Just Getting Started
Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones are geriatric rivals in a retirement community for rich people. Sounds good, but it isn't. Took an hour of meandering bullcrap before any semblance of plot materialized.

Jumanji WTTJ.
Incredibly boring mash up of Breakfast Club and Indiana Jones....I could say more but the movie isn't worth it.
I feel like you may have gone in with too high expectations if it ended up anywhere like those two films, even a boring version. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm expecting MST3K levels so I'm sure I'll be entertained when I do.

True, but I can easily understand this as a 'this is what I really wanted to do with that' project. I mean, stealing fish man falls in love is an easy sell. Stealing Abe Sapien falls in love including details such as his proclivity for eggs, bit too specific.
-
Let's not forget this isn't the first fish man in love Del Toro himself has made. It's even the same actor.

It's too simple a concept to consider a copy of anything, but there's plenty of things to accuse it of copying closer than that. Old horror comics come to mind.

Yes, so visible that I interned in Amsterdam for six months and still managed to not know where it was.

I just happened to look up David Ogden Stiers about an hour or two ago, on IMDB... and it says that he passed away—today.
Noo he's one of my favourite voice actors! RIP.
RIP the spambots that get the touch of death from liking the thread.
I don't know why they do it. They even like moderator thread starters. It's like moths to a flame.

A cartoon called "Over the Garden Wall", the entire show is about the length of a movie. I recommend it - it was dark and mysterious and delightfully effed up. Includes the voice talents of Elijah Wood, Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry and John Cleese.

Huh? I will take away the bike until you learn how to ride?In other words, take away the toys until you learn how to play safe.
How can you learn to use the thing if the thing is taken away?
Yeah, or how about that nonsense of needing a license to drive a car?
Don't know about where you live, but we actually drive cars to learn and get a license.
Sounds crazy I know...
Yes, which is learning to play safe? And if there's no learner's permit or license and you're caught driving, guess what happens?

There was nudity in that movie? It can't have been too distracting since I don't remember it.

Aside, I wonder what the numbers are for people who pay in their whole live and then have a massive coronary and are dead before they hit the ground (IE: never actually use any of the funds they paid in for their entire lives).
I don't know about numbers but I feel like that's a good indication they SHOULD have used some for checkups at least.

Honestly I've got no idea what conversation you're talking about, and my snark meth empire joke was not meant as confirmation of this waiting-lists-everywhere stuff.
-
I don't remember either, but I do remember the intense feeling of disappointment it created. That was more memorable than the ending itself.
-
I'm confused, I thought it was US politicians telling chronic pain sufferers they should just tough it out.

Note to self: Don't read The Food thread while hungry.
I'm taking note if your note.
-
Yes, incredibly anticlimatic ending. Considering the whole film structurewas build up, that ruined it.

*watches a country with a population under 10M wait for six months to lance a boil*
I'll wait six months for a boil if it means I don't have to build a meth empire when I get cancer.

I'm pretty sure that so far DC's cumulative effort is akin in 'dragon movie' terms to Eragon (2006) - critically panned, mildly successful returns on budget.
I actually searched that first, but couldn't find a proper face to face picture. Then that Dragonheart picture showed up with it's limited color palette and awful washed out look and I knew it was meant to represent DC.
-
DC wishes. Here's DC.

Happened upon a rerun marathon of a show called "Mountain Monsters". At first I thought it was one of those dumb "finding bigfoot" type shows and was about to switch, but then I realized it's actually a very convincing parody of such shows and now it's cracking me up.

They did the same thing after Sandy Hook though, and dropped it once the good press died off.

Okay, it never made him make Tusk.

He's looked less healthy before, but it never made him make Yoga Hosers.

The Movie Thread Returns

What the hell? You get a like for that vaguely humiliating rant, my man.
