Is there a game where a myth isn't slaughtered? In any case, plenty of Viking blood in the UK, so maybe they are claiming partial ownership.

So, any plans for another NWN2 addon?
Girias_Solo replied to Girias_Solo's topic in Computer and Console
Oh, I agree. I would prefer a whole, full length, new story starting from Level 1. However, I cannot see any game going off the bat and going as high as level 30, unless there is another expansion involved. And I am not sure if they can push NWN2 for that many years the way the industry is these days. Back in the Goldbox days, sure. But these days teh graphix must be improved... So I thought they could push further into the storyline with some of these 'Further adventures' that are talked about. Someone of that level wouldn't be allowed to sit around farming after all. They would become a target from someone, and there is a big continent and plenty of different planes to be travelled... Please make a full length game with the NWN2 system, definately, but if this cannot happen.... -
Just finished Mask of the Betrayer. Very sweet experience, well done. I am hoping that you guys have another 10 levels up your sleeves, any chance of this perhaps? I won't complain if you make a longer expansion, but anything that carries things on would be nice.

Maybe Sawyer could work away on this game instead of the NWN2 mod he is cranking out.... Yeah I know, pigs might fly...

Real Breaking News: Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer

Isn't there some deadly desert that would have to be crossed to get to rasheman? -
Agreed. Nethergate is definately one of the better games. Avernum 2 and 3 are much better than 1. I prefer the Exiles though. Avernum 4 is ok. The Geneforge games are also pretty good. What makes a good RPG for you? Specifically.

Arx is ok. Especially in a world of **** RPG's. Nobody said Spiderweb, so thats done. Apart from that, nobody else is making the type of RPG's I enjoy the most anymore. These new realtime games can be ok now and again, but they are not my first choice.

Wheres teh grapfix!!!!??!! Any idea how the players choices from the campaign will be taken into account? -
Fallout manual Not sure if anyone remembers 'Knights of Legend' but it had a really great manual. Origin really put the effort in back before the Evil Empire took over. Arcanum's manual was nice. I enjoyed the way it was written in that urbane, Victorian type way.

What is the worst game you ever bought?
Girias_Solo replied to Bokishi's topic in Computer and Console
Avalon Hill's Diplomacy. Horrible horrible version of a fun boardgame. Cannot think of many more, I usually take far too much time before buying any game to really get a total dud. -
Hopefully Feargus will get Obsidian to create their own Post Apocalypse world and let Avellone run with it. Much better than letting the Necromancers have another go at Fallout's corpse. Or maybe Wasteland can be picked up for a song? Avellone and Sawyer have more than enough ability to create a new Post apoc world without it being silly surely. Time to see what Obsidian can do from the drawing board to the end product. With their own license.
-
Who says he doesn't like them? You? He said he gave up on them making a brilliant game, not gave up on them making a game that he still enjoys. Not to mention its healthier for Obsidian having some sane critics around than all hand clapping fanboys fawning over their every move

'The Role we don't play' Opinion piece from the Codex
Girias_Solo replied to Girias_Solo's topic in Computer and Console
Well, if you take NWN2 as an example, the player would have the power to either heal, or resurrect that chick companion tho dies at her uncle's hands. This would effectively change the storyline from then on. Player freedom, though within the narrative. Best if both worlds for almost everyone here. This does take extra coding on the part of developers, but its all a juggling act of what aspects of games are most important to the RPG player. -
'The Role we don't play' Opinion piece from the Codex
Girias_Solo replied to Girias_Solo's topic in Computer and Console
Thats the conclusion I came to (More Roleplaying, less on story) as well. Thats why I didn't understand where you were coming from at first. Got it now. Hmm, the general theme I took away from this part was actually that the player should be given more discretion in choices, instead of having a 'movie' forced upon them and thus having a forced action. For example if a something happens to someone during a movie or cutscene, and the player is at hand with an item or power that can change the outcome of this movie/cutscene, it tends to focus less on roleplaying and choice and more on forcing the player into a situation regardless of what is at hand. The movie referances that he put here are supposed to outline the differences between the mediums of gaming and film, though I agree that he only briefly sketches on this here. Still, I believe his ultimate argument to be sound. -
'The Role we don't play' Opinion piece from the Codex
Girias_Solo replied to Girias_Solo's topic in Computer and Console
Im afraid I didn't see that part Joseph. Perhaps you could copy and paste? Volly, I agree with what you say in regards to older RPG's, though I would add that Wasteland clearly belongs in the 'Roleplaying' inbox here. Many of the quests could be completed in different ways, with outcomes ingame depending on the players actions. But yes, many of the old RPG's are dungeon crawlers. Don't forget that the writer is talking about the direction where RPG's should be going, not talking about heading back to. -

A searching critique of profound eloquence. I especially like the way you went into the reasons you disagreed with the article, and how you then tell which direction RPG's should be heading. -

Don't waste your money. The combat is terribly balanced, and the game, questwise, runs on rails. Its like an evil, crushed up, retarded version of Fallout. Lameout might be the best name for it. The main character (The game starts out with two people in the party, a guy and a girl) has some EXTREME things to say, though basicly you only get to choose now and again in dialogue. The main character usually just says what he wants and you follow. Still, if your desperate enough for a badly done old school RPG, I guess you could do worse. Bargain bucket material in times of RPG drought only....which is kinda now I guess -
That looks....inspiring Still, it has teh grafix

Too many WW2 shooters and twitch RTS games, yes. A few new nice hardcore wargames from Matrix and others. Hmm, how many WW2 RPG's? Could it be something new?
