Now that I've figured out how to play New Game+ in Dying Light, I'm realizing I don't really want to. I finished all the sidequests my first time through, and the main quest story isn't nearly interesting enough to want to play through a second time -- especially when I know what kind of awful boss fights are in store for me. I just don't know what to play now. None of the games released within the past couple of months appeal to me. Maybe I'll hibernate until The Witcher 3 is released.

Finally figured out how to start New Game+ in Dying Light. Way harder than it needed to be.

Go to Play Campaign. Highlight your 100% game and press F. Why would they do it this way I don't know. The decision was probably made by the same person who thought those stupid boss fights were a good idea.

The load screen doesn't seem to have an option to "load" anything. It gives me "continue", "start a new campaign", "be the zombie", and then a couple of other things that are option/credits/stats related.

May can't get here fast enough. No more delays!

Is there supposed to be a New Game+ ? I just continued and kept doing challenges, side missions (which are, for the most part, much better than the main story missions anyway), and just parkouring around Harran. I'd read on the internet there was. Apparently you can play through the story again, but with all your weapons/inventory you've amassed, and with tougher zombies. But I can't see a way to do it.

I can't seem to find New Game+ in the menu after I beat Dying Light's main story. The only options seem to be "continue" and the option to start a new campaign.

Thoughts on Knights of the Old Republic
GhostofAnakin replied to Althernai's topic in Computer and Console
KOTOR -- the game that got me into the cRPG genre in the first place. It satisfied my Star Wars fanboy need for a new game at the time, and despite all its faults, remains one of my favorite games of all time. I wish they'd made KOTOR3 instead of a]that MMO version and b]ruining the characters in Karpshyshyn's (sp) book. -
I'd just like to be able to show off all the cool weapons I've got. I never got to do that in any of the boss fights.

What a horrible ending to Dying Light. Apparently the developers were so enamored of their own climbing mechanics that they felt the need to make an entire final level dedicated to it. And of course you couldn't even use the one thing that made climbing in the game less tedious -- the grappling hook. And, just like with the previous "boss fights", the weapons/ammunition you collected throughout the game was rendered useless because you couldn't even use it.

The main quest in Dying Light has just continued to go down the drain. It's just one long string of Rais making my character look like a chump (with me being unable to do anything about it because it's scripted this way).

Seriously, what is it with Dying Light's developers and those stupid boss fights? I just fought Tahir, and that was worse than the Pit fight. Why do they insist on thinking it's a good idea for players to build up their characters and find/buy/craft all this awesome gear, only to then have them fight boss fights with zero equipment other than a rusty weapon that's weaker than what I had when I was about 20 levels weaker? I'm coming to the realization that I hate 90% of the boss fights in games nowadays because of these cheap, stupid tactics to make things more "challenging".

Eagles are a real pain in the ass in Far Cry 4. It's like developers include features that add nothing more than to annoy the player.

Using those exploding firecracker bombs in Dying Light is fun. Climb to a high place, watch dozens of zombies shamble over to you, then drop one into their midst. Easy XP.
-
Mostly single player. I don't mind the occasional MP, but it depends on the game. Just stop ruining my single player games by adding multiplayer features that end up making both look less than stellar.

Weird. I was able to complete two sidequests in Dying Light during the day that sounded like they had to be done at night. One said I had to plant explosives in the dark -- apparently it just meant in a dark tunnel, not dark as in night. The other one was ridiculously easy because I could climb the bridge during the day to retrieve light bulbs, even though the quest-giver said it's best to do at night to know which bulbs to take (easy enough -- I took some electrical damage for picking the "bad" bulbs, but I had a tonne of medkits so I just healed up after every two bad picks).

Dying light is another example of my pet peeve about multiplayer co-op. It just plain sucks if you are not playing it in multiplayer co-op or the 'be the zombie' mode. Everything is pointless MMO repetition and the story is laughable. Is there some rule that says everything has to suck if a game has a multiplayer co-op element. It really leaves me with low hopes for ME4. Apparently it's going to be one of those as well. So far (not finished the main story yet), I don't think Dying Light is any better or worse than what you get in the other "open world" games like Far Cry and the like. A bunch of fetch quests and a kind of wacky story, with a bunch of open world exploration. Now, if you feel games like Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, etc. suffer from the same issues, that's a different story.

I'm not really sure what the point of the "gold" weapons are in Dying Light. The melee weapons, at least, allow for more upgrade slots. But the guns don't have upgrade slots, and their damage/accuracy aren't any better than the regular "blue" guns of the same type.

Cheesy way to earn a lot of survivor points in Dying Light without even doing anything: sleep until night time, then hop just outside the fence of whatever safehouse you're at and go do something else for 10 to 15 minutes. When you come back, night will be over and you (likely) won't have been attacked by anything.

A couple of sidequests I can't seem to complete in Dying Light: the one where you plant a bomb in a tunnel at night, and the one where you turn on a generator thing at night. In both cases, it's because there's just too many zombies around the area. In the case of the bomb planting mission, there's like 4 or 5 Volatiles. I also can't complete the quest with the grappling hooks across the bridge because I suck with the grappling hook. I keep falling to my death.

I hated Dead Island and I still love Dying Light. It's way better than Dead Island, it's what Dead Island should have been, and even with the annoyances of the pit battle and the lame as hell final boss QTE battle, I still loved the game and continue to play it occasionally to do side quests, challenges, and just parkour around Harran and slice heads off. As long as first person parkour isn't a turn off for you, you will love Dying Light if you loved Dead Island. Pro-tip: Get the dropkick skill as soon as possible. It's hilarious. The dropkick is hilarious when it works. When I time it wrong, my guy jumps up into the air only to deliver a little girl kick that only stumbles the zombie.

Hmm. I unlocked every safe zone shown on my map, but I didn't get the trophy for doing so on my PS4. On a different note: I hate those "protect" quests. The person you're trying to protect dies so friggin' easily. They'll approach a group of 10 or more zombies, so it's difficult to keep them off the person while I kill each of them in turn. I've failed to keep alive the person I'm protecting all three times I attempted it.

I actually like the setting the bomb mission, I liked the intensity and panic the time constraints added to it. The pit, though, I hated. Outside of the horrifically disappointing final boss fight, the pit was the most angry and frustrated Dying Light made me in the entire game. The Pit was annoying, but more so because of those stupid running zombies. The actual "boss fight" was relatively easy if it weren't for those running things buzzing around.

Dying Light went from fun open world missions to on-rails and no moment to pause while being forced to play a continuous mission for over an hour straight in the blink of an eye. Setting the bomb + Rescue/Pit area was really bugging me tonight. Especially the pit, since my entire character was built around his arsenal and bombs. More than that, I wanted to quit an hour into that mission but it just kept going and didn't seem there was a moment I could quit without having to start all the way from the beginning of the mission again.

Gah. They're actually forcing me to play at night in Dying Light. I hate Volatiles. Especially when there's more than one.
