  1. Securom trashing your optical drives maybe? Or did you install any mobo-drivers lately? (some via drivers once were known to sometimes cause trouble) Otoh, I never had to install drivers for my drives... Firmware for the burner, yes, but drivers?
  2. Yes it could have something to do with these settings. If the jumpers on the hdds are set, the master one has to be put at the end connector, the slave at the middle. There are really, really inexpensive DVD drives with SATA-connections.
  3. what? Gotta love this conversation! Went fiddling around with our robot today and found out it's easier to make it walk backwards... Now I really want to try and finally implement our ideas of more interesting gaits, with passive phases for some legs or first and mainly just alternating phases. I want to see it gallop, and bound, and walk carefully, leg by leg. This evening was spent trying to deal with depressions (not mine though, but still... *sigh*) and then some SQL/C#-timerecording application.
  4. The math isn't difficult (just look at the formula) - but knowing what applies to the kind of radar of this kind of aircraft is commendable
  5. Why the hell would it only be foreigners who do this? Foreigner is a meaningless word to use on the Internet anyway... Walsingham probably remembers what it means that I'm not going to write my thoughts about this human behaviour
  6. Wait until some company comes up with the recession as an excuse for even more schemes to control their apparently mindless customers DRMS with constant online validation, secret driver installation and limited number of installations are just the beginning.
  7. In fact, any sweeper / driver cleaner... programs are not recommended. A normal uninstal for the driver works just fine. Who's LF by the way? I do have an ATI card, but no KOTOR currently installed, so I'm not much help on the real issue here, but I can still guess what can solve it The most recent driver is 8.10, but seeing your graphics card, you'd probably need the special AGP-Hotfix. See here for more details: Link to AMD's Customer Care. It states that after 8.2 it's safe to use the normal Catalysts again for your graphics card.
  8. there's now a smilie for this, you know?
  9. Sirenia - A mental symphony
  10. Rubicon - Rivers (whole CD 'What starts, ends', currently @second last song)
  11. Oh yes, how long have I been waiting to have my own radiation source in the backyard! It'll produce all kinds of interestingly mutated specimen for the avid hobby insect researcher as a free sideeffect! Hoorray :D
  12. Not really - benchmarks as well as other indicators (pixed fill rate, bandwidth, etc.) show them to be behind top-end NVIDIA mobile cards. 4xxx series might correct that, but hopefully it won't turn into vaporware. Remember that the 3850/3870 have been released many months ago, but they were basically vaporware until a couple of weeks ago - no laptops were available that had them. Even now, only very few laptops have them. Given that, who knows how long it will take for the 48xx series to actually appear in notebooks. Hopefully, it will be faster than the 38xx series. What top-end cards? The 9800m gtx et al? Sure! 9600m GT or less? Certainly not However, all of the higher end mobile graphics cards are actually not good for the whole notebook-idea of portability etc., as they simply use so much power they can't run at full speed for very long when the notebook isn't connected to a wall socket... So yes, they aren't widely used.
  13. Let's hope it'll stay good
  14. In terms of volume, they are leading for laptops (if you count the cr**** Intel integrated graphics out), but they're giving way, not least because of the high faliure rate caused by low quality soldering material (?). In terms of speed, the 3850/3870 are more than just as fast as their counterparts, and 4xxx-series are coming up.
  15. @Laputa. "no va" (Spanish) = doesn't go - although it's pronounced differently from "nova". Still an example of why it's worth investigating how some word sounds like in an other language.
  16. the german accent sounds very, very bad indeed to my poor ears, almost as bad as the swiss... I think it's a very good idea to ask around first, to avoid ending up with something like the Mitsubishi Pajero, Ford Nova etc.
  17. Fields of the Nephilim - Psychonaut (live, from Earth Inferno) Awesomeawesomeawesome
  18. Afair, TOB came out with the 3rd edition already having been published. So why not another addon on an older franchise, when it will probably still generate some licensing money? But actually, I also think that Storm of Zehir will be the last addon to NWN2.
  19. Poop? I always thought they puked Anyway, the whole ship is quite organic. You can shoot the puking holes btw.
  20. Oh yes, this was great The jokes in this series are really good, while they can make the viewer take it a lot less serious - otoh, which sci fi series where the main party always ends up smuggling cows or dueling with swords or saving a "witch" from being burnt can take itself serious?
  21. Prey. With headphones and an X-Fi preferrably. Kind of innovative while being traditional enough not to feel lost.
  22. Oh, ic Last Rites - Full Circle
  23. Not a movie, but watching Firefly episodes. They're good. Real good. A shame a) it's not continued b) they (so far, I'm at episode 5) have only used country music instead of doin' it spaghetti western style.
  24. Good to hear you know'em. I still don't know what to make of them Saints of Eden - Price Ya Gotta Pay
  25. Saints of Eden - Shameless
