JURASSIC PARKWORLD aka JURASSIC WORLD
That is what I said two posts ago. Honestly, Jurassic Park is to me what Star Wars is to most. It is also the first film I saw in theatres. Anyway, the sequels aren't as good, but the first Jurassic Park movie is a classic tale of nature against man and still one of the finest examples of blockbuster filmmaking where theme, plot and believability is still central to the experience. All the actors, while not giving a lot to do, are in top form and even the scenes without dinosaurs are a joy to watch. It's also still one of the best special effect movies and a lot of the effects heavy shots still hold up better than movies that came out recently. It's chock full of iconic moments, it's almost worth watching for the soundtrack alone, and last but not least, it is simply put, the only good dinosaur movie I have ever seen. I'm not going to deny that it's predictable, but honestly I don't find that to be an inherent downside to anything except for a mystery movie. Unexpected twists are nice, but sometimes a story can just play out and still be awesome.

Orogun, Spielberg isn't even making this. He's just on as a producer, and Spielberg is famously hands-off as a producer (with the infamous exception of Poltergeist). Honestly, rebooting this thing is probably the best thing to happen (even if it's a soft reboot). Jurassic Park was awesome, but the sequels were... disappointing, to say the least. I can't wait. Honestly, Jurassic Park is to me what Star Wars is to most. It is also the first film I saw in theatres. There's only one way to go from Jurassic Park 3, and that's up. Back to the basics of a dinosaur zoo gone wrong. I could watch a million variations of that. Pretty much everyone involved is super talented. Directed by Colin Trevorrow, who first came into public notice with the wonderfully quirky Audrey Plaza vehicle "Safety Not Guaranteed". In addition to Chris Pratt, also starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Omar Sy (of Intouchables fame) and the always intense Vincent D'Onofrio. Yes, you are correct, Private Gomer Pyle is going to be chased by dinosaurs.

That reminds me of an exchange from Men in Black. "They're giving us a galactic standard week to respond." "How long is that?" "One hour."- What you did today
I agree, but here's mine.. Why is there a d20 next to the knife? The reason he's going to give is "for scale" but it's really to establish nerd cred.- What you did today
I hope that age is still far off. Usually coasters don't bother me, I'm somewhat of a coaster-nut (as much as a European on a budget can be, anyway, I'm still saving up for a coaster tour of America) but it's just that this was one of the freely spinning cars variety that spin ridiculously fast. Pretty much everyone I saw come out had to support themselves because they were too dizzy to walk, even the teens.- What you did today
Sunny day so me and my girlfriend decided to check out a traveling funfair that graced a nearby city. Surprised at how big funfair rides have gotten - it can't be easy to set up a log flume and a roller coaster for just a week. The coaster was a spinning wild mouse that... spun a bit too much. Have had a headache ever since. Was still pretty fun.- Female gamers having a hard time in gaming communites

