Favorite KOTOR Character
Seth Tansill replied to Evilkinevil's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Jolee is just such a dude He manages to be a semi-righteous jedi without being irritating. Not to mention all those stories were really interesting. I really hope OE include a jolee-like character in Sith Lords, the thing I most regretted in KotOR was having to kill him because I went dark side -
The Secret of the Sith Lords
Seth Tansill replied to Seth Tansill's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
lol @ earmuffs. So true as well. I thought Ajunta Pall was great, in my opinion a continuation of him would be ok. Oh and I'm so sorry for spelling REDEMPTION wrong, I'll shoot myself next time. And he said that the secret of the sith lords was 'buried' somewhere, 'not here' - I think that the Star Map was not 'buried' as such. Also is a Star Map *really* all that significant (on its own) to be classed as a secret? Hmn, maybe I'm just making excuses for myself. What I think would be cool was if an ancient sith civilisation (the original sith species) was buried beneath the valley of the dark lords, at least some reference has been made to this in Jedi Academy, but then, that might be my imagination -
Yeh theres about 20 billion Star Wars games out there, all official

A possible stab at the storyline here, I'm thinking this might be a possibility Looking at KotOR1, I just thought about this, with your brief encounter with Ajunta Pall. If you are dark side, he comments upon what power you have, whether that power will destroy you as it had destroyed him. He then mentions about 'Our secret' or 'The secret of the Sith Lords' (or something to that effect - I might play through it again just to satisfy my point ) It's not the Star Map, because you say about that and he dismisses it. Therefore, is it possibility, with KotOR2 entitled 'Sith Lords', that we indeed unveil this secret that Ajunta Pall speaks of? 'Will you find it?' Ajunta Pall asks Revan. The disappearance of Revan at the beginning of KotOR2 may suggest Revan has gone to find that secret. Dark Side or Light Side. This plot opens similar oppurtunities for boths scenarios - Revan, the redempted jedi, falling to the dark side yet again uncovering the secret of the sith lords. Or Revan, the disgraced dark jedi lusting for power after the destruction of the star forge in the failed war fought by the sith against the republic. This has got my mind whizzing. It's a possibility, but then again, I might be wrong. :D

Haven't you guys already checked out the E3 demos? They show much better robes than in the original.

PC will always be ahead of the X-Box, for the simple reason of it being, more easily upgradable (the game, that is), the hardware being more capable and therefore better graphics, a keyboard and mouse *as standard*. The only advantage of an X-box and buying a copy of a game is that you know it will work, and you know what you will get as well in terms of performance. It does exactly what it says on the tin, basically.

will anything be added to deepen the combat?
Seth Tansill replied to Logain_Ablar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I threw 5 plasmas and god knows how many frag grenades to kil him. And I didnt make a habit of saving either, so I opted to use energy shields a lot (every few rounds actually) -
In what way would you suggest then? Puzzle based enemies i.e. trap an enemy then crush them with a machine or something?

KOTOR / KOTOR 2 is moddable after all
Seth Tansill replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It'll modify the game to the extent that you wont be able to play the original without reinstall. Not sure if I like that.. -
Who should make the leap to KotOR II?
Seth Tansill replied to Retnuh's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If Carth ever came back I'd like to see him running away from a brigade of sith soldiers and then being beaten after falling over... -
A nice wallpaper though! Oh, and I like the MotF. Looks preddy!

Thank Adria, shes the one who wrote it

Who should make the leap to KotOR II?
Seth Tansill replied to Retnuh's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
But we already know T3 and Hk47 are coming back?? Uh?! Canderous, because he's such a dude. I didn't like him on my first play through, but on the second (dark) playthrough he was a cool guy to have around. I felt justified in my evil-ness despite the options being pretty, well... OH and 'now this is MY kind of place' (salve quarters) hehehe... -
On the whole, I am an action gamer and I like a good cinematic feel to a game at the same time. I wouldn't have been drawn to KotOR if it were not for the immersiveness of the cinematography. I guess I got a little tired of the animations about half way through, but by then it didn't matter because I liked the storyline and sub-plots generally. I like the turn based system because it allows for the cinematic feel. I agree on the points that were made about the pauses in between... perhaps a little step back and flourish, or a sidestep of battle participants, or even occassionally an attack animation which is extended. Add these little gems now and again and it really makes the game something special. I know I liked to flourish out of combat... it was something I really wanted to see *in* combat, and I found myself using a variety of feats and attacks just for the sake of being immersed in the general scene of the game.

Becoming a jedi in the game is something which drives the storyline, I mean, you aren't going to play too many RPGs where your character is a nobody, are you? Anyway, playing as this outcast jedi mandalorian veteran seems quite intriguing, and it'll be interesting how the character develops. There's also the possibility of the new classes involved (prestige classes) in which you can specialise, I imagine this means you are not limited to play *like* a jedi, wield all the weapons you want and heavy armour, get non jedi specific feats etc etc. I think this may be a possibility. I think the idea of being a jedi is just the convenience of being able to drive the storyline.
-
Why are you playing star wars if you dont want to become a jedi??? Baffling. If you want a game where you want freedom to become what you want without becoming a jedi, play Star Wars Galaxies or something... anyway, I cant see how it hinders playing the game that much, since instead of the 'treat injury' skill you get force heal or drain. The whole point of KotOR is that it is story driven, and being a jedi is an essential part of the story, I'm afraid. Not surprising since the game is (Jedi) 'Knights of the Old Republic' battling Dark Jedi and Sith Lords...

Agreed. And Obsidion already have the engine developed so they just need to smooth out elements from the original engine and focus on the storyline, with plenty of feedback from the community on the actual gameplay issues.

all these previews suck, the best 1 was in egm. i mean, their just telling us the exact same thing. i mean, it seems that the people at gamespy and fanfic are saying the same thing with different words! Well, uhm, they *are* previewing the same product, what else do you expect?

There's also a first impressions site at kotor fanfic... http://www.kotorfanfic.com/

Force absorb (stops shots?). I would also like to see a force absorb ala Jk2 multiplayer, force absorb that takes from the attack and adds to your force pool (a bit like yoda absorbing Dooku's attack in Ep2). Battle Meditation is a new force power (but small scale, were not talking about Bastila's ability here), uhm, Force Rage for dark side maybe, with increased speed and damage and decreased infliction upon yourself. Mind trick would be pretty cool. Dunno :D

I liked the shadows in KotOR. When I looked at the centre one, I thought to myself... that pose and shape of head, hes gotta be badass... and Jolee did live up to my expectations :D Not sure about the 'pool' of NPCs you can choose from, I prefer characters chosen for you, for one it helps drive the story and perhaps brings in an element of fate??

Will KOTOR 2 have Revan in it?
Seth Tansill replied to sideshowbob's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Not all sequels have the same characters as the main protagonists. There are enough examples of films to show that. -
ROFL! Who voted terrible.

Will KOTOR 2 have Revan in it?
Seth Tansill replied to sideshowbob's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think it's good that you're not Revan. Also, I agree completely you're not gonna see him/her in the flesh. I imagine only the story will tell of Revan's fate, nothing more. But it will be significant. I see CG videos already... is it a vision? :D OH and did anyone notice in KOTOR1 if you spoke to Canderous and his war stories he referred to Revan as 'him' even if you played as a woman. Just a random question. -
I got it from Kashyyk... Never used it though, some crystals have *really* wierd effects in it.
