  1. As far as I can tell, this thread is about how "nerds are stupid with girls, hahaHA". Well, zippedeedoodah. Your insight into nerd culture is just amazing!
  2. For some reason I decided to try and make Top 10s. Not sure if I'm entirely happy with them because it was a spur of the moment type thing, but here they are: Albums Top 10 10. Architecture in Helsinki
  3. I just started a new game of Baldur's Gate Trilogy after the horrible labour of installing it. Planning on going through it as a single wielding Kensai/thief. Any advice for me?
  4. I cry foul! I've heard of some of these, and even played them!
  5. The Patriot was directed by that german guy who also made Godzilla and Independence Day.
  6. LOL There's at least 25 - 30 if not more quality westerns and Once Upon a Time in the West > The Good, The Bad and The Ugly I would recommend all of these and there are more but I do not have the time The Wild Bunch The Great Silence The Searchers Unforgiven High Noon Outlaw Josey Wales High Plains Drifter Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid My Name is Nobody The Magnificent Seven Shane The Sons Of Katie Elder Blazing Saddles (The funniest western of all-time, the first to say Three Amigo's gets shot! ) The Man Who Shot Liberty Vance The Professionals 3:10 To Yuma (2007) Dances With Wolves R
  7. I'd answer this, but I don't know The Leviathan Wakes.
  8. Odd how that works. Just a few years ago I would hope Jehova's Witnesses would come by so I could try to convert them to atheism instead. Haha. (Never worked! Duh.)
  9. I made an e-card for a dutch card manufacturer that is barely known in holland let alone outside it yet fancies itself one of hallmark's major competitors. Bwaha. Oh well, paid work is paid work. How are you holding up, Wals? I have a friend who went through something similar about a year ago and he came out somewhat obsessed with death (to the point of going to shows of mediums) and things like angels and ghosts. And it doesn't seem like he's going to get over it anytime soon. I hope that doesn't happen to you. Maybe you can become a musician and write songs to get through it. It worked for E from the Eels. If I went through something like that, I'd look upon the album Electro-Shock Blues in a completely different light though...
  10. I guess I was wrong, but for the movie's sake I'll stick to my melancholy interpretation because the books and the movies are different. And I see why The Scouring of the Shire was taken out. It's quite obvious really. It's a final action sequence after the climax. It works okay in a book, but cinematically that's not a very good idea. It's pretty much the reason why everybody thought the first Pirates of the Carribean movie was too long, because they tacked on an action sequence (Will's rescue of Jack) at the end after the big climax (the big showdown vs the undead pirates and the curse being lifted and all). It just doesn't 'feel' right in a film which you cannot go at with your own pace as you can with a book.
  11. That depends, though. If you consider that it isn't really three movies at all rather than one big, almost twelve hour long movie, a half hour ending doesn't seem that much of a stretch. Also, and I may lose my nerd credentials by even asking this question, but isn't sailing off the Valinor the same thing as dying? I was pretty convinced Frodo died in that sequence.
  12. Not really. The thirds are almost always the worst reviewed. Bourne is apparently an exception, but seconds are sometimes quite well received, from Godfather II to Empire Strikes Back to X-Men 2 to Spider-man 2 to The Dark Knight. But rule of thumb is mostly that the first is the best and the sequels get increasingly worse. Like how nobody liked The Lost World until Jurassic Park III came and outsucked it or how Back to the Future II felt tacked on but number three seemingly served no purpose whatsoever.
  13. How are you guys still going at this? Don't you understand? This is who you're dealing with! All he's going to do is throw accusations of strawman arguements and ad hominem attacks at you for whichever point he can't think of an argument for. Go back to the topic of posting political cartoons and stop taking the bait. Between myself and Kurt Cobain, I'm 'pretty sure' you're making things up.
  14. I love that Minus cartoon. I have a print of it framed in my living room. Anyway, some of this description reminded me of the Stephen King adapted film "The Mist". Something like that would kick ass, because monsters are more fun to design than zombies are.
  15. Didn't the Lord of the Rings movies do that? Anyway, I only saw the first two Bourne movies. The first one was okay, but it felt to me as a Superhero Origin Story with an extremely miscast lead more than anything else. People keep saying stuff like "it's more realistic" but I found it about as realistic as, say, X-Men 2. However, the second movie just pissed me off and made me not want to watch another Bourne movie ever again. The director and/or cameraman and/or cinematographer made it completely unwatchable, seemingly on purpose. Moving the camera around so much it motion blurs every shot is a recipe for disaster. I remember naming it the worst movie of that year just for that reason. It took far too much effort on my eyes to even see what was going on.

    Books

Slowly working my way through the Discworld series. Now on "Mort". Like it so far. I loved the first two books and Equal Rites was great up until the end which I felt was something of an anticlimax.
  17. Interestingly, I didn't even know books were pirated. Music, movies, software, I knew this. Never heard of a book pirated though.
  18. Hahaha. And I thought the world had reached it's lowest point with the realdoll.
  19. Hey, when George Lucas came out with a new IP it was Willow. Just sayin', maybe you should be careful what you wish for.
  20. Yeah, I've seen people with T-shirts of that particular spoiler.
  21. Nicholas Cage gets quite the hate these days doesn't he? Well, I guess he did do that Wicker Man remake. But I still think he's a pretty likable actor. For me he's like Will Smith, he did quite a few wrong things but I just can't hate the guy for it because he just seems like an okay guy. I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark again. Still the best adventure movie I have ever seen.
  22. What bothers me is how bland the characters seem. Most Bioware characters are onedimensional, but at least they are usually colourfull and interesting on the surface. I'm hoping for an inversion here, because these guys even seem boring on the surface so far.
