Skepticisism aside, please do NOT have "ancestors" of famous or known Star Wars characters show up in your game. I don't want to see Han Solo's great, great, great (to whatever exponent) grandfather in there, called Ran Solo. I don't want to see Jebediah Skywalker. I don't want to see Dodo Fett. Make all new characters. It saves you having to worry about people being upset if you didn't capture what THEY believe these "ancestors" would be like. It also doesn't screw up any continuity issues.

A Rakata as one of your party members.

no. -
Master-Apprentice where one of the NPC's in your group becomes your apprentice would be cool. It would be great for replayability too, since you could take a different one on depending on your DS/LS alignment. I also like the idea someone posted about how someone you wronged or got on the bad side at the start of the game keeps pursuing you throughout the game. KOTOR1 could have done a bit better job of that with Calo Nord, or having Davik survive. Imagine him sending wave after wave of Bounty Hunter after you, increasing in difficulty as you progress thru the game.

Should there be prostitution in KotOR 2?

I figured you'd love it as long as the pimps aren't Jedi characters. -
About the Final duel and the "Sith Lords"
GhostofAnakin replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
To be honest, I thought Malak was plenty tough, in relation to the rest of the enemies you faced. Maybe compared to some other games, he wasn't tough at all, but in comparison to the other enemies you had to face in the game, he gave me the most challenge, mainly because he had (against me, anyways) the best ability to be immune from Force attacks. I agree about the music thing. I think that's what the problem was. Too many cutscenes to interupt the flow of the final battle, and the music didn't "pump the adrenaline" like it did in the movies during duels. I think that with improved music and improved cutscene dialogue/action, the actual difficulty of combat could be overlooked. What would have been cool is instead of Malak "running" from you and absorbing the energy from the dead Jedi, while you just stood there and basically watched him, the cutscene should have shown you and Malak dueling while he's talking, him backtracking slightly, but still parrying your thrusts, and then we see him push you back with a Force wave which buys him time to absorb the energy from the fallen Jedi. I think the cutscenes hurt the final battle because it seemed like you'd be in real time combat, then a cutscene hits and both of you stop fighting, then you are back in combat, then another cutscene and you both stop fighting. It would have been a lot more visually appealing if the two flowed into one another, where as I stated above, when it goes to cutscene, it actually shows a lightsaber duel continuing, rather than him speaking and apparently you decide to listen to him instead of cut him down. -
This seems like a rather big undertaking, especially when there's still various things you can't do with the models. Instead of trying to do so much (9 planets?), why not focus baby steps, such as 4 planets, and work on a good storyline. There's no need for a new combat engine, there's no need for playable swoop(pod) racing. What most people want is a new story, with new planets. I think IF you are indeed capable of doing that, then that's what you should concentrate on. I mean, it took Bioware, what, 2 YEARS to complete the game with 7 planets, and NO playable swoop racing, yet you intend to do something in 6 MONTHS with more planets, and a more integrated swoop racing feature?

Have you stated a PROJECTED completion date yet? I think a major problem is you keep telling us about all these features, but then follow it up with not knowing how long this will take. Obviously it might be difficult to come up with an exact date, since the people working on it are volunteers and sometimes "real life" creeps in. But if you actually have a game plan in place, then estimating when it should be done should be a given. Here's basically an analogy of what we (those who are skeptical) feel: You're promising to build us a house. You promise great features like a swimming pool in the back, huge bedrooms, crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling in the main foyer....but you don't tell us when the house will be done. Could you imagine how a buyer would react if a construction company said "actually, we're not sure when your house will be finished, but we plan to add all these features to it. so just bear with us!". Not giving an estimation of when it'll be completed is basically telling us you don't really have a good plan in place of what needs to be done, and estimates of how long these things will take. I think the best thing to do if you don't want anymore complaining or any more "insults" is: 1)Give a target date when you expect it to be done by or 2)Don't mention it again until you're far enough along that you can show real progress to the skeptics. Coming on the boards and posting every other day about such and such a feature, or such and such a design, but then not having anything to show for it just asks for flaming.

