The difficulty curve between the vast majority of the battles and the battles against the "name" characters is ridiculous in AC Odyssey. I'm getting to the point where I'm not going to even bother with these fights against Medusa and Co. because they're just bullet sponges and they take so much health off you with one hit. It's not even difficult, per se, to injure her. Just the fact she's got so much health that I spend 15 minutes running around trying to avoid her hitting me once as I take 0.000001% of her health with each power shot. What bugs me most is I'm at a level where I should feel as though I'm like the most powerful person in the world. Instead, because the difficulty is so high, I feel like a Level 1 character that accidentally stumbled upon a Level 100 enemy.

That kotaku article is pretty damning on the lack of leadership at BioWare. Forget the exact dates, but it was something like Anthem was in pre-production way up until like 2017-2018, and the finished produce they released was basically cobbled together over a 12-16 month period. BioWare of old is truly dead. RIP.

Finished the main story, as well as unveiled and confronted all the Cultists in AC Odyssey. Now I'm debating whether or not to get the DLC/expansion episodes.

Oh, one thing I forgot to touch on that I think it TERRIBLE in AC Odyssey is the "lock on to enemy" function when you try and target a different enemy when fighting groups. It's an absolute pain to target a specific enemy when you have a bunch clustered around each other. Especially in those "conquest battle" things where you have to target the commanders/polemarches and there are 5 other soldiers around them, the targeting and switching target system they went with is horrible.

Finished off another one of the Cultist branches in AC Odyssey. Kind of weird that the "main boss" of that branch was revealed before one of his subordinates. The subordinate's identity was only revealed in a quest AFTER the main boss had already revealed himself. Kind of anticlimactic in terms of gathering clues from the various members of that branch in order to figure out who the boss of that branch is.

I found it pretty early and used it as my alternate weapon for the rest of the game. I believe you have to kill an alpha lion and its lioness horde to get to it, but it was a breeze because there are pillars you can climb up onto and just shoot arrows down at them as they circle you unable to get to you.

More AC Odyssey. The Staff of Poseidon is basically a cheat code for exploring underwater. Would have made all those other under water areas so much easier if I'd waited to finish them until after I'd found the staff. One of the cult clues, which can be found in a wreck in the middle of the ocean, was a breeze because I didn't have to worry about surfacing for air while I searched and fought off sharks.

Things I liked about AC Odyssey: 1-Player leveling up and customization 2-"Unveiling the cultists" sub-plot/game mechanic 3-Main story is okay by AC standards 4-I find the main character well acted (Kassandra -- haven't played Alexios). 5-Open world is fun to explore and a good time waster 6-Finding and hunting mercenaries Things I'm not that happy with: 1-The above mentioned side quests that don't seem to have much story to them. 2-The conquest battles have no real impact/effect on the overall story 3-Almost too many places to visit with very little side content to fill it up 4-Bounty system where the person who "sees" you commit the crime is nowhere near the scene of the crime. How the heck did he even spot me when he's about 1000 km away?

I think one of the problems I'm finding with AC Odyssey is a lot of the sidequests seem just tacked on. Before, the sidequests might not have linked to the main quest, but they sort of fleshed out the region you got them in. You sort of got an idea of what's going on there. AC Oddyssey's got a lot of sidequests that just seem more like filler than fleshing out the region.

I can't seem to find an armor set that I like in AC Odyssey. There are some that look okay, but none that make me go, "Oh my, this THIS is looks bad ass".

It's probably my favorite AC game, but that might have a lot to do with me enjoying the direction they went in (ie. incorporating leveling up skills and stuff).

Riding somewhere on horseback when you have to follow an NPC is both hilarious and immersion breaking since a]if they get too far ahead of you you can't hear what they're saying and b]they just run over townsfolk who are in their way and don't even react to it. Mom: "Come on, Kassandra. Ride with me while we chat" *Proceeds to gallop ahead to a distance where dialogue is indecipherable while mowing down a dozen people standing on the path* Mom: "Don't you agree?" Kassandra: "No clue what you said. I was too buy fighting the guards who attacked me after your wanton slaughter"

Unveiling who the Cultists are in AC Odyssey is much more satisfying than actually fighting them since most can be one-shot killed with either a bow shot to the head or that assasination ability that transports you across the map to them. A little worried about the Delian League Cultist branch. I've killed 3 of them, but so far only 2 clues have popped up about their leaders. Hopefully that's not a bug because the one who didn't drop a clue was killed waaaaaay back.

I gotta admit, I'm much more forgiving of these types of issues if the game has a great story and sidequest design. For instance, especially in RPGs, combat ranks way down on my list of me caring if it's good or not. It's probably why I'm so forgiving of the Witcher 3's faults. The things it did well are the things I look for most in RPGs.

I'm noticing that later on, AC: Odyssey's big map seems rather devoid of quests. Unless there's a story mission in an area, there doesn't seem to be any sort of sidequests (other than the bounties) in that area. I've got like half the continent to go and I'm not seeing any quests pop up each time I enter a new area. Might have to just finish off the main story at this point.

Pretty sure you can remove the "?" from the map so you can just explore without knowing ahead of time that there's going to be something of interest in a region you're entering.

That one haunted house mission keeps me from playing through again. Yes, I'm that much of a wussy. -

I believe the date was March. Hopefully it's done by then and doesn't need to be pushed back. -
Re-united with mommy dearest in AC: Odyssey. One of the "chapters" was incredibly short after what seemed like a pretty long previous chapter.

Q1 2020 would be, what, anywhere from January to about April or May? -
Gah! Me being a good person, I opted to save a baby instead of rushing off to finish off one of the Cultists. Now I can't find them on my map. I'm sure they'll eventually turn up, but my thirst for revenge is testing my patience.

I use a lot of poison in my assassinations, so the armor set that gives a lot of poison damage is one I'm currently wearing. Everything is leveled up to the same level except the "pants" and boots because of the ridiculous materials requirements. Cash is no problem, and really the wood/rocks are fine. It's usually the damn soft leathers that I run out of.

One minor annoyance with AC: Odyssey's gear upgrading system -- it takes way, way too much material to upgrade a full set of armor. By the time I have enough material to upgrade the last item in a set, I've already leveled up multiple times so the first item I'd upgraded is now about 7 or 8 levels below. I guess this was where they hoped the micro-transations would entice players, but there's no chance I'm buying any of that. Instead, they're making me grind by finding trees and rocks to "loot" while walking around the map.