This might be slightly (fine, entirely) off topic, but did you forget to switch accounts again Gromnir?- Movies you've seen recently
Trailer to Interstellar.- Female gamers having a hard time in gaming communites
I hope it makes up for some of my earlier posts in this thread where I just flipped my lid and decided to yell at Gromnir about Americans and free speech with the most nonsensical arguments. Ironically, those posts have netted me more "likes" than anything else I've ever posted. Sometimes I get concerned about this board. See, this is why I don't know if I can take your claims seriously. Where on earth do you live that you consider this a conceivably accurate scenario? My god. Either you live in the worst place on the planet or you may be having some serious cognitive distortions.- Female gamers having a hard time in gaming communites
Not over his gender or skin color, anyway. But if anyone would drive people to do that...- Female gamers having a hard time in gaming communites
Interesting that Volo keeps saying all the things that are known to happen to women have also happened to him. None of those things have ever happened to me. In fact, the few times dumb idiots have harassed me on the internet they attempted to do so by making me out to be effeminate by comparing me to a girl, female slurs (bitch) or implying I was gay (liking men is a traditionally female trait). That, or they threaten and insult not me but my mother (hint: a woman). It's either bitch or son of a bitch. Women literally get more insults than me even when they're not around. In fact, one member of this board who shall not be named found a youtube channel of a female friend of mine and started insulting *her* in an attempt to attack me. I have never once been insulted based on my own gender or even race and I grew up as one of the few white kids in a black neighbourhood. There's only one conclusion. Volo is a woman. :D Kidding, obviously. Seriously though, I wonder if my experience is just skewed. In my experience men, especially white men, don't get harrassed on the internet even a quarter as much females do, but it could be that my experience has been skewed. I have not been seriously harassed on the internet - even playing MOBAs or MMOs (can't say about CoD type shooters, I never play 'em). I've gotten into a share of flame wars but that's the end of it. On the other hand, practically all the women I know are gamers (hell, my mother of all people killed the end boss of the Diablo 3 expansion this morning) and practically all of them have had bad experiences with it. Any other guys here faced strong abuse like Volo claims he has? Since no one else but Volo has spoken in this manner I'm inclined to take it with a grain of salt because hyperbolic grandstanding is his default setting.- What's on the idiot box... Part 2
Huh, must have misread it, 3 times... stupid heat scrambling my brain. I kinda just assumed he meant Batman & Robin. If you're making a case that a movie is awful by comparing it, you'd compare it to an awful movie. Batman Forever was just... subpar. I think a lot of the (well deserved) hate for Batman & Robin seeped into it's predecessor. I mean, a couple of elements that were present in that abomination were in this one too, but on a whole it was more in the "disappointing" camp than a complete failure. I don't get the hate for the Constantine movie, but like I said before, I wasn't terribly familiar with the character. As such, I had no frame of reference and I found it fairly entertaining at the time. Keanu Reeves and his little sidekick were awful and it suffered from a bit of an anticlimax, but the plot and the art direction were pretty cool and the supporting players were all top notch, with special mention of Peter Stormare's amazing ability to be despicable with only a handful of scenes. It may not be faithful, and I get why diehard fans would be very disappointed now that I've read a couple of Hellblazer comics, but I didn't think it was a complete waste. Anyway, I quite enjoyed the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finale. A lot of throwbacks, some unexpected moments and even some actual quality acting. Not amazing, but it did its job.- Music... must go on...
Thanks for that.- What are you playing now
The almost "heil hitler" sounding farewell to each immigrant is stuck in mine. I felt dirty playing that game, but it was damned interesting.- Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy - Ch26 (Mae'Var)

Thanks. Looks like fun. Hopefully it won't turn out as bad as the similarily themed but non-musical Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire.- 11 replies

It's not even that exaggerated. That weird piercing is the only thing that seperates Disturbed's vocalist David Draiman from being the metal twin of Howie Mandel.- Which new games will you be playing soon?
On my list to play are Reaper of Souls, Rayman Legends - then when I'm done with those I hope The Stomping Land will be out - which is likely, because I'm not allowed to play those other two games until my huge backlog of work has been processed.- What you did today

That's possible, but I do understand that as a European, the only time I ever hear about Americans defending free speech it's the KKK claiming they have a right to march, or the Westboro Baptist Church championing their right to picket funerals. At the same time, the only time I ever hear Americans (keep in mind, through the filter of European media) criticizing free speech it's when it actually matters, like Snowden or Wiki Leaks where the government lies to your faces and prosecutes those who tell the truth. I read a hilarious article once by American comedy writer Daniel O'Brien where he describes how he had to scrap major parts of a satiricial book on "How to Fight Presidents" about how to beat Abraham Lincoln and such in bareknuckle boxing matches should you ever have to do so, because he fell under investigation by the FBI. I may not understand how Americans really see it, but I do understand how their policies on free speech translates to European countries as being a complete scam. Not saying it is, but through all the exposure I have on the subject it looks like that. Obviously I can't have a complete picture, not being American and very rarely speaking to Americans on the subject, but it doesn't look like Americans care half as much about it as they pretend. I mean, I don't think the UK ever came close to passing a Patriot Act. - What you did today
