take the saved images to whatever image effects software you have on your desk top and brighten them. When I enlarged the images I was able to some great details.

Honestly? I'd like to see a healthy relationship. The relationship with Bastilla is poison. She's was only attracted to power. Malak's darkside power, or your light or darkside powers and your ability to best her in combat. I mean how does Bastilla go from confessing feelings for you and then joining Malak? Strange gal. Lotta issues. Yuthura Ban showed more humanity than Bastilla ever did. She expresses real regret and you don't have to beat it out of her either. I'd take Yuthura over Bastilla any day. Of course Yuthura had issues as well. Check under the bed for you go to sleep!! I still liked Yuthura over Bastilla. Her pain came from a real place. She was a slave and was left for dead. Bastilla is just spoiled and self-righteous. Dark Side Bastilla is just boring!! She's just a darkside parrot. Dull and Lifeless.

stupid sitting characters
The Omnifarious Host replied to carnifex's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Most characters in the game insult you when you ask them any questions anyway. Somebody sitting there minding their own business doesn't bother me. I don't like the idea that I have to talk to every single person in the game. Some of them had stories that made me want to chew my hand off while they were talking. -
Make the Sith more opposing in their look!!!!
The Omnifarious Host replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I wondered the same thing myself. I don't know if Bioware had time constraints or not, but it does seem as if they did cut corners on the Sith and the Jedi. The developers at Obsidian seem to be addressing all of the fan concerns as Jedi robes look quite authentic. I can hardly wait for to see what they have done with the Sith robes. -
I tried in vain to find the site that has the MOD for the Leviathan. I actually thought it was at Holowan Labs but I couldn't find it. I did find the MODS for recruitable Darth Bandon, Yuthura, and Dustil. Though that's not the same thing. My point is rank amatures are doing this. Obsidian could probably do this in their sleep. *wonders why Ender changed what had to be the most original avatar I have ever seen*
-
This was actually cleared up on the Bioware boards some time ago I believe. - LucasArts owns KotOR. - BioWare developed it; LucasArts payed for it. - LucasArts owns all rights to the future of KotOR. - Obsidian Entertainment has the KotOR license now. BioWare is providing technical support on their licensed engine "Odyssey". That is the end of the line as far an Bioware is concerned. KOTOR is an Expanced Universe creation that first came from Dark Horse Comics. Under their agreement, anything they create in the Star Wars Universe becomes the property of Lucasfilm and it's sister companies. So Bioware owns nothing. They had the license to make the game, and that's all they had.
-
They don't need Bioware's permission to do a Redux. They would however need permission from Lucas Arts since it's their franchise and they are the publishers. Games are constantly ported from PC to Console or Console to PC with new 3rd party developers who add new details to not just graphics and levels, but story lines. Such changes like the ones I mentioned wouldn't require a change in the story, and only minor changes graphically. Some extra voice acting and cut scenes at best. If I can find the site I will post a link to where someone had managed to set up a work bench in the armory on the Command Deck, housed party members in the barracks, and connected the bridge level so that it would activate from the elevator. It's not a first class job mind you. The crew on the bridge of the Leviathan ignore the PC, but the computer on the brige has been changed so that you can visit the mission planets. Imagine what the guys at Obsidian could do?

Ok how about KOTOR redux or Special Edition with the release of TSL? I know, I know, why revisit the first game? To do all the things that Bioware could have done with KOTOR but didn't, and add new replay value to a dull Darkside game. -Like recruiting Dark Side characters like Darth Bandon, Yuthura, or Master Uthar, and having them as playable charcters. Even the insane Jorak Uln. He would have been the counter to Jolee. Imagine the stories that nut would have told! :D - return to the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine as the Dark Lord and take out Masters Vandar, Vrook, Zhar, and the other Jedi there. (You kill everyone in the Sith Academy on Korriban. The Darkside game should have been able to do this in reverse) -Take control of the Leviathan and complete the mission for the Star Forge Something like this would require new cut scenes for planet arrivals, but giving the gamer a chance to strut up and down the bridge of their own Star Destoyer as the Dark Lord would have been sweet! Landings could be done with a small ship or shuttle like the one Bastilla flies to the unknown planet. there are actually a few people I know who are modding the PC Game so that they can take control of the Leviathan. (Carth, Juhani, Jolee, Mission and Zalbaar would flee at points in the game, and would all leave after the character accepts the fact that he/she is the Dark Lord) It was stupid that they all stuck around following Dark Side Revan. The PC would then fine Carth and Co trying to complete the missions on their own when they run into their ole pal Revan. A few polishing touches and some additional voice acting and cut scenes would finish this off. Gamers would be compelled to play the REDUX first, and it would be an even bigger hit the 2nd time around.

Questions the the Devs - Take 2
The Omnifarious Host replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I played KOTOR at 480p on my HDTV. Any chance Obsidian will push it to 1080i HD? 720p at least? -
I agree, and developers will always develop for the market leader. But developers are always looking to expand.
-
Sony has hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of titles for the PS2. The problem is that majority of these titles are really mediocre. A market saturation of "fair" games. And soon Sony may not have the edge in exclusives like FF. When I first heard that Square Enix was considering developing for the existing X-Box and the coming "Next Box" I didn't believe it. Then Square Enix released dismal financial news to shareholders in Tokyo, and Square president Hisashi Suzuki said Square is interested in moving away from creating standalone console titles to delivering their games to a worldwide audience in the future. He also confirmed that negotiations with Microsoft to work on the Xbox and it's Next Box console have been ongoing for nearly two years. The point is that if Square develops for the X-Box many more of Sony's exclusives will follow. Take Namco for example. They had a 180% jump in profits and announced that it was the Gamecube that made up the lions share of all Soul CaliberII sales. PlayStation 2 - 51.2 million GameCube - 9.55 million Xbox - 9.4 million The PS2 is still THE console in the videogame industry and that's not likely to change anytime soon, but if it's long time exclusives start walking over to other consoles because developers want to expand profits then market share in the future could certainly shift. If not now then certainly with the next generation of consoles that come to consumers. What's really crazy is that both Sony and X-Box admit that they lose money on every single console they sell. Real wacky business.

