Like IWD2 and Diablo all you want; they are not story driven games - no matte rhow good you may think the IWD story is either. There's a reason why BIS themselves described it as a dungeon crawler. The combatd rives it; not the story. While games like BG or KOTOR may have pretty much the same amount of combat as IWD 9give or take); those games are obviously storyd riven as where the combat occurs due to the story. IWD's story is filler inbetween dunegons. Remember, he's also asking for games that have are dialogue heavy which neitehr IWD or Diablo have. I liked LH 'til I got to the sewers then i wa sbored out of my mind. Quit,a nd never looked back. Once again, try Arcanum! Awesome!

Without joinable npcs; BG2 is just abtter version of IWD with better quests and much more freedom and more role-playing. Not too mention a story that isn't just about Killing The Big Bad tm. (yeah, the story has that too; but the story isn't just limited to that either). I liked IWD1. It was a fun game; but it is nowhere near in the same league as the Bg series. Of course, i do agree that Bg does have pretty much as much combat as IWD. The difference, of course, is that Bg's combat is either highly avodiable (when youa re traveling) or it usually (wiyth some exemptiuons) about forward the plot. In essence, IWD's story while it's ok for a dungeonc rawl is there as filler inbetween dungeons.

First off, while you cna play 2 first and actually udnerstand the storyline it flows much better in order. Secondly, once you have fun with the extras provided by part 2 like graphics, faster speed, etc. you'll want to destroy BG1. "What's the basic story? Or is it a 'go around and do what you want' game? Oh, are there pre-made characters?" Don't want to spoil; but let's just say that the story is basically learning your character's past, and dealing with the fallout from that is part. At the start, you are an orphan lviing with your foster father and foster sister in Candlekeep,a Place of Great Learning. There are no pre made characetrs you play as the PC; but pre made charactrs do join your journey.

Huh? I never said KOTOR was better than BG. You just asked what does KOTOR do better than BG so I answered. "BG has multiple ways to complete quests. Deeper NPCs... questionable." Nowhere near KOTOR. Deeper npcs? Did you even play BG? Remember, this is BG1 we're disucssing; not BG2. BG2 is a tad better than KOTOR for npcs; but BG1 is not.

It's also not knew as NWN, and the IE games have the same exact basic combat system yet both NWN and the IE games have much better combat (well.. except for PST for some reason...) "Oh! Oh! Arcanum, BL, NWN, Bg series, PST, and FO series are my top 10 heavy dialogue story focused game. Whether you like each of these individual games; they all have what you seek for. NWN is definitely the weakest amongst them story wise though BL and PST duke it out for crappiest game play amongst them while Arcanum and BL duel for some of the most Annoying Little Things. P.S. I forgot to mention KOTOR series; but that should be a given on these baords. They are good stories focused games but their combat is the easiest combat I've seen. Only BL and PST comes close but even BL has some actual challenging battles (though, as I stated above, it's combat is poor). P.S.S. Anyone who thinks NWN is a Diablo clone needs help. All I have to ask is how can a game with actual dialogue skills and multiple ways to solve quests even be considered a clone of Diablo? BL, game play wsie, is much closer to Diablo than NWN can be since BL is full fledge RT combat while NWN is not. R00fles! That is all.
