"So, you agree that Tolkien had a huge impact on the genre but you don't think he created everything out of thin air, Vol? If that's the case, then I don't see the problem. ...Or at least the problem isn't between us." Exactly.
-
"but he sure as hell had an impact on it." Again, who is saying this stuff?
-
"Tolkien is insignificant" Who thinks that in this thread? I surely don't. Afterall, I did mention his influence on other writers...
-
"some have indeed been murdered for expressing their beliefs." Key word is 'some'. The odds ar ein her favor of living. Also, IIRC, on another message board that linked it someone borught up the fact that not only is she *not* Muslim; she is also Amerikan not really from the 'middle east'. I cna't confirm 'cause sadly this video doesn't work for me odd enough. Either way, good for her! However, I think the bravest wom(en) in the ME are the ones who go to school, enter politcis, etc. every day under the threat of death constantly.

"Dwarves used to be evil. Just for starters." How old is the Snow White fairy tale? "That is correct. There would be no Forgotten Realms or other D&D settings. Terry Brooks would not be writing about his Shannara either." You state this like it's factual. It isn't. It's an opinion/theory based on a 'what if' that is illogical. Fantasy was around before Tolkien. The creators of D&D, Brooks, and other fantasy writers likely won't have gotten their influence from other people and stories. ie. Greek Epics ala Hercules, Conan, Merlin, etc., etc. Afterall, those who 'borrowed' from Tolkien followed his example as he 'borrowed' from earlier writers, tales, and stories as well.

When Alanshu is backing me up in this type of silly argument all is lost for our enmies. Anyways, JE's equipment system wasn't 'very poor'. The fact it got rid of useless junk that you mostly find in, say, HOTU or either KOTOR is a welcomed change. Both systems are fine. A very poor equipment system is TOEE's where identifying an item means iding it by name only. LOL As for easter eggs for future BIO games in JE; I don't recall any. But, then again, I'm not one to stalk equipment des riptions or anything else for that matter for easter eggs. I don't play games for easter eggs. They don't turn me. That said, they can be cool when found or pointed out though.

That's easy. As before, Tolkien didn't create fantasy contrary to popular belief. Most of the creatures, and lore he's credited for existed well before him. Just the story, and actual characters are his. Bottom line is fantasy was here before him, and his being involved doesn't change this. The fact that people lamely give him false credit proves this beyond the pale. One word: Merlin. Game over.
-
"Its not a lie. It dosnt have equipment in the same way that HotU does." It is a lie. JE has equipment. This is a fact. It doesn't matter if the eqipment isn't 'like HOTU' which is completely irreleavnt. Afterall, the issue in this thread is of a weapon... Guess what? JE has weapons too hence it has equipment. The fact you lie still is hilarious indeed.
-
IIRC, Tolkien didn't create either orcs, or goblins. Or the vasy majority of fantasy races. As for the what (which I hate); fantasy would still be where it is. The only difference, it be someone else that people would be slobbering over. Fantasy is much bigger than one man.
-
"Well, this easter egg is a well known one." Not well enough. I didn't know this 'til just now... And, if I don't know it; it wasn't well known known. "Jade Empire dosnt have equipment." Why do you feel the need to lie?

FFV is horrid. The only good thing about it is the job system. Everything else sucks. FF8 is the best. FF2FF4 (the one with Kain), FF6, and FF10 are also pretty good if not great. FF1, and FF7 are ok. FF5, FFT, and FF9 are crap.

1. 10 games is simply not enough to judge this. 2. By, and large; the best teams in the East do well against the West (.500+). 3. Montreal, Toronto and Boston are the only .500 Eastern Conference teams that are under .500 vs the West and the .500 records are already suspect due to all the OT/SO losses they have. 4. Accoridng to your logic, Washington would be a pretty damn good team in the West consideirng the fact they have a horrible overall record; they did well vs. the West. 5. The West picking on Pittsburgh doesn't proof much. And, Torontojust seems to be the exception that proves the rule. 6. LA should be really thankful it's not in the East.

"Somehow I don't think Volourn takes Joe Thornton seriously." Huh? I like Joe Thorton a lot. In fact, I thought how Boston treated him was garbage. And, as Mkreku stated, Thornton *is* having a hell of a season. No doubt about it. In any other year, he'd be one of my faves for MVP too; but what Jagr has done for the Rangers is phenomenal. "The Rangers would not even make the playoffs if they were in the Western conference." Proof please. When one deals in what ifs you should at least stop playing the guessing game.
-
Stupid Rangers should be playing Lundqvist; but otherwise WOO HOO! 3 points and counting for Mr. MVP!
-
"You've chosen to like a movie that absolutely everyone seems to hate." Well.. the movie grossed 200mil+ in theatres IIRC and I wasn't one of the people who saw it there so i'm sure others enjoyed it as well.
-
Bunch of haters the lot of you!
-
"No. Stupid propaganda." Eh? Propaganda? Uhuh.. I viewed it as an action blockbuster, and a FICTIONAL movies BASED on REAL events. "Besides that; "A, we get slaughtered" Hero of the story: "Pass me a plane" Hero of story kills about 30 Japanese fighters... while the other can only hit about 2 max..." And? Just like any heroic type movies like with Rambo, etc. Except PH actually had good dramatic acting as well as action. If you expected a perfect history lesson you obviously were watching the wrong movie.
-
Meh. You all suck. Pearl Harbour was a pretty darn good movie. Some people just have a habit of attacking blockbuster movies just because. I can't vouch for how (in)accurate it; but as far as drama, and action goes; PH was pretty damn good.
-
"My roommate's reasons for liking it are the line "Put the Clamlicker on the phone" and J Lo's speech about her being a lesbian because vaginas are awesome." LOL The 'Vaginas are Awesome' speech was very nice.
-
"That and to avoid getting shot in the face by extremist muslims." You DO realize right that extremist mislims tend to HATE everyone not like them right? You know much like the majoritry of extremists? For some reason I doubt being Kanadian would help in that situation.
-
Eh? So otheers can say I'm wrong, and an idiot? LOL Ok. Since when has that stopped me before? Never. That's when. The acting for start. Affleck, and Lopez (as well as the movie as a whole) gets attacked strictly because they were a couple that was over exposed. Their characters' 'romance' struck me as more 'real' than most movie romances. Affleck's character literally transforms from a big jerk calling mentally challenged people retarded and treated them like subhumans to an actual caring person who sees that they *are* humans. The list goes on; but this palce isn' for it... "I can't believe anyone likes Super Mario Brothers." It was a watchable movie.. when I was like 10 or so...
-
Yeah. My tastes are better than everyone else's.. then again.. people here actually like D&D so their opinions are funny as it is. LOL Gigli isn't just a *good* movie; it's a *great* movie.
-
People whining about how they were the only ones to post a movie that *everyone* hates forget to mention that Gigli is awesome and EVERYONE (except me lol) underrates it.
