  1. Points to Lonewolf. Crom, I appreciate and applaud your instincts in trying to be understanding. Lord knows we need all the understanding we can get. But by making excuses you help legitimise their actions. As an aside, not aimed at Crom, no-one made excuses for the torturers at 'ghraib. And correctly so.
  2. (w00t) You really make me laugh. Yes, there is only 4% difference between me and a chimp, but does this mean that an absolutely miniscule difference of less than a percent between me and a Ghanaian doesn't prove anything? Give me a break! Yes across our species we have different looks and different builds, but so far as anything that matters goes, we're the same. Or do you believe that big nosed people or brunettes are different from others? If anyone wants to read up on the science of race there's a chapter in the book 'Intelligence in Question'. I'd lend you my copy, but I don't want it coming back covered in jam.
  3. That would actually be illegal. What I REALLY don't understand is why he didn't set up on a proper site and sell advertising.
  4. One of my exes is a geologist, and she said they aren't close by any means.
  5. I don't see what our behaviour has got to do with it. Mother Earth is a neglectful parent, and would squash us sooner or later no matter what happens or what we do. far better to get all industrialised, take what we need and get spacebound.
  6. *singing* There is a God, he loves us all so much... Damn fine to see him get his just desserts. I especially love the fact that he claims he is always honest on his CV. Personally if I wanted to get even I'd begin emailing his personal info to every spam 419 scam spam I got. It would be bound to wind up in the best hands eventually, and he'd be in meltdown...
  7. Shaved? Men shave their chests nowadays? Good grief... I just spent 144 quid on clothes in a single store, and began to question my sexuality...
  8. I dislike them intensely, but in the spirit of fairness i should say that I used their free trial and forgot about it. They started billing me, and I rang up to cancel. The young man I spoke to acknowledged not only my right to cancel, but in fact refunded the money since the trial period ended, since he could see I hadn't used it. Which was pretty decent.
  9. If any of you put that damn gif on here, I shall report you to the Islamist fanatics, and they will visit you in the wee small hours and stuff a dusty bearded man up your nightshirt.
  10. I'm just sick of the insurgents getting a free ride in the media for all the killings they do. I run into people every day who excuse these fethwits saying things like "Oh they only attack civilians because they're too weak to attack the military." Murdering people because they wear shorts in Iraq. Throwing battery acid in the faces of teachers in Afghanistan because they have the effrontery to think women deserve an education. Killing their own muslim clerics who question these actions everywhere.
  11. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/5020804.stm Iraqis shot for wearing shorts. I for one think the insurgents clearly have a plan for a bright future for the country.
  12. Wait, I'm supposed to celebrate your slow decay and senescence?
  13. I've always agreed with the venerable Dr Johnson "Every man thinks meanly of himself for never having been a soldier or having been to sea." Besides that I'd have to say I'd like to look back and say I lived with honour and courage. But since I'm a cowardly lying weasel, this may be unrealistic.
  14. Easter-egg spoiler:
  15. You've seen the easter-egg in BG2?
  16. Interesting points. I assumed you were going to do one of those "OMG I've wasted my life!" moments that I go through periodically. :D My answer would echo those of others. Consider the hamburger. If you want beef, eat a steak. If you want salad, eat a salad. If you want bread buy fresh bread. And don't get me started on the ketchup. But a burger is an excellent thing. EDIT: and fyi, I do read books, but I prefer a story in crpg for two reasons 1) I read damned fast. To get immersed for long I need to have the procedural stuff in between story chunks. I finish the average short novel in about 6-8 hours. 2) I get immersed more fully I can engage more parts of my brain. Thus problem solving, and mathematics suck me in further than just imagination.
  17. I liked the way in BG that occasionally a party member would get completely banjo'ed into a gazillion wet chunks and be impossible to resurrect. Frustrating certainly, but not bad.
  18. Not that that really matters... considering: LOL
  19. *gasp* :D That would RULE. Interview Volo! :D
  20. I like the system in Aliens, the pnp game. Huge hit location/penetration tables. I liked it because suddenly you were, like, "Ow, my spleen!" rather than "Huh, I lost ten hp".
  21. Very kind of you all to pitch in. I have passed on your recommendations, and they were most gratefully received. If she does not go crazy with boredom and long-bomb the infant into a canal you may take some of the credit. BTW I realy liked the look of Grim Fandango when I saw it.
  22. There are modders here among the regular members. I'd suggest you grab one of them. Could be more interesting in some ways.
  23. I, as I may have previusly stated, am a cyberyokel. I use MSN. BUt you will never know under what name. AHAHAHAHAHA!
  24. As stated above, my friend's wife is in need of assistance. Your assistance. She has recently given birth and is going doolally at home with nowt to do but talk to the baby. They have a computer. She enjoys point and click puzzle games. She also enjoys (slightly less) text adventure games. She cannot shoot or fight for toffee. I was wondering if you could suggest any good games to buy or download. She has finished all the Monkey Island games, and all the Zork games.
  25. So... short answer is... the newspaper got it wrong, and the law encourages islamic dress for Iranian muslims? In light of this neat conclusion, and the fact that ongoing discussion appears to be about religion rather than Iran, I declare this thread 32% off-topic, 37% tedious, and 100% sexy. *gong*