Obi-Wan came back as a spirit Jedi

Where did you hear this? I must've missed something. And I would vote no on this simply because there was no precedent set in the first KOTOR for such a change in character. Plus, they would have a hard time explaining how you, Bastila, Juhani, AND Jolee, AND the entire Jedi Council on Dantooine did not sense a single ounce of the Force in Mission when she was there. So within this context, I would say with near certainty that this is not going to happen. I don't think they're talking about KOTOR2. They're talking about their mod for KOTOR1.
-
I think you quoted the wrong person....I was agreeing with your point that it's very realistic to think Bastila can be killed off.
-
Why the big obsession among the "team members" about turning Mission into a Jedi? If it's that big a deal (and if the mod actually ever happens), why not just model a female Twi'lek after Mission and make her a Jedi, instead of transforming an already-known character who was a non-Jedi into one.
-
Here's my question: Is this mod going to actually ever be done (or even started, for that matter), or is this just an elaborate plot to keep our attentions until Obsidian releases KOTOR: TSL?
-
who the hell voted "yes"?
-
Eru, Out of curiosity, are you guys actually progressing yet? Last I read on here, even team members were having doubts because the lead guy seemed to be all over the place with ideas without really doing much. I *hope* this mod gets done, but I'm just curious whether it's any further along than it was a couple of weeks ago.

"Our focus is more content driven then technology
GhostofAnakin replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Electronics Boutique gives store credit, up to $25 worth. But I'm not sure if that's for EVERY game, or just newer and popular games. Ender, I'd take you up on your offer except I'm not a big fan of buying or selling over the internet. -
Would I like the option? Of course I would. I've never been "against" being able to play non-Jedi classes. Most of my objections to what Hades_One posts is the fact that he makes playing as a Jedi seem wrong. Obviously I'd want as many different options as possible if it'll add replay value. Hell, I'd play as a crippled old cook if it made my playing experience varied.

I have a crapload of PS2 games I want to get rid of, but I've never used ebay or anything before, so I don't know how to unload them for a decent return. -
Class Comparisons to movie characters
GhostofAnakin replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In both game review magazines I've seen, they compared the new Jedi/Sith prestige classes as follows: Jedi Watchman: Obi Wan Jedi Weapons Master: Mace Windu Jedi Master: Yoda Sith Lord: Emperor Sith Marauder: Darth Maul Sith Assassin: Mara Jade (pre-marriage to Luke) -
Well in Jedi Knight were also two paths and so what? You have clear chance to save Bastila which is your duty as jedi and it is most logic solution becouse of romance with her. Besides I think that such interesting character shouldn't be wasted. Bastila is the same class as for example Luke or Obi-Wan. Normal SW fan will not ignore her personality. Your arguments aren't worthy. Sorry but if you say such things, this means that you just don't like Bastila at all. While I agree with you that Bastila should be in KOTOR2, I'd say your logic is more flawed than the guy/gal's logic you dismissed as "unworthy". Bastila is NOT the equivalent of Luke. Obi-Wan, perhaps, but she's not KOTOR's equivalent of Luke. Revan was KOTOR's Luke. So because of that, she can be killed off without too much fanfare (such as Obi-Wan was, after he served his purpose). Although I'd like to say that I personally hope she DOES return for an encore in some capacity.

The evasiveness on the Bastila question, IMO, signifies two possible things: 1)Bastila is alive and is a major focal point for the story. 2)Bastila is dead and we won't see/hear about her in KOTOR2. Reasons? Well, if she's alive, but isn't really a big focal point, then she'd get a mention, since it wouldn't really spoil any big plot for them just to say "yeah, you bump into her and she gives you a couple of words of wisdom".

Tell that to the authors of the Rogue Squadron and Han Solo series of novels. Tell that to the WotC and West End Games who published many non-jedi source books for their respective RPGs. Then there you go. Go to the Rogue Squadron forums and post there all the time. I don't mean to be rude, I just don't understand why you CONSTANTLY post on a forum where they are making a game that apparently you hate. You CONSTANTLY repeat the same thing over and over and over and over (get my point?) without adding anything worthwhile to the discussion. You CONSTANTLY say how you hate the fact that KOTOR (and KOTOR2) are forcing the player to use Jedi, yet you stick around. I just don't get it. There are a bunch of video games that I hated, which is why you'd never see me rack up 1000 posts on their forums. If you hate the premise for the game, why stick around to complain about the exact same thing? Hell, if you deleted every post of yours that mentions wanting to play as non-Jedi, or the word munchkin, you'd have probably a total of 2 posts on here. -
I have no clue what you just said.
