  1. Nail on the head there, Steve. With much of the world's human population living in revolting conditions, andabuse of people occurring at remarkable levels even domestically, I get more than a little aggravated by people wasting time on animal rights.
  2. Much later.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/4577808.stm Animal rights protesters set boars 'free' from farm. Resulting in several getting run over, some being shot. The local hunt are called in to help find and retrieve the remainder.
  3. I think you chaps are right about all shareholders having a right to attend board meetings. I'm not sure I'd want to abrogate that for one nutcase. I'm sure there must be provisions that can still be invoked for - for example - speaking out of turn, threatening behaviour and so on. Steve's mention of the Yaks is completely true. Although you have to put that in Japanese cultural context to understand how they were able to extort money in that way.
  4. Can we open a book on how soon he gets run down in an accident?
  5. Just out of interest, how many of you make the effort to use public transport and recycle every last thing that's recycable? - I don't recycle everything (mainly because I know what happens to it), but I always use public transport or carpool Do you switch all your lights and TV/Computer off when not in the room? - Yup on lights. Computer burns more power in start up than twelve hours of idling. Do you only switch the hot water on twice a day? - Yup Do you take your own bags with you whilst shopping for food? - Yup Do you use solar/wind/bio power to cut down your grid consumption? - I'm a nuke fan Have you taken measures to provide extra insulation to your housing? - Yup I also hunt animals occasionally, thus leaving more oxy for us humans! Gawd I'm fantastic.
  6. Erm... not sure I agree with you there. Opium has increased, but that's not just because of the installation of the Khabul govt. And the warlords are definitely improved. I still think that domestically the US wouldn't wear another invasion of anywhere, no matter what the provocation.
  7. Idea for wasting time: I have noticed that some nosy people check the saved form information on your computer (on pages like Google) to see what you are up to. I thought one way to waste time would be to search for deliberately misleading or confusing words and phrases.
  8. Friends of mine have just made a superhero/supervillain board game. But it is not yet released.
  9. :"> damn me and my laxity in biology!
  10. Insects can be pretty tasty, actually.
  11. "You're damn right, it's a beautiful day." - Eels, Mr E's Beautiful blues. I don't know why but that tune always cheers me up.
  12. I just had a surreal thought. They could make the plastic cases customisable. You know, have plastic presidents or something. I'm sure GW would buy into that.
  13. Privacy needs to be maintained. No one has the right to know I what I plan om doing. If I break the law then arrest me after I break the law. Also why the hell would you be invading the privacy of allies. They are allies, and there should be a level of trust. If you don't trust them then they are not allies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is not my intention to offend you when I say that I find that position rather naive. I might even go so far as to accuse you of inconsistency, given your other statements on this forum regarding the general calibre of humanity. One's allies cannot and should not be relied upon like knights of legend. They cannot be presumed to act consistently in your support. Nor, in a respectful alliance OUGHT they be presumed upon. Therefore it is both right and proper to spy upon one's allies, within reason. Electronic eavesdropping strikes me as well within the bounds of decency. The United States, for example, eavesdrops on the UK yet the fact does not perturb us in the slightest. ~~ The Dude said "No offense to any of our good service men, but essentially they are trained to see their enemy as less of a person so its easier to kill them--two immoral acts in one. Not only is it corruption of peoples minds, governments often try to justify war with some frivolous reason. " Not all militaries train by dehumanising their opponents. Many simply state that war is job which must be done. Even a cursory glance at history will reveal many examples of soldiers killing when necessary, and then immediately acting with compassion during cease-fires, or after surrender. Nevertheless you do make an interesting point. Governments frequently commit acts one might consider immoral if you thought about it.
  14. I'm afraid I must concur. I diagnose a cocoon. Your nose is clearly the orifice you ar extruding the material from. The downside is that you are a revolting freak. The upside is you can make superstrong fabrics! Just think how pleased your wife will be when she learns you can make stockings!
  15. junkers?
  16. There are several roles in a hunting team. Some guys (usually the older ones) like to sit in towers all day and get fat. Some guys like to sneak around with their guns and wait for the prey to come running at them, and some guys do all the work with their dogs, trying to get the prey to move in the direction of the sneaking guys and the guys just sitting in the towers (getting fat). As I am one of the guys who walk around a lot, using our family dogs to scare the prey, I don't get to do much shooting at all. But I do carry around a rifle in case I stumble on some deaf animal. The reason I don't like killing comes from one time when I shot a bird. I hit it right in the chest with a bullet (not shotgun!) but the damn thing didn't die. It flew out over a field and crashlanded in the middle of it, some 150-200 meters (yards) away. The sick thing is that it let out a death scream all the way, that sounded something like human baby crying out in death anxiety. Since then I've not felt comfortable shooting anything. I might need to mention that I was very young at the time of the bird incident.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fair point. I believe I may have mentioned this before but some twits ruled that you can't shoot a deer anywhere except the brain. Rather than the chest. It seems they felt this would lead to a quick death. The same people also ruled that you can only use a bolt action rifle. Bearing in mind deer can't be lured into fake drug deals, and must be shot at some distance, many deer that are culled get shot in the head, missing their tiny penny sized brains. The deer then runs off and hides. Since we don't allow hunting with dogs, the deer often escapes, and dies somewhere hidden, in agaony, over the next few days. This is more humane, it seems.
  17. We had a case quite recently where a worker at GCHQ ratted out the fact that we were (OMG) eavesdropping on our European allies. I'm really not clear what she thought should be done differently. Nor why she felt that this heinous crime permitted her to ignore her own legal obligation NOT TO TELL ANYONE.
  18. First morning of the New Year. May we all suddenly get paid a thousand dollars for every post we make in WoT...
  19. How bad are you at shooting? You hunt, but don't like killing? Are you a stormtrooper?
  20. I like military docs. They don't soft soap you. If you are properly ill they tell you. And if you are just whining they tell you.
  21. I too can warn firsthand against posting when drunk or v tired.
  22. I see your points there Commissar. I would suggest, however, that if law international or national condemns sensible activity then government ought to change the law, not merely subvert it. On the other hand I know that the electorate are hardly very sensible about sensitive or complex issues, so maybe the only realistic option is for the govt to break the law.
