And no, no Vikings. I wish tho.. J.

Well, seeing as how everyone's "different" these days, it's actually radical to be a bit Borg..

Make a training tutorial that is optional, so you dont have to go through that c**p at the beginning of the game. Like Myth1. That game had a funny and entertaining tutorial.

Agree, sounds a bit rough. You're level 1, and you got an army of plane-travelling Gith-ninjas on your tail? Sounds very 6_man_Palladium_PnP_PG_lvl_90_char'ish.. Oh well,.. I'm sure it'll be great anyway. J.

Well they released a lot of pics already. Now just give us one where all the toolbars and drop-down menues etc are included, so we can see what it looks like? Personally I like the BG-style, clickable icons at the bottom of the screen. J.

Mouthwatering screens... AND, it looks like we're *finally* getting rid of the cartoonish-avatars-trend in crpgs. These chars actually look like humanoids! Now if the animations are equally good, I might end up having tripple joygasms playing this game. Hang in there, and don't forget flying, climbing and horses.. *ducks to avoid eggs and tomatoes* J.

Danes and skiing. Most skiing-facilities have these small slopes,.. for kids.. and danes. (j/k) Good thing you didn't break anything. Come back to Norway and do some skydiving with me instead. Much safer. J.

Speaking of saves, does anyone know where I can get hold of different save-games for Icewindale 1? Saves for chapter 1, 2, 3 etc. J.

I thought the IWD2 site was quite impressive when it came. Can't remember why though.

What's taking so long? It's not like the site was *that* big after all, some nice graphics, a few interviews, and the same old screenshots. An okish site, but nothing that would take days to fix.. J.

My favourite candybar.. Seriously, TOEE was weak stuff. Dialogues were patently absurd, and embarrassing even for non-english-speaking players like myself. Intro screens and avatars also had a Commodore 64 quality to it. This game cost 72$ (yes, US dollars) when it hit the shelves in Norway. I watched someone play a downloaded version, and decided not to waste my time with it. J.

Mythic structure in RPGs/video games in general
Junai replied to J.E. Sawyer's topic in Computer and Console
One way to introduce or test a new trend/vogue, and at the same time play it safe, is to make sure that the game caters to different groups. The game could work on several levels. The player could turn it into a a) hack'n slash gush-fest if that's what he wants, a b) black and white good'n evil story, or c) delve deeper into the character and play it the way the devs had hoped for. A lot of books and movies are like that, entertaining for all audiences. If reviews and discussions prove that people like the new odd twist, whatever it is, then you know there is a market for it. Nym for president.

Like you, I don't think he was interested in religion, just power. According to legends he spent hours staring at what is supposedly the "spear of destiny" (in Wienna?), and he tried to acquire it at the beginning of the war. Another legend has it that a Tibetan monk known as the "man with the green gloves" brough about a spiritual awakening in Hitler, which resulted in crystallized ego, and tremendous leadership "vibes".. I think he had an affinity for the occult, like all demons have. Anyway, OT, damn those countrymen of mine who drew pictures of Muhammed. I'm gonna be pissed if the subway explodes b/c of a cartoon.

Which is why I thought he was a bit snotty. Doesn't matter. I like him. I haven't read the books, so I'm not *tired* of him.

I haven't read Salvatore's books, so I thought Drizzt's party joining my forces in BG2 was a funny and exciting twist. I can understand that people grow tired of his supreme swordsmanship and snotty behaviour though. If nothing else, have him appear in NWN2 so I can relieve him of his nice'n shiny chainmail..

I wouldn't mind a little BG1 area-exploring. That would add to the game-time. Morrowind-areas might be a bit much, but the ToB-"stuff as much story as you can in every single room" can also be a bit extreme. BG1 was pretty balanced that way. Also, I'd welcome a few hidden dungeons/areas with some modest random l337 that isn't related to the main-quest. Places you only find if you search properly. *shrug* J.

Agree. 30-40 hrs isn't all that much. BG2 length is fine.