Questions the the Devs - Take 2
The Omnifarious Host replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Okay. New Question. The Mask of the Sith Lord in all the promos, game previews, and early screen shots. I have a theory......... After careful examination of the look and texture of the Mask(very voodoo in appearence btw) I have come to the conclusion that the Mask of this Sith Lord is no mask at all.............. IT'S SOMEONE'S SKULL! The Mask of the Sith Lord is made up of Frontal and Maxilla Bones. The Jaw and Mandible Bones have been removed to create this face plate Mask. So if this Mask really is a skull, then who did the skull belong to? Taken From the Bones of an Ancient Sith Lord? A Jedi Master? (in which case it wasn't given willingly) Revan? Bastilla? Malak? (remember that Malak had no jaw or mandible bone) I know that this a plot oriented question, and speculation on top of it. Just thought I would ask the Devs anyway. -

Indeed, but I do believe that the developers here at Obsidian are going to remedy that. I would expect that all armor types will be available and will look like they are supposed to. -
Questions the the Devs - Take 2
The Omnifarious Host replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I didn't mind armor effecting dexterity because that actually makes sense. Armor effecting Jedi Powers bothered me because in KOTOR the Sith Masters wore armor and their powers were un-effected. Darth Bandon wore a "fiber" version of the Sith Master armor. His powers weren't effected either. And of course we know that Darth Vader was a bionic armored machine, so I don't think those D20 rules should apply. -
Lovely Artwork

I think this is a bit better than the one that tsl has on site. I have a better one, i had to save it as jpeg as the site won't let me post bitmaps for some reason, apparently. anyone want any others? Even Maria Had I seen this sooner, I would have posted it Yes this is the image I described. When I first saw it I thought it was a tomb site because it reminded me slightly of a mausoleum, but I remembered that the Jedi don't bury their dead and those whose bodies don't fade away are consumed with fire. Upon closer examination I saw the Jedi with his LS and thought that this could be Dantooine and the new Jedi Academy there. The reason why I lean towards that idea is because in KOTOR the architrecture in the Academy was very simular. The simple stone work. The open air rontunda. The attention given to the plant life. The Jedi preserved a large tree in KOTOR. It would seem that they built the Academy around the old tree instead of cutting it down. The set up in this scene seems in keeping with that design. -

Indeed it does. It would give gamers the kind of Jedi experiance they have been asking for all these years. So many Star Wars titles in the past have failed to capture the whole Jedi experiance the way KOTOR was able to. TSL can raise the bar even higher by allowing gamers to train their own apprentice. -
Questions the the Devs - Take 2
The Omnifarious Host replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Questions: - Will the score for TSL be composed and conducted before an orchestra this time like Shadows of the Empire? - With the introduction of customizable LS will we actually be able to name our LS like swords in LOTOR for example? - Will there be more artifacts like ancient weapons, sabers and robes? - Will the PC be training his/her own apprentice at some point in the game? I know the last question is plot oriented and I don't expect an answer, so I'll understand if there is "no comment" answer given. -

I still think that this means that you take on an apprentice in the game. At some point you have to stop being the Padawan in the game, and you are supposed to be the last Jedi in the galaxy. Kreia sounds like another Jolee type. Left the Order years ago and takes the mentor role, but if you're character is dark then would Kreia stay with you? Would she leave or join you after being influenced by your dark side power? If Kreia is influenced by you that would hardly make her the mentor. I think after your character reaches knighthood you will probably have the option of training your own apprentice. I think this is the whole point of being able to sense the Force (light/dark) in recruitable characters in the game. -

I think we get an apprentice. I think that will determine the way recruiting works as well, and also explains the prestige class Jedi Master being added. -

Lovely Artwork
The Omnifarious Host replied to Maria Caliban's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The best artwork I have seen has been the Concept art of an image of a Jedi walking before what looks like a conservatory with giant bowls filled with plants and a water garden sitting on top of a pavillion. There is a huge open air rotunda very much like the Jedi Academy of KOTOR. It looks very serene and inviting. There is a long bench atop a small rise of stairs leading to the pavilion. I hope this is the the look for the new Jedi Academy. I had to blow this image up to supersize to catch all the great details you can't see with the normal image size. This concept art can be seen at official TSL site for those who haven't seen it yet. -
KotorII side/mini games
The Omnifarious Host replied to Jedi Master's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The only upgrades I could think of for the Ebon Hawk would be cosmetic changes mostly. I always thought it would have been great if the person at the dock not only took a fee from you for landing, but also offered repairs if needed and had a store in the dock that offered things like: -A tagerting computer for the turrets, so then you could fire missiles. -The option to purchase different missiles (proton, concussion etc) -upgrade the gun turrets with different batteries like rapid fire batteries -the option to change the color of the Ebon Hawk(for some reason I keep wondering what it would look like with red strips instead of orange) -a holo chess mini game -a kolto tank if you or your party members become severely injured(completely unnessary as you are automatically healed once you walk on the Hawk)
