    LOL, if you've only ever been loved by Army brats, then no wonder you feel weird. Obviously, "army" is a bit different here in a conscript system, but does probably fairly universally represent at least a home with emphasised traditional gender roles and a high value placed on education. They've been extremely fit girly girls with a strong drive and ambition. For your safety: in the UK they are just plain nuts.

    Given that Forbes just voted him most powerful man, and also given that Forbes is a magazine for... I've no idea... *searches* ...The kind of high quality publication which has con-ads for pensions on its website. I don't see why I should have anything but contempt for an analysis that simply says "Oh but they've been doing OK despite having none of the necessaries for success. So that'll continue indefinitely." It is a grave error to brand contempt for Putin as distaste, rather than sound judgement regarding a system of government that is little more than asset stripping wrapped in a rather boring flag.

    I'm pretty sure that if you tracked down, apprehended, and handed over Ayman al-Zawahiri and said you did it to get more New Vegas, that the boys would make it happen. Just a suggestion. Actually I just checked. The reward is $25 MILLION DOLLARS. You could just pay the company to make you some more. Just for you. And probably have enough spare change to buy takeout while you played it. So there you go. Problem solved.

    Ugh, I ... did not know that, over there. A more passively similar vein in this country, when I was a kid, except the momo scripture race reference was changed from "white and delightsome" to "light and delightsome." They hated D&D because it encouraged imagination, which of course leads to the awareness jesus actually doesn't want ten percent of your personal income, monthly, on time. Wait, what?

I was also once told by Duncan Anderson (lecturer at Sandhurst) that the Maori offered ammunition to a besieged British force, as a gesture of honourable - if murderous - intentions. EDIT: I've never been able to trace a source for this. If anyone finds it, can they let me know? FURTHER EDIT: GD, Agiel and Monte should take note on that linked page. The Maori fortifications were bloody clever, and years ahead of Westerners in constructing some of the best possible fortifications against firearms.

    Its weird Walsie because I became active on these forums one year ago and you weren't posting a lot the first few months as far as I remember? Now it would be incongruous if I didn't see your interesting perspective on a daily basis I was working for a client ...and there is an historic correlation between my mental state and my employment by that client. I would not think it wise to speculate on the nature of that correlation. I'm still trying to get on an even keel just now. But *shrugs* you have to keep going. I think above all, and no matter how down you feel, you have to keep faith with yourself. Recognise your flaws, but always strike OUTwards.

    I've only recently come to terms with the fact that I'd been having depressive episodes - for obvious reasons, if anyone's been following the last few years. The fun thing I noticed about depression is that it makes you expect bad things, and then because you're in lockdown, bad things happen. It's like some sort of genius psychological state. Designed by an arse.
