I think the topic has been fairly intelligently discussed. I would like to remind everyone that admitting to or advocating piracy is frowned upon on a game developers forum, so please refrain from that. We'll allow the topic for now, unless the discussion turns sour.

I don't want to dominate the world. That's such a huge hassle. I'm fine with just dominating your money.

Dat Backer Content
Blarghagh replied to Bryy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
That's a very black and white view. It seems somewhat entitled - because some people paid for content, it automatically means nobody else can? I can understand the subjective moral objection (it is implied that it is a special privelege) but I don't see a rule. Not to say I don't agree with you, mind. I would definitely raise an eyebrow in a "that's not a decent thing to do" manner, but I wouldn't set it as a requirement. What if the Make A Wish foundation contacted Obsidian - this kid will die of cancer before the game comes out, and his last wish is to create a weapon for PoE! Would Obsidian be obliged to say "sorry, he didn't pay for it"? An extreme and unlikely scenario perhaps, but in such a scenario I feel it would definitely be the decent thing to do. Making it a fixed rule removes that flexibility.- 110 replies

I thought this thread was about me! I do agree, I would like to be able to play a neutral character. One of the things I disliked in Knights of the Old Republic 2 is the light side and dark side mastery bonuses - the completionist in me felt forced to pick a path and stick to it. That's my problem, but on the other hand, I couldn't pick a prestige class either until I had a light side or dark side net shift. I do think this game won't be possible without at least some combat (if I recall, Sawyer said as much in an interview) but most of it should be avoidable.

Guys, not that this isn't entertaining, but this isn't a casino. Can you work out the details via PM? Personally I think Obsidian's track record in delivering things on time is pretty damn good, but this is their baby so as far as I'm concerned they can work on it as long as they want if it makes the game better. Blizzard and Valve's style of going "it's done when it's done" has served those companies very well.

I don't recall the original, but Megaman 2 for the NES definitely has health bars.

Gfted1 beat me to it. Anywhere except Way Off Topic, I tend to read more than I post. I'm not one for speculation and most news gets posted before I get to it because I get by far most of my video game news from this board. It's much more reliable than gaming magazines. I'm sure if Way Off Topic added to my post count, it would be substantially higher. I'm sorry you feel that way. Have you considered using the ignore preferences to improve your experience?

Do you currently consider it an unsafe place?

Thanks guys, I'll do my best to prove worthy of the position. This community has been a part of my life for ten years now and it is, by far, the best community I have had the pleasure of being a part of - I don't take this lightly. I have no intention of bossing anyone around - I don't feel that's a part of what a moderator does. I agree. I suppose True Neutral could imply some measure of objectivity? But this is a really old screen name. Haha, thanks. I know what I'm getting in to. It's not my first rodeo.

Guessed my native language (Dutch) third, after Norwegian and English. Thought I had a standard American accent, or a US Black/Ebonics accent, or Singaporean. That's quite a group.

Game of Thrones... That was painful to watch. Ugh.

I felt Wolverine was reduced to a plot device. Any time he actually gets to do something it's relate exposition to the other characters and get taken out of the action, whether by his opponent, or by having temporal seizures. He spent pretty much every action sequence incapacitated.

Days of Future Past was surprisingly good. It goes a long way in fixing the franchise, but as a result of what it has to do never really comes together as a film about a team. Not the perfect X-Men movie, but a step in the right direction. And the Quicksilver sequence is the best sequence in the franchise since Nightcrawler attacking the White House. And looking at that post-credits stinger, looks like they're taking on my favourite X-Men villain next. Looking forward to it.

I don't see why everyone is surprised. The idea is thrown around several times in the books (Henry Wu laments that Hammond didn't let him make "better" dinosaurs) - in fact, the first novel confirms only a few animals had frog DNA, other gaps were filled using other types of DNA. There's even a Carnotaur in the Lost World that can change color similarily to cuttlefish. This has always been in the franchise.

I attribute this to Scarface syndrome. Walt is not the hero, but people seem to think he is. Her character gets seen as an annoying nag holding the hero back, but she's really not.

I just feel it doesn't fit in - for the same reason I have a mod on top of TSLRCM that removes Kaevee again. Bad dialogue, bad voice acting and encounters that just aren't that interesting. Don't get me wrong, I'm super impressed with the people that managed to make it, but it's more of a "try out once" thing than something that makes the experience better. More than anything it makes me think that while the ending was cut due to the rushed schedule, these things were cut simply because they weren't good enough.

For a Jedi Watchman/Sith Assassin, I've had good experiences going single saber and upgrading it to increase the crit range, maxing out critical strike and focusing on stealth. It makes the game a lot longer, though, because sneak attacking all enemies is time consuming and sneaking past them is a waste of xp points.
-
Sucks about the crashing. I'd help you but mine works great. Try the kotor2 pcgamingwiki page, they tend to know what causes problems. Regarding dual-wield or single saber, what kind of skills are you focusing on? What kind of prestige class are you going to take? If you're a more physical character that kills stuff with your lightsaber, go with dual-wielding two sabers because your damage output will be higher - especially if you take the speed force powers and learn the flurry line to give you the extra attacks per round. If you're focusing on killing your enemies with force powers, go for single saber with the Dueling feat for the defense bonus to minimize damage you take between casting.
-
Good luck with your situation, Labadal. That really sucks.
-
Dual-wield.

That's so cool - I had no idea. Thanks a million, time to take a whole new approach to my next playthrough.

Yeah, if you try to completionist this, you'll go insane. You will always be missing stuff. Anyway, the game is so eay that any build is feasible, so I'd say just do what you want and don't worry too much about stats. My last playthrough was a gunslinging Guardian/Weapon Master. :D Rosj - What do you get if you take a negative influence playthrough? I never tried it. I didn't realize you got different content from it. I'd honestly advise against the Droid Planet. The mod is impressively done and much props to the creators, but the actual content is awful - I feel the experience is better without it.

So, BioWare intended to make a KotOR 3 after they refused to make KotOR 2 because they decided to focus on their own IPs, recommending KotOR 2 be made by Obsidian instead. But BioWare liked KotOR 2 so much that they decided to make a KotOR 3, and then they decided NOT to do it and make Dragon Age instead, which up to the upcoming THIRD sequel is still a ripoff of KotOR 2?
