  1. I was annoyed no-one mentioned which APC it was.
  2. I'd like to clarify these points. Unless you have solid answers for each of them then an impeachment will be a collossal waste of time and money. You said: It's time for the American people and Congress to act. With so much at stake, we have a president whose administration stands out in its criminality and disdain for the rule of law. The Case for Impeachment explains the legal history and grounds for impeaching George W. Bush and brings forth more than a half dozen articles of impeachment the likes of: *Lying and inducing Congress and the American people into an unjust war. - I ask you flatly, in what way is any piece of military/clandestine intelligence a lie? You can't impeach every president who gets told what he wants to hear. I would guarantee that EVERY president has done this. *Allowing his friends and business cronies to profiteer off the war in Iraq. - Possibly. Although based on my experioence investigating a corruption case on a land deal in the US at state level I'd say you'd be in for a hard time. *Authorizing torture and rendition of prisoners of war and suspected terrorists--a complete violation of the Geneva Conventions, a treaty the U.S. has signed and is therefore part of our law. - The Geneva convention only applies to signatories. We've discussed this before. In any event, enemy combatants captured out of uniform are to be shot under the Geneva convention. It's not an international fluffiness pact. *Stripping American citizens of their Constitutional rights--holding people with no charge, wiretapping them illegally, offering them no trial, and never allowing them to face their accusers. - Guard Dog already answered this. *Failing in almost every way possible to defend the homeland and our borders. - In what way exactly? There hasn't been a single orchestrated assault on US soil since September 11th. Personally I don't cerdit this to George but to the immense hard work and new resources of the various Federal Agencies.
  3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6898667.stm A man in Oz decides to run his privately owned APC (not a tank) into mobile phone masts. This is cool enough. But I also note that the BBC has a suggested ink bottom right "HOw to drive a tank", suggesting they like this behaviour and want others to learn how.
  4. I wouldn't be much of an Englishman if it did.
  5. Good point, and one I think Azarkon was making earlier (is it just me or was he also digging at me when he mentioned the white man's burden?). It's the empowered classes who actually pose the greatest large scale threat to immigrants, homosexuals and what have you. It's also the empowered classes, particularly the enfamilied powered classes who get conspiratorial when faced with the realisation that the real world may not be so keen on them as mumsy and dadsy. However, the empowered classes aren't what you have to worried about on a Friday evening out for a meal.
  6. mmm, yummy. Just as bad as the Hungry-Man breakfast. 1000 calories may be high if you're on a diet, but an adult mae is supposed to consume roughly 2500 calories daily if he's active. Eating over a third at breakfast is fine, if you have a moderate lunch. The worst thing is the fat, but one thing to be sure of is that high fat keeps you feeling full longer. Nutritionally I don't see anything very wrong with this meal. Certainly nothing worth shrieking about.
  7. I'd like to see more of that in snickers ads. "The chairman of Mars foods today announced he "Had no ****ing clue where that ad with the guitar guy came from. It totally sucked." "
  8. You're just describing Laozi. Oh, burnsauce!!! Oh wait, that was hurtful There there, old man. Here, have a sanity point.
  9. Samm, I wanted to interview them initially because I found them hilarious. For many years I was in the habit of interviewing anyone I pleased. With or without a reason beyond curiosity. This largely stopped after one of my interviewees tried to stab me. I am pleased to report he was very bad at it. Lest I be guilty of misrepresentation I must say he was not a militia member or neofascist. I am sure they would stab me properly. I once attempted to interview the AWB (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afrikaner_Weerstandsbeweging) in South Africa. But while approaching them I suddenly realised how perfectly stupid they were and burst out laughing. I had to hide behind a car. I am quite certain that they could hear someone laughing, but they'd have had to admit how silly they looked in order to do anything about it. I do not recommend this style of research to anyone. Unless it works.

The spoon question has nothing to do with small numbers. It's because you've restricted your measurement to integers. If you had a less abstract definition of how large/heavy/tasty a spoon had to be to qualify as a whole spoon, then error would come back in. But you've said that your spoon is near enough to one spoon to be a spoon. Note that you are basically looking on the spoon as a valid spoon, not because of how big it is, but because it performs a certain job using certain characteristics. This is no bad thing, and why engineers are cooler than scientists.

    It's basically a one-headed brahmin.
  12. GD I don't know what experience you have, but I have a modicum of experience, having interviewed at length three militia members and read reams of their (incredibly tedious) pamphlets and websites.* I don't propose to go hunting through it again for quotes unless I'm getting paid. But they're constantly banging on about the United Nations, the Zionist Occupation Government, and homosexuals in high office. It's part and parceel of the grand conspiracy mentality. The fact that they never meet foriegners or knowingly meet homosexuals isn't an obstacle to this mentality. It's a positive leg up. I accept your point about the political aspirations being non-fascist. but only on the grounds that they are non-collectivist. *Why are extremists incapable of writing properly? If you ever find your hatred of Al Qaeda flagging then just sit down with some of their propaganda for four hours.
  13. You're just describing Laozi.
  14. Hah! I bloody knew it! Vindicated after ten years! *Runs off to tell former colleagues*
  15. I think there's one crawling up your shoulder right now. EDIT: what the hell is the deal with the second puzzle? I've matched a couple of symbol sets. Did I miss some clue in the initial setup?
  16. Cowboy Junkies - Sweet Jane Pretty fine, but not quite as awesome as the live mash the Two Nice Girls did.
  17. Azarkon, I make a definite distinction between right wing politics, and people who teach their kids that Adolph HItler lives in their heart. Incidentally I read that and thought "Aaaw... isn't that cute... HEY! Waitaminute!" GD I think you're being disingenuous about the militias. While they often talk about gun control, my experience with militia members seemed to indicate they were worried about the Federal government because of things like foreigners and homosexuals. There was also the fascist emphasis on masculinity for its own sake, and the drinking of lager . Laozi you make an interesting point about collective action. I'm not going to argue we should go about lynching anybody under any circumstances, but there's a definite tendency to look the other way. I used to live in a fairly well to do area and noticed some kids arsing about with harassing asian stores and nearly walked into a fat kid making a Nazi salute at some black people. I was torn between an instant desire to punch him, and a realisation that he was a total fool and in some ways didn't deserve to get punched (he was also a kid, obviously). Anyway, as well as wanting to be better educated in general it did occur to me that it may be only a matter of time before we see a resurgence in violence from this quarter. Perceived successes of Al Qaeda have made other extremist groups more violent, for example 'animal rights' people.
  18. I'm always surprised by the level of experience and reading on the forum, and it occurred to me that there might be people here with knowledge of neo-fascists. That is white supremacists typically. I don't know much about these people beyond their associates in the militias of the USA. Ring any bells?
  19. *singing* ...Right in der fuhrer's face!!!!!!"

Anne Frank fanfic? You mean like her developing special mutant powers and kicking the nazis?

I despise Harry Potter and everything it represents.
  22. If you do I'd be interested to see how much of Fort Apache they used in Bringing Out the Dead. Meaning no disrespect to the latter.
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Police_Tapes Apparently this ground-breaking documentary influenced both Hill Street Blues and the film Fort Apache: the Bronx. The latter being one of my favourite ever films.
  24. I'd rather work on the production team than play the game. Isn't that sad?
