  1. It's a credit to PoE that I can't really think of any classes I'd like to add: with the current selection, and the multi-class system, there are few character types I want to play but cannot. Perhaps a class emulating great luck (Blessed, Fortuante, Destined, or the like) that had poor stats and combat abilities but had many active and passive abilities that affected rolls - except, functionally, that would be much like a priest or wizard who specialised in buff and debuff spells. I like the idea of an awakened soul who has mastered past lives, tapping into their power to effectively switch between classes with significant penalties, but that doesn't really work with the established rules of Awakening and would be very difficult to balance. I also like your jester idea the best. The others, I think, could be handled with abilities for other classes (especially duelist - the one-on-one "phase out" ability would be game-breaking against mages and certain types of boss battle) but the jester is truly different and could make for a very interesting companion.
  2. That's the dumbest idea in the history of dumb ideas maybe ever. Those are the kind of ideas that come up when you allow empathy based solution before common sense solutions. Well, the idea probably wouldn't work, unless either solar panels are much more efficient or cooling systems are much less energy intensive than I believe either to be. Even so, there's a difference between an impractical idea and one that is dumb. "Common sense" too often means restricting yourself to what you expect to work, without examining why you expect it to work (and so how we could make something else work).
  3. Assuming the game is fully updated (there was a problem like this that was fixed in the first patch) another common cause of this problem is antivirus or security programs. If you have any, check their various permission settings or try temporarily disabling them.
  4. I backed it on Kickstarter, because I wanted to be sure it got made (perhaps even with extra features), but if you haven't already done that I don't see any reason to pre-order. It's hard to tell how good a game will be until it's actually released, and the only benefit would be a few pointless items, which I wouldn't say justifies the increased risk of an unnecessary expenditure.
  5. I kind of like the idea of switching from a non-godlike race to Death godlike, to represent your new connection to Berath, but everyone else's reaction suggests that didn't happen. I hope so too! About New playable types would be awesome! Some gods for me are more inteteresting to be connected with than other (whose godlike already represented in the game). I'm confused as to why you asked permission to do something in a video game It's not exactly permission! It's just pretty to know, that your choice could be predicted by lore authors.
  6. There are quite a few godlikes that exist in world but aren't playable: we've already got avian (Pallegina, Hylea connected), marine (or whatever it is: Tekehu, Ondra connected), and now ending. If there are future games, it would be cool to play as one of them (and it wouldn't be too much work: most reactions to godlike don't vary based on subtype, and I've yet to find any affected by "base race"). What I really want to see, though, are godlike connected to Abydon or to Wael.
  7. I was hoping they would release it in August, as they said they would, because that will be exactly when I'm looking for a new RPG (to tide me over until the Deadfire DLC is released). Well, better a late game than an unfinished one. I'm still excited, though, so now I just need to find a game that will keep me engaged for two months but not for longer that that. I think this will be the first time I play a computer RPG based on a system that I've used on the tabletop. I'm curious to see if this will affect the way I play.
  8. Honestly, right now, it's the DLC for Deadfire. It's coming out over such a short time frame that I don't feel like I can start playing it again until they're all released. Fortunately, I've got plenty to keep me going until then! I've noticed a couple people mention Dragon Age IV. Has this been confirmed or is that just hopeful speculation?
  9. A lot of people seem to have had this problem for a lot of different reasons, some of which weren't fixed by the patch. (In my case, it turned out that a security program was preventing the game from working.) Unfortunately, the result of multiple threads on the same topic is that it can be hard to find advice that actually works. Here's the longest thread on the subject I've come across. Here's another one that offers a few different solutions. I hope that one of those will help.
  10. It does seem that a security program that came pre-installed on my PC was interfering with permissions. Closing it (which I didn't even know I could do) and uninstalling my anti-virus software (which sounds extreme but was probably necessary anyway, for other reasons) rendered all my previous saves visible. They became invisible again afterwards when my Steam synced the saves but that might just be because the program re-opened. I'm cautiously optimistic. In case it is relevant, the security program was called ByteFence and the anti-virus software was Mcaffee LiveSafe. Here's my output log: output_log.txt Where is the DxDiag so I can add that?
  11. To eliminate one other potential source of your problems, and if you've already examined this please forgive me for asking the obvious question: Do you have any software running that interferes with permissions? A typical culprit would be an anti-virus program, and you can test this by disabling it while starting the game and trying to load, then enabling it again. That does leave a window of vulnerability, but it is a simple way to test whether a given program is the culprit. If you do have such a program running that is actively blocking POE's permissions to access the files, this specific information about which program does it information that the developers will want to know. Of course, if might be something else that is to blame, but whenever "saved information in a game doesn't show up for loading (but the data is still there on my hard drive)" shows up when discussing games, other software blocking permission to access the files is one of the most obvious things to test for and the test to identify which software it is can only be conducted by those suffering the problem, not the development team who are otherwise left guessing. Thanks. It might seem obvious to you but I'm technologically clueless, so I appreciate the suggestion. I'll give it a try.
  12. UPDATE: The new patch does say it solves a permission issue which prevented some players from loading saves. Unfortunately, it didn't help me.
  13. Several other threads, actually, but to be fair there are a lot of bugs in any new game (especially one of this size). It doesn't help that there tend to be multiple threads for each issue, which makes it harder for the developers to find new issues. I've just started following every thread I can find on the subject so that, when someone finally solves the problem, I'll hear about it ASAP. I'm really excited to play this game but I can't if I have to restart every time I launch it. Have they ever acknowledged one of them? Or said if they plan to fix it? They acknowledged one and offered advice (which didn't help me). No-one has ever told me that the developers intend to fix the problem. In one of the other threads, however, someone says that the newest patch has fixed a similar problem they experienced.

  15. I planned to to replay with the same character as in the first game but his racial bonus (Wellspring of Life) is different, so are the effects of the backgrounds (thanks to the new skill system), and the possibility of multi-classing offers so many new options (there are at least six combinations that I'm really excited about). That's enough changes to justify a new character, right?
