"It's a team sport. Either you're a team player and you respect your fellows as they should respect you, or, quite frankly, you don't deserve to play the game at the professional level." Works both ways. Also, btw, most of TO's former teammates from SF and Philedelphia *do* respect him. "say that a receiver can carry a team is just plain ignorant." They can sure as heck make the difference, and can make a QB look better than they are. Why do you think Dallas went out, and paid big bucks for him? Remember, with TO, we aren't just talking about any 'ol reciever; but likely the best (if not top 3) recievers in the game. That's the elite of the elite. And, we'll see this when Dallas joins the Giants in the Play-Offs while Philedelphia sits at home crying.

"This is one of the stupidest things I've read. You know that this statement is false." Best way to judge a player's importance to a team is how much they play him. By benching him, the Caps are stating that they better with him off the ice. "It worked for Mark Messier. Even Moose credits it for being a decision that made him the player he became. Messier wasn't just benched though, he was dumped to the minors." Good for him. He's just playing the PC game. Mess became the player he became because he's damn talented just like Ovechkin is. Benching him is not going to make him better, or worse. "By your reasoning Volo the Caps should also let Ovechkin pick his linemates and decide what shifts he wants to play." Why not? The best players usually do. Just tonight, Jagr told the Rangers to give him more ice time. Guess what? He wans't punished... in fact, they agreed to his request because the Rangers know he's their best player and treat him as such. Since Alanshu brought up Mess, let's take a trip down memory lane... to 1993... Mess pretty much single handedly got Roger Nielsen fired as Rangers head coach... in 1994... they go on, and win the Cup... Coincidence? I think not. Bottom line is that teams that actually want to win treat their best players as their best players. This is why (inspite of tonight's dissapointment) the Rangers are assured a play-off spot while the Capitals who just two years did everything they could to sabatoge Jagr's career utterly suck. Coincidence? I think not.

Talk to them on a bench in between shifts. Do anything; but don't publicly humiliate and attack them like Washington did. By benching Ovechkin what theya re basically saying is that all the other players are better than him and they don't need him. He was wrong to do what he did, and they made it 100x worse.
-
Irrelevant to the discussion. The disucssion is how you treat your best player, and one thing you shouldn't do is embarass them. If the Washington coaches have a problem with soemthing eh did, they should deal with it privately not trash him in public. And, yes, a benching in a game is trashing a player.

All one has to point to is the following: Before TO - Philedelphia couldn't even reach the SB. With TO - They made it to the SB. Sure, he was injured during the play-offs; but he was their motivation. And, come SB, after coming back from a serious injury because of his heart and desire, he did AWESOME in the SB, and Philedelphia lost because their QB choked. After TO - They had a winning record with TO in the first half of the season, after the big blow out, and he was booted off, they were one of the worst teams in the league. While TO is no angel, and did handle various situations wrong those who paint him as the Ultimate Villain tm, and the Eagles as the Innocent Angels tm are simply wrong. The Eagles are just poorly managed.

Here we go again. Silly fans making moral judgements on players. No wonder Washington sucks. Benching your best player - rookie or not - is a move that teams who want to lose do. I hope they keep benching him as the more they do that the more he'll bolt as soon as possible. Poor buisness management by the Washington brass. And, if the relationship sours I blame Washington 100%. Then again, they have a history of doing this considering their attempts to sabatoge Jagr's career. "Lundqvist decided to let 5 goals past him so it didn't matter. Damn." Don't blame Lundqvist. Blame the thug who got a 5 minute major, and blame the wussy defensemen who stood there and allowed the Flyers to sleep in the crease. And, oh, the Rangers didn't lose to the Flyers. The final score was... Philedelphia 6 Jagr 3

This would be funny if it wasnt tragic.

"Apparently the Afghan government is trying to pass some law for freedom of religion, but it hasn't been approved yet, so the Islamic thingiemabob still applies at this point." Not quite true. The Constitution actually has a 'freedom of religion' mandate... but, the problem is, that the consitution also has a mandate that makes conversion to non Muslim religions illegal and punishable by the death penalty.. That's the law he was arrested under. LOL DRAMA! -
A cancer that almost single handedly brought a Super Bowl to Philedelphia... and, would have, if it wasn't for the silly QB..

Fire them? Hahaha! I think at the point the employees decided to write such a letter proves they won't cry if they got fired. Obviously the boss in this case was a bad one. Good bosses would *never* allow employees as a group to get to this point in the first place. A good boss would have seen the warning signs, and would have dealt with it one way, or the other. Taks is right that the business should always come first for management. He, of course, forgets to mention that dealing with employees is a part of the business. Without staff, a business doesn't work. Anyways, I'm neutral to this situation as I;m not involved so i don't know the details. While it's true that a low paying job shouldn't be the best job it's also true that if you are paying someone minimum wage don't expect them to be extremely loyal or ready to kiss your ass. Minimum wage employees can be replaced easily. So can minimum paying jobs. R00fles! "My coworker took two week of vacation then quit. It was pretty funny, but they made him work for 30 mins or he wouldn't get his last check." I bet if he bothered to take them to court, he'd be able to force them to pay him what they owed him. At least in Kanada, you can't withhold someone's earnings like that.

I agree it's best to try to keep such things private; but it's not like he was the only one in those situations who made it public. It works both ways. nor does it make him stupid. People throw that stupid label around too easily, imo.

Cowboys are smart. Eagles are stupid. "T.O. is definitely the Cowboys type guy: Loud, stupid, would betray anyone for anything." 1. Yes, he's loud. 2. He's not stupid. He's simply honest. It's not his fault some of his former teammates and coaches can't handle criticism. 3. He has never betrayed anyone. Why should he be loyal to those who aren't loyal to him? Bottom line is T.O. is one of the best players in the game. By default, that means the team he plays for is automatically better. Just look at his former teams. SF is nothing without him. They literlly suck. Same with Philly. With him, they made the SB and would ahve won if it wasn't for their choking QB, and without him for half a season last year, the Eagfles flopped. As a Giants fan, the only team that now scares me is Dallas... all because of TO.

Bah. They shoulda rnaked 'em! -
Think of this as a baseball game. Ferret was the starter, and now Sawyer comes into the close. I seriously doubt this is *that* big of a deal. Ferret was cool; but Sawyer is also a professional. It's not the end of the NWN2 world.

"Not punished. But some sort of reconciliation must be enacted. Otherwise the accumulated hurt will continue to fester and cause trouble, like the Arab-Israeli troubles in the Middle East." No. I am no more responsible for my great, great, great, great, great grandfather possibly being a sexist punk who had slaves than I am because my birth daddy had a penchant for robbery. I will *never* apologize for slavery since I have NEVER commited slavery. Just like Blacks don't need to apologize for THEIR ancestors selling THEIR ancestors into slavery. I am 100% responsible for my actions. Period. Not for other bozos. As for this show. I haven't seen it, and it sounds dumb. Plain, and simple.

When the season started, he was just the back up. He simply played himself into the number one spot. Also, it's not like he's a 19 or 20 year old rookie either. I believe he's 24. Don't forget, he proved he cna handle the pressure by leading Sweden to a gold (which of course he doesn't credit for as people slobbered over the Ancient Three tm.). The Rangers would be simply fighting for a play-off spot if they had their back up as their starter instead of a division title. As for breaking him, I think players don't get 'broken' by being played. In fact, it likely helps his confidence.

First off, I don't hate my country. In fact, I think if someone hates their country they should simply move if at all possible. THINGS I HATE ABOUT KANADA; 1. Arrogance. When non Kanadians talk about Kanada they discuss our 'niceness', 'non arrogance'. It is a myth. We are arrogant, and we truly believe we are the best country in the world. 2. Jealousy. Even with our arrogance we are most definitely jealous of the US. It reeks in everything we do. We claim to be different, and we s trive our best to be different yet we do everything to be them, to be better than them, to show them up. 3. Poor Method of Selecting Our Prime Ministers. Other countries allow their citizens to choose their individual leader. We don't truly get that option. We get stuck voting based on party. Menaing if you prefer the Liberal in your area; but want the PC leader to be PM, you a re in a huge pickle. 4. Curling being considered our 'official national sport'. That's crap. It should be friggin' hockey.

Heh. What's funny is in the 5 games he played during the Rangers' losing streak his GAA went down, and his S% stayed the same. He also never gave up more than 3 goals (and, only did so in OT/SO). In the last game when the Rangers actually won he gave up 4 goals (on 40 shots). It doesn't look good for the Leafs as I doubt he'll give up 4 goals in back to back games, and it seems the Rangers' offense has returned. I apologize to Leaf fans in advance. " P.S. I'd like the Leafs to make the play-offs; but not at the expense of the Rangers. Weeks is a goofball.. Solid back up; but like you said, if he plays the Rangers are definitely more beatable.

A win is a win. Espicially after 6 losses. <_<
